But maybe it felt like love.’ Jenny: Saying goodbye to Lily and Tristan really was a mixture of beauty and sadness. The beauty being the series as a whole and the very special conclusion to Lily and Tristan’s story. It’s one I’ve savoured from start to finish. The sadness being that I had to say goodbye to some truly memorable characters and some breathtakingly poetic prose, they will be missed. “Love isn’t just one story. This is ours. Let it be. Stop asking why it’s different.” I’ve been with Lily and Tristan through their ups and downs, their happiness and heartache and every minute was special. They’re anything but conventional and neither is their relationship and at times I felt like a voyeur, sneaking a peek at someone’s personal journey rather than being a spectator thanks to Alice’s words. I’ve said it before, it’s like being on tour with a Rolling Stone reporter when you read this account of life in the crazy world of rock stardom. “You are you. That’s it. That’s all I want.” Gitte it warms my heart that Alice stayed true to her characters and their story. I can’t tell you how much I loved this one! Gitte: Alice did her characters and her story proud with this last instalment, Jenny and yes I absolutely loved it. She did indeed stay true to Tristan and Lily, not only in who they are as individuals but who they are together. “We’re mad, Lily. Mad. But I love it. And I love you.” These two beautiful people could not be without one another, it’s not a pretty flowery romance, but that is exactly why I loved it; and really…the setting and history realistically calls out for it. I also have to say, whilst I am somewhat a total goner for effed up Tristan, its Lily who has my heart. What a journey this has been, I’ve loved every minute of the beautiful disaster that is Tristan and the vulnerable quiet strength of Lily. These two make sense and Lilly is truly a memorable heroine. “Don’t ask for what you’re not going to get. Be happy with what is in front of you. Don’t do things because you’re supposed to.” As always, the writing is astoundingly beautiful and captivating. It truly felt as if we were right there, hiding in the background eavesdropping on private conversations. Living the moment as it unfolded. Jenny & Gitte: Lily and Tristan, both flawed and cynical, yet so hopeful, brought out something in each other that made them shine. Beautiful, pragmatic, honest Lily who doesn’t do drama or hysterics and whose subtlety and strength completely won us over the entire time. ‘I already knew I’d keep his secrets forever. Tristan was something special. An artist, strong to know the depths of his own heart, and brave enough to sink into that darkness. And come back.’ Tristan Hunter, such a contradiction and he always kept us on our toes. Soulful, loving, loyal to those he loves, with a depth of character that was fascinating. We were offered so much insight into this man and wow, what we wouldn’t do to spend some time in his head! What a fascinating adventure that would be! “I want to get wasted. Do crazy things. I don’t know if I know how to be like this. Sensible.” Alice delivered a conclusion that was an enlightening, true and natural progression for their story. We’ve cried, laughed, shared Lily and Tristan’s strengths and weaknesses and we’ve revelled in storytelling that was flawless and unique. Bravo Alice Severin, thanks for having the guts to do these guys proud and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for bringing these wonderful and intriguing characters into our lives. We’ll miss them! **ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review** Merged review: [image] J&G: 4.5 beautiful stars ‘This didn’t’ feel like real life at all. It’s a good day to wear orange.” Oooh we really enjoyed this novella! It was fast paced and full of delish kick-arse characters. Tijan is a brilliant writer; in amongst the action there’s laugh out loud humour, drama, passion and romance. Oh and a load of bloody hot, funny and gorgeous characters. Each could have their own story; and we hope they do. Especially Chris, who intrigued us. So, we have Jax the lush and fit fighter slash bail jumper who’s the target of a family of bounty hunters – a bunch of gorgeous hot brothers and one studious ‘home for the holidays’ sister. Jax doesn’t want to get caught but there’s a good reason for why and Dale isn’t keen on helping her bounty hunting brothers with their target when she realises they’re after her ex-boyfriend, Jax. It’s all a very hilarious ride with a sexual chemistry that had our pulses racing. ‘They were going to arrest me too? They took out a warrant on their little sister?’ Jax and Dale’s story was a snippet of which we are sure is to be a real sexy emotional and funny read. We read it one sitting and could have kept going. It smacked of something new and intriguing and we can’t wait for more….We want and need MORE! “Losing you was a wake-up call. You ripped my heart out…” ❈ ❈ ❈ [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest ✦✦✦ We're on TSU: TB on TSU ...more |

