I just cannot stop gushing about Never Ever Getting Back Together. If you have not read this yet, I would highly recommend reading while listening to We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift, Better Than Revenge by Taylor Swift, Keeping Tabs by NIKI, and good 4 u by Olivia Rodrigo on full volume. Okay, maybe not full volume, but you get the idea.
The world truly needs a sapphic book like Never Ever Getting Back Together, which centers around a teen reality show called Second-Chance Romances, in which Jordy's exes compete to win back his affection. I mean, really? Just from reading the book synopsis, how egoistical is Jordy? Anyways, instead of falling in love with Jordy, two contestants named Maya and Skye fall in love with each other.
If that book summary did not already convince you to pick up Never Ever Getting Back Together right now... well, let me just say that the characters did not disappoint. I loved revenge-seeking Maya and carefully-planning Skye. They really are good for each other. And they won't fall for Jordy's bullshit again after they find out the truth.
This reminds me of the long-awaited scene when both girls finally realize the truth of their previous relationship with Jordy. That was definitely one of the more memorable scenes and also the start of Maya and Skye's non-rivalry and scheming together.
Oh, I also loved the bisexuality rep.
Okay, I hated Jordy, who is a cheating and gaslighting asshole, with a burning passion, but that was also the point of the book. I would be surprised if anyone actually even liked Jordy throughout the book.
Okay, I also thought that the ending was a little, just a little, anticlimactic, but that is okay because the rest of the book was so good.
Thank you to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for the advance digital copy in exchange for an honest review!...more

Ali and Max are so adorable together. Granted, the beginning of the book felt kinda insta-lovey and the transition from enemies to friends was a little faster than I had wanted, but the rest of the book and the romance definitely made it up for it!
I also enjoyed the disability rep! Even though Ali has bradycardia (so sorry if this is a spoiler), she is still so strong, passionate, and determined, and I love her for it.
Oh, and Max is absolutely the sweetest person. He's so protective and caring to both Ali and his mom. Plus, he's an astronomy nerd? I love him so much.
This is such a short book review because my mind is only thinking about the fact that "We'll Be the Stars" by Sabrina Carpenter, "universe" by thuy, and "Sparks Fly" by Taylor Swift are so perfect for this book....more

After knowing that The Summer of Broken Rules was inspired by Taylor Swift songs, I immediately added it to my TBR list (and I mean, my actual one) and started reading the book the next day.
With Meredith spending only one week on Martha's Vineyard, I should have already known that the romance was not going to be slow burn (my favorite trope). I should have also already known that there was going to be some insta-love (my least favorite trope) between Meredith and Wit. But as much as I still despise insta-love, I have to admit that Meredith and Wit's relationship was so adorable that it made up for it.
Plus, I loved the summer Assassin game. Even though I personally don't enjoy playing Assassin in real life, just reading the paranoia, the scheming, the deception, and most importantly the fun was exhilarating. In a good way, of course.
Plus, I loved the Taylor Swift references. I'd say that "Hey Stephen (Taylor's Version)", "Breathe (Taylor's Version)", "I Think He Knows", "Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version)", and "Enchanted" all describe The Summer of Broken Rules relatively well....more

Wow, I have not read a Kasie West book since July 2019, which was exactly three years ago. But after watching The Summer I Turned Pretty, I was in the mood for contemporary romance books. So, naturally, I turned to Kasie West books.
Places We've Never Been is the perfect summer read featuring Norah and Skyler, who were childhood best friends until Skyler moved away. Now, four years after the move, their families decide to go on a road trip together, but Skyler acts distant, much to Norah's hurt.
Just from reading the book synopsis, I knew that I was going to enjoy Places We've Never Been, and I was not disappointed. I loved exploring the friends-to-not-friends-to-friends-again-to-lovers-now relationship between Norah and Skyler. I just know that I will be rereading that confession scene over and over again in the future.
I also really loved Paisley! With her straightforward, observant, helpful, and supportive personality, she was arguably the best character in the book.
Sure, there were still some things in Places We've Never Been that I was not a fan of. For example, I did not like Norah's mom - I found her parenting skills and her advice to Norah in the second half of the book to be questionable.
I also felt like the ending did not provide the amount of closure that I had wanted for the characters. When there were only two more chapters left in the book, I thought there should have been seven or eight more chapters. I wanted to read more about Norah, Skyler, Willow, Ezra, Austin, and the moms after the road trip. To me, their stories aren't over yet. There is still so much left to explore in the story of Norah and Skyler, the story of Norah and her career aspirations, the story of the two families. I am crossing my fingers for a sequel because while I think that Kasie West intended Places We've Never Been to be a standalone novel, I also do think that it lends itself well to becoming a duology.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I would recommend Places We've Never Been to anyone looking for a cute and fun read!...more
