Beth is a romance writer who has basically lived out of her vechicle for 6 years until she gets stranded in Freedom Valley, New Hampshire where she is rescued by Evan, a former Marine who came home after his father passed away to run the family's inn. The set up was good, I didn't care for the fact that Beth referred to herself as homeless, she was not she owned a home in another state so she had assets she just chose to live the way she did following a tragic accident. It bothered me when there are so many homeless people out there that she referred to herself this way. She was by choice not because of circumstances beyond her control. Anyway, Beth gets swept up into Evan's family and the employees of the inn who are are found family. This was a slow burn for reasons and there were quite a few emotional moments in this book but I still felt it was missing something. As it was a fairly short read, I don't feel I wasted my time and I do want to continue the series because I'm curious about other characters, butit wasn't something I'd read again....more

In the first two books we’ve watched Kellen guide his nephews and daughter in the family business that he owns and runs with his brother Mick. Kellen lost his wife to cancer 15 years ago and has never really dated since, but when he realizes his new neighbor is none other than Beth his high school sweetheart, he beings to see that maybe there is time for romance. Beth is fresh out of a bad marriage that honestly ended years prior but she held on because of her autistic son Jake. Finally having enough of her husband’s infidelity and the stress of the marriage making her miserable she is renting a home near her parents who will be back-up for her and her son. It was fun watching Kellen and Beth reconnect and remember their time together as teens and figure out a relationship and sex with a new partner after 50. I liked that they didn’t shy away from problems and they communicated fairly well. Beth was a bit stubborn when it came to Jake and I understood that because she couldn’t count on her ex-spouse for back-up when they were married, it all fell to her. I adored that Kellen figured out how to engage with Jake and how well his family welcomed Beth and Jake into their fold with the exception of Kellen’s daughter, at least at first. Inspection was funny, romantic, and emotional and I enjoyed it very much....more

Wes's daughter Marissa was a breath of fresh air but read more like 12 than 9 especially for someone growing up in a small town. I liked the way Sarah was able to mentor Marissa and showed Wes that just because Marissa didn't like the same things he did, it didn't mean she didn't love or need him. I would have liked to have more closure between Sarah and Mr. Harrison, I felt a bit cheated with the not knowing. All that being said, it was a fantastic story and I enjoyed it very much....more

I liked this story quite a bit; these characters had a lot of chemistry but it was also to see that from the beginning they cared for one another. She lives in Seattle, he lives in Sitka. She loves the city, he loves his small town, but they agree they want to be together even if its long distance for awhile. What I loved most about this is that his 3 children all had very different reactions to him dating again and I felt they were all realistic. A good story that I enjoyed a lot. ...more

The Road Towards Home features to characters in their seventies both who once knew each other in college and are now living in an Independent Senior Living Center. I found this story to be a wonderful look at getting older where you begin reflecting on your life, the choices you made, the mistakes you see, and the legacy that you’ll leave. It also had a positive message that just because you are over 70 you still have life to live and love to give....more