T [image] ✯✯✯✯ Fiery, Romantic and Christmassy Stars Who doesn’t swoon at the thought of a cold and snowy Christmas in Paris with the one you love?! The smell and feel of the Parisian Christmas markets. Well, we could definitely smell the mulled wine and feel the romance of Paris at Christmas as KA Merikan once again wowed us with their brilliant atmospheric writing. We love Seth and Dom, so to spend some time with them no matter how short is always special; they make us swoon, laugh and give us the shivers. Seth our lovable sweetheart whose childlike excitement melted our hearts in this novella. Once more he showing his petulant side borne from jealousy and a religious clash with Dom. And Dom, our arrogant and wicked lovable rogue whose strong beliefs and tactless action caused such friction and despair. ‘Seth never felt this lonely in his life.’ ‘How would he live his life after experiencing that soul-ripping storm?’ Christmas is almost ruined as a result of a thoughtless decision, possessiveness and stroppy jealousy. But Christmas has a magical touch and our lads have huge lovable hearts. So Christmas in Paris was passionate, emotional and sexy. What a treat! “Open your jacket.” “What for? You wanna carve my heart out? Too late anyway.” **Reviewed from an ARC copy provided by the authors, with thanks** ❥❥❥❥ [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest Our links for TB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Totall... Love is [image] 'Sex is just part of life; it’s an ingrained physical need that you don’t have to understand. Love-that’s what people should be saving. Love is what can rip you to pieces, or make you complete. It’s what connects you on a whole new level to a person, not sex.’ We first met Rush, the dirty mouthed, sex crazed bassist for Pandemic Sorrow in Jag. On the surface he came across as a bit dense though gifted musically, possessing a sexual prowess that left us exhausted and needing a cigarette!! He’s a demon between the sheets and is only too happy to share the love! Rush has no filter and no shame! He’s out to enjoy the trappings of Rock and Roll anyway he can. Women, booze and drugs, it’s all on offer and he’s not one to knock it back. ‘Was I a whore? Yes. Did I use more drugs than the Mexican cartel? Probably.’ Told through Rush’s voice and covering the same timelines as Jag, this was a funny, sexy, uncomfortable and crazy read and one where we really came to know Rush on a whole new level and we loved him. There is a lot more to this guy than we originally presumed. Following the same timeline allowed us to experience how the other band members coped during the tumultuous events of Jag and it was enlightening. ‘I was still the same guy I’d always been. Loud, annoying, and uncertain about most things. I was just a fucking person. I bled, I cried, I got sick, and rejection feels the same whether you’re a rock star or a clerk at a Chevron.’ Rush (the story) explores the love/hate relationship between Jules and Rush. Jules is employed by the record label to keep these boys in check and boy does she have her work cut out for her with these guys! It’s as though they’ve pressed the self-destruct button and Jules can only sit back and wait for it to detonate. ‘She hurt me, I needed to hurt her.’ Jules has known Rush for six years and in that time she has seen him bed a bevy of women. Jules feels a disgust towards Rush for his wild ways but can’t help the attraction she feels towards him. ‘The passion I felt for her made me forget that I was even famous.’ But Jules is off limits due to the no fraternizing with employees rule set out by the record company, but that only serves to make Rush even more eager to get between her thighs! They do share a heated session, which leaves Rush wanting more and Jules wanting to forget! And that folks is where the game of cat and mouse begins! “Don’t take this the wrong way, Rush, but you’re disgusting.” Whereby Jag’s story was gritty, raw and unrelenting, Rush’s is more on the humorous side though there was no shortage of emotion in this story and we have to say we actually teared up at the end. Is there really a heart of gold underneath that unfiltered exterior? You’ll have to find out for yourselves! “I want a reason to be done with my past.” The early banter between Rush and Jules was priceless and was something we enjoyed immensely. There was an early scene that was so vividly and humorously told it had us giggling down the phone lines like crazy when we were discussing it. Stevie J Cole, you have QUITE the imagination. If you had asked us to relay our feeling about the story and on Jules’s character halfway through the book, we would have waxed lyrical about what a fantastic heroine she was, how she was gutsy, witty and how we admired her for the way she kept Rush in check. She was so well written and we adored her. The story was moving in a believable and entertaining direction and we were invested up until a certain point. Then…something happened. The story took a different tack and it was as though Jules became a whole other character and it gutted us. The girl we had come to love started to come across as selfish and uncaring woman and dare we say, she became