The book is enjoyable, and actually the reader did a pretty good job, including different accents and voices. Listening to the romantic scenes in audio format will never not be awkward though; just saying. ...more

The first story in this three book set was the slowest and probably my least favorite. It just felt like the relationship was a foregone conclusion and there wasn't ever much tension. The 2nd and 3rd stories were better in that regard--the romance was still very obvious and there wasn't even much tension in that, but at least by the third there was an exciting subplot, which helped make it more interesting. Altogether, these were enjoyable enough that I read the whole set and have checked out the next book in the series, just temper your expectations if you are expecting lots of tension or danger from this series....more

This book was published in the early 90s. It's an okay romance, but there are parts that just didn't age well, starting with the fact that she is in a relationship with her boss. He also comes off pretty sexist, especially in the interactions where he is helping her with her teenage brother and telling her things like "only a man would understand." It's an interesting story, filled with drama and intrigue, so if you don't mind the more dated and sexist aspects, it's fine to read....more

It was an ok read, and I liked the ending, but getting there wasn't quite up to my expectations. Perhaps there was too much time between reading the first one (back in 2012, I think) and this one. Likely I have changed as a person, and thus my tastes have also changed? I just couldn't find the same humor, and found the characters floundering around in their relationship to be more frustrating than relatable and endearing. The beginning was promising. The middle was a too slow, and I was getting really annoyed by both of the characters behaviors, and the ending was pretty much all that saved this book for me....more