a somewhat heartless bitch – so different to the Jules in the first half of the story, it had us scratching our heads. Her actions caused us great sadness and there was no coming back after a certain turn of events. From that point on we ceased to believe in Jules and we no longer believed or felt their relationship had any validity in all aspects of love from her side. There was a void in their relationship we couldn’t move on from and it saddened us greatly because we were invested and enjoying the story up until that point. We were unsure what this particular storyline was meant to make us feel. If it was to have us believe their relationship was solid because of this, sadly it failed in our eyes and only made us feel as though this couple wouldn’t withstand any difficulties thrust in their path from Jules perspective. ‘The only difference when it came to me and Jag and drugs was that his was an addiction, mine was a habit.’ There were certainly parts of this story we loved and early on we were certain it was going to be another 4.5/5.0 star read, however, we’re sad to say the events that unfolded disconnected us from the story and from Jules and Rush as a couple. Our feelings for Rush never altered. We loved him. This guy would have us laughing one minute, wanting to slap him stupid and then hug him the next. He could certainly be infuriating, but he had a heart of gold that always won us over. There’s no doubt about it, Stevie J Cole writes a kick arse male POV! She’s does it brilliantly. We did like this installment, but sadly we didn’t love it. **Reviewed from an ARC Copy provided by the author with thanks** ★¨`*•♫ [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest Our links for TB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Totall... Run to me.” So far we have A.D.O.R.E.D this series! The dialogue, banter, romance, angst, passion, emotion and drama left us breathless not to mention our brand new…’be still our beating hearts’… book boyfriend left us swooooning! Seriously, Keaton Thorne is ‘the best!’. Yes, we’re ‘air quoting’ Keaton, so get over it buddy! “It’s just a story, V. We all have a story.” We received an email from a reader who told us to drop everything and read this book! She thought it was right up our ally and she was right! We ran the gauntlet of emotions; we laughed out loud, we welled up, did some serious swooning over Keaton, met a new author whose work we’re giddy over, and we loved every minute! ‘I thought of the collection of New Adult books that were lined up on my Kindle, wondering if his pulse was thundering and his dick was twitching.’ Kimberly Stedronsky told her story with a perfect balance of realism, passion, drama and humour which had us feverishly turning the pages. The expressive way in which she delivered the humour in this story ensured we read it with a huge smile on our faces as we feverishly devoured every word! “You have too much time of your hands.” “I have too much Vivian on my hands.” The prologue had a sudden impact, which drew us into the story, leaving us pondering how Vivan had arrived at that point in her life. Just what had transpired up to and after that point? Well, Kimberly Stedronsky deliciously drip fed us tiny morsels of her story to keep us tantalisingly teased! Keaton Thorne! Wow!!! WE. ARE. IN. LOVE with this flawed and bloody gorgeous man!! He was the complete book boyfriend. Good looking, sexy, strong, smart, charismatic, possessing a wonderful sarcastic wit and an enigmatic presence. Yep, he’s the stuff book boyfriends are made of and we couldn’t get enough of him. We think we fell more and more in love with him as the story progressed. He could definitely cause a city to heat and you really do need to meet this guy any which way you can. “But you’re everything. You’re everything that I used to pretend existed out there for me., somewhere. You’re the beautiful girl who I would dream about when I’d lie awake at night, the one who’d make me laugh, piss me off, and impress me, all at the same fucking time." Normally we’re not fans of bringing real life into our books but this author handled it in such a way that it enhanced the story. The movie and book references were so much fun…well, everything was. As you can tell, we really did love it. We initially adored Vivian and found ourselves empathising with her. Whilst we may have become exasperated by some of her actions and reasoning, we felt as though we understood her. It was who she was and how she handled difficult situations. She was a little reckless and a lot impetuous, but her heart was in the right place. By book two it was a different story and we wanted to throttle her. Her thought process, her flip flopping drove us to the brink and she somehow even managed to bring Keaton down which upset us deeply. Thankfully, Kimberly Stedronsky pulled it back and had us once again connecting with Vivian. It was a close call, the angst was aplenty, and we were walking a tightrope of going off this character completely but luckily that wasn’t the case. Told in a dual POV between Keaton and Vivian, it was a delight to get an insight into their inner thoughts which were hilarious. Their banter was priceless. We were reciting many classic lines whilst discussing the books after finishing. In fact, we’re still giggling and swooning! ‘She was gorgeous. Stunning. She took my breath away and gave me air to breathe.’ It would be a true crime not to pick up this series. It’s fun, flirty, angsty, emotional and addictive and you get to meet the delectable Mr Keaton Thorne!!! Yummy!! ‘He needed me. I needed him. Right? Isn’t this the way it goes? Isn’t this our blockbuster? I needed him to unbreak my heart, and he needed me to save him.’ For a fistful of dollars you can pick up and fall in love with Below Unforgiven, or for a few dollars more, you can grab the series! Either way, you need to get a hold of these books any which way you can because it would be a true crime to pass these up. ‘Everyone in town introduced themselves by name and relations. Apparently, I was no exception. Maybe it was a precautionary measure to thwart inbreeding.’ A real winner! The good…there was LOTS of that! The bad…well, there wasn’t really any bad, except wanting to throw our Kindles once or twice…..and the ugly…..hmmm there wasn’t any of that either, but we had to get that Clint Eastwood title in here somewhere. An absolute recommend from us!!! We’re still on book cloud nine from this one! Enjoy but remember…Keaton is ours!!! On a side note, we’ve been asked if it’s worth reading the novella or delving straight into books one and two – we say – absolutely read the novella. It reaches further into the characters and gives you a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the relationships. It really is an added bonus to the series we wouldn’t have missed! ஐღ ஐღ [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest Our links for TB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Totall... I see through the rock star part, he knows I can see through it.” This was a bit of a surprise! We initially had a real problem connecting to the characters and decided to DNF Boy in a Band at around 40%. We found the age of the characters and their behaviour a little hard to believe, bordering on uncomfortable to read – oh we know it’s set in the 70′s and free love and all that, but it was hard relating to the characters as 13-15 year olds with what was going on. We found the prose over descriptive at times which slowed the flow of the story, and although we understood the conflict the heroine was experiencing we found her a little irritating and so it decided we would shelve this and move on to our next read. Then something happened which is unheard of for us! Unbeknownst to each other we both couldn’t stop thinking about this book! We’d both put off starting our next read because thoughts of this book continued to consume us. We just HAD to know the eventual outcome and so the text messages between us began! This has NEVER happened before. Normally we have no intention or inclination to pick up a DNF again, but not so in this case. ‘He needed me, he wanted me, he never said anything about loving me.’ Luckily we were both in the same mindset whereby we needed to get back into this book as soon as possible to see how Morgan and Mathew’s story ended, so it was decided we’d give it another go. Like we said, this never happens so it was quite a shocker for us to feel this strongly. Mathew and Morgan’s relationship was bordering on toxic. Mathew left her dangling, gave her just enough affection to keep her hooked and Morgan consistently allowed him to do it, relenting time and time again. For Morgan it was obviously love, as for Mathew…well, his thoughts and actions spoke of many different things. “I don’t know what you are. How can I define It? You start, you stop. You love, he doesn’t: you hate, he wants; you give into him Morgan, it’s crazy.” As this is told from Morgan’s pov it was left up to us to try and decipher what Mathew was thinking and trust us when we say we had NO IDEA what was going on in that boys head. He was a conundrum. Did he like Morgan? Didn’t he? Did he love her? Didn’t he? His actions confused us no end but kept us coming back for more. 'I finally came to the conclusion there were two Mathews: one I liked, the other one I didn’t.’ He constantly messed Morgan around and was a bit of a dick to be honest. His hot and cold actions towards her gave us whiplash and Morgan’s constant bending to Mathew’s whims gave us a headache. 'My heart would be bruised, and with each bruise, it would toughen.’ Theirs was a rocky, emotional, intense and hard to gauge relationship. There was no putting this down once we got back into it that’s for sure. The latter part of this story had us sobbing quite a few times. “Giving up? You’ll give him up ’till he wants you again.” Our feelings towards Morgan changed throughout the book. We switched between wanting to shake her and jump through out Kindles and offer her some sage words and a huge hug and the growth of this young woman throughout the story was a revelation. This story was intense, emotional and filled with angst! We really did have a love/hate relationship with this book that’s for sure. There’s no doubt it stayed with us, tore at our heartstrings and had us sobbing, so yes there is no question this book made us feel. On the other hand there were aspects of the story that grated and annoyed us …….but…..WE WERE MOVED and we were inexplicably drawn to finishing this book. We’re glad we did resume reading it because there was no way of advancing to our next read until we knew the Mathew and Morgan’s story. Their story left us emotionally drained that’s for sure. On discussing this in our Bookclub our fellow bookies loved it implicitly! So delve in and prepare to be taken on a journey through the lives of two people who shared an unbreakable yet exhausting bond. We will say this….if you feel like giving up at some point we would urge you to continue because it really is worth it in the end. [image] Jointly Reviewed by Jenny & Gitte ✯✯✯✯ Solid Stars ‘I had something else to look forward to besides death and darkness when I woke up each mornin [image] Jointly Reviewed by Jenny & Gitte ✯✯✯✯ Solid Stars ‘I had something else to look forward to besides death and darkness when I woke up each morning……I had a little bit of light in a world, which carried so much darkness.’ This was quite a different MC book the ones we’ve experienced, in fact, at times it didn’t really feel like an MC book, other times, we could feel the MC mood and that synopsis certainly dragged us in! ‘Together, they were unstoppable. Formidable, Brothers in both arms and souls.’ Without Consequence wasn’t particularly gritty. The violence and ‘justice‘ wasn’t vivid and gruesome and a lot of the sex scenes and violence was fade to black but that in no way lessened the impact of this story because whilst it didn’t have the graphic detail of some, it had pure emotion in abundance. ‘I meant nothing. I was nothing. I’d been nothing ever since.’ Told in the alternate POV’s of Ayda and Drew, we felt Ayda’s voice was the stronger of the two. In Ayda we found a loyal, hardworking, strong, sassy heroine who didn’t hold back on her thoughts and emotions and she was refreshing. A determined young lady who had forgone so much in her life to ensure her brother, Tate, didn’t go without and we admired her tenacity. Drew was a very complex man. Our hearts went out to him many a time through this story. However, we would have loved to have known Drew on a deeper level. Sure, we were aware of his strengths and weaknesses and did experience his inner turmoil and the battle he forged within himself but we needed to experience Drew the way Ayda did. We needed to really get to the nitty gritty of Drew’s background and know the Drew Ayda had such strong feelings for and didn’t feel we as though we did. . Recently released from prison, Drew has to cope with changes within his club and within the brotherhood he would protect to the death. He has to once again find his place within life and the club but who Drew really was had us a bit baffled. ‘I couldn’t help but wonder if she found it as hard to breathe her way through life as much as I did.’ Now, that’s not to say we didn’t experience the emotion of this story because we absolutely did. One love scene alone was one of the most beautiful we’ve read and had us clutching our hearts. The care and tenderness shown by Drew towards Ayda and Tate was breathtaking and if there’s one thing we knew with every beat of our hearts, it was that this man would lay down his life for Ayda. ‘When he came, our bodies seemed to melt together in the exquisite rapture of the moment, and for one blissful breath, I found my happiness in the midst of his chaos.’ We’re very much show us, don’t tell us type readers and at times, we did feel as though we were being told Ayda and Drew’s story as opposed to living it and it is for this reason and the feelings we had in regards to Drew that this wasn’t a 5 star read. However, there was so much to love about this book and we really did enjoy it. The telling of this story between these two authors was seamless and their writing really did complement one another. There were moments of absolute beauty and heartfelt emotion in Without Consequence. It’s beautifully written and at times touched our hearts. ‘I dropped my forehead to hers and just stayed there for as long as I could, trying to find the words to tell her what was going on in my head right in that very moment. How could I express emotions I had no experience of feeling?’ We’d definitely recommend this one if you’re looking for an MC book with a difference. **Reviewed from an ARC copy provided by the authors, with thanks ** ❥❥❥❥ [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest Our links for TB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Totall... I was really surprised that I loved this second instalment even more than Crave as Kennedy hadn’t made a huge impression on me in book one. But he was absolutely lush and his and Zee’s story was not only sexy and passionate; it was quite humorous too. “I keep trying to tell you I don’t snuggle.” – Zee “This is me ignoring you.” – Kennedy The tone in Claim definitely wasn’t as sombre as Crave rather it was more of a fun sexy read and it was HOT. Whilst I’ve loved both, this one definitely has the edge because of that. Now I’m even more excited for the next one….and Julien! Kennedy is a playboy according to everyone not in his circle. His family want him married and settled with a posh bird but he hasn’t got any such plans; Kennedy doesn’t do serious or even the so-called posh birds! Then this all changes when Mackenzie turns up in the club one night at a special BDSM party; divorced and looking for one night stands only as a result. All it takes is one scene and both Kennedy and Zee realise they have a connection they can’t deny nor ignore. Try as Zee might she falls not only to her knees but reluctantly her heart falls too. I can’t blame her; Kennedy is pretty much Dom perfection! Oh and he does NOT give up on something or someone he wants. And Kennedy wants Zee. He realises that this is a one of a kind connection. It takes Zee a bit longer though, sadly. ‘Emotionally, she recognized that she should run. Yet she was helpless to do anything other than succumb.’ I thought Mackenzie was a brilliant heroine. She’s a tough, intelligent and sassy woman who’s comfortable with who she is whilst trying to safeguard her heart. I’ve come to the conclusion that Sierra sure knows how to write the type of heroines I love. There’s no unnecessary dramatics and back and forth. Her heroine was believable and her issues understandable. ‘She wasn’t just addicted to his delicious dominance. She was addicted to him.’ Kennedy is one gorgeous, intelligent, caring and passionate man. He has a serious side sure, but the balance between that and the quirkiness that has him in funky coloured trainers makes him absolutely knickers melting perfect. He has that brilliant dry and sarcastic humour I absolutely love. “I’d be better if you left me alone.” – Zee “Would you?” – Kennedy “You seem unconcerned.” – Zee “Supremely.” – Kennedy The way he loves, his perseverance and his attention to detail is just yummy-liscious….and the way he claims. Yeah; I fell in lust, love and onto my knees! ღ ღ ღ [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest Our links for TB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Totall... Jointly Reviewed by Jenny & Gitte *Below Unforgiven -✯✯✯✯✯ Stars , *On Heartbreak Ridge - ✯✯✯✯✯ Stars , *Before A Perfect World - ✯✯✯✯ 1/2 “Give us a chance, Vivian. [image] “How brave are you now?” What do you do when you realise you may possibly have made a huge mistake and how do you rectify it? How do you eve [image] “How brave are you now?” What do you do when you realise you may possibly have made a huge mistake and how do you rectify it? How do you even justify your hurtful actions? What do you do when purposely faced with a face of the past you’ve never been able to forget and realise you never will? ‘No real man could live up to what she remembered. No one was that perfect.’ Crave is the story of Reece and Sarah who went through an extremely emotional separation; each for different reasons. One an instigator one a victim. They had the most perfect relationship on paper. Both so very much in love with each other; though each moving at a different pace in comparison. The pace interrupted by an unspoken misunderstanding and fear of a firm statement of ownership. “I wasn’t as strong as I am now. You would have consumed me, Reece.” However, was it a mistake – the actual decision? I’m not sure as I think overall it played a positive for Reece and Sarah’s relationship in the long run. I don’t agree with the way in which it was carried out though. It was definitely an extremely hurtful ‘mistake’ and my heart bled for Reece. ‘Back then she’d been so focused on protecting herself that she hadn’t considered how her reactions would devastate him.’ Reece is extremely measured with a powerful demeanour. He keeps himself in check and exudes control. At times I felt his actions came across as almost too clinical and cold however; on the whole this man’s intensity with which he loves despite having his heart pretty much ripped out of his body was quite beautiful and all-consuming. I fell under this man’s spell and completely understood Sarah’s inability to fully let him go. ‘This man was harsher, feelings and reactions buried beneath the hurt.’ Sarah loves Reece; the way he loves, his intelligence and working friendship, his sexual dominance in their D/s relationship. The sexual chemistry between these two is off the charts hot. Sarah knows she may have made a mistake and she’s intent on facing Reece after two years to somehow expel him from her heart and mind. She’s never forgotten; Sarah needs closure. Will one weekend with the man she still loves give her this closure? Will she be able to walk away and try once more to get on with her life? In return will Reece? In theory it’s all good but once faced with the reality of their fierce attraction, the love that still resides in their hearts; that’s quite a big ask. “Pretty sure I’m not going to like this..” “Pretty sure I didn’t ask.” “Yes, Sir.” It was extremely refreshing to read a story of a woman trying to protect her identity and voice in the face of an all-encompassing love. Whilst she tore Reece’s heart and future apart with two years of silence; I believe she made the right choice and I understand the why’s. The underlying themes of trust and communication proving once more the vital role they play in any relationship. At times I did struggle with connecting emotionally as we were there for the ‘afters’ so to speak. I wonder if I’d have experienced more of Reece’s initial pain and confusion through a flashback rather than being told, would I have related more to his cold and business like attitude and testing ways? Saying that though; his friends did paint quite a picture and I have to say I fell in love with their funny and cheeky ways as well as their obvious protection of Reece. “What makes you think I’ll help you destroy my friend again?” I can’t wait to continue with this series to get the stories of Kennedy and Julien. Especially Julien who I grew quite a soft spot for; actually I already LOVE him!! This was my first time spent with Sierra Cartwright and I have to say I fell in love with her writing. It was flawless, classy and evocative. There was a brilliant blend of drama, humour, sensuality and passion. I can definitely recommend this story of second chances; of revelations and working through misunderstandings. Also; it’s damn hot….who can say no to that, right? ´♥ ´♥ ´♥ [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest Our links for TB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Totall... In fact we’ve gone and stocked up on his previous work. We absolutely love when an Author’s words hit straight at our hearts and that’s what happened here. We fell in love. “But love is a fluid thing. It’s not the same for every person. The concept is. The reality isn’t. When you hear people talking, they’re usually trying to validate their own perception of what love is, or what it means to be in love.” The writing is sublime; emotionally laden with heartbreak, grief and personal struggles. Yet in amidst that there’s the beauty of hope, inspiration and surprise human consolation in a time of great sadness. Most importantly of all is the flawless and stunning way music is interwoven almost telling the story if you will. We found this most unique and almost poetically lyrical. We were swept away as the writing unfolded so vividly through imagery and we watched with tears rolling down our cheeks and our hearts hurting. Then came healing through music and sound; liberation from guilt and fear. We listened and we loved. “You draw your passion from the people around you.” Martin; our Maestro stole our hearts. His story moved us to tears; his journey heart-breaking yet inspirational. His inability to let go of the past, of the loss of his daughter, affects his present – consequentially his future. Grief is overwhelming and to let go seems an impossible feat. His relationship with his wife in trouble as each struggle with their emotions, heart ache and locked away feelings, the future is bleak and coping is an impossibility. Martin and his wife have an unbreakable connection and quite a unique relationship. We understood and felt it and at no time did we feel it had any negative connotations. They each needed to be in the other’s lives yet undealt with grief is a powerful barrier to overcome. “Sometimes, the most beautiful things we find in this life are those we can’t hold on to.” Ren the gifted pianist entered Martin’s life when he most needed him. With his own story to tell of struggle and family relations he too needed a helping hand. The relationship between him and Martin was incredibly beautiful, soulful even – healing for both. It was an incredible journey; one we became enthralled with. “You keep going, Maestro. There are no other options.” So; this is where we stumbled on our rating ending up on a 4 instead of a magnificent 5. We cannot express how much we loved this story. It’s a story of human struggle more so than a romance though reading between the lines and musical notes you feel it and you understand the uniqueness of it. This meant that we were hoping and wanting an ending that differed from what we got. Not romance wise because that would have done the originality a disservice. No; what we wanted was more of a resolute ending. The abruptness of it had us quite disappointed after investing every emotional thread in our soul into this story. It was quite an odd end and it still feels like something’s missing when we think about it. We wanted the final symphony; the memory of a perfect finale. We can’t go into detail as the beauty of what we wanted as it would spoil it for future readers. What we will say is that this story deserves to be read and we hope readers pick it up. Despite the ending what came before was truly stunning! ‘There was no answer because no answer existed, and that was the cruellest of all.’ **Reviewed from an ARC copy provided by the author with thanks ** ♥ ♥ ♥ [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest Our links for TB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Totall... 5 STAR REVIEWS FOR : SNOWFLAKES & FIRE ESCAPES by JM DARHOWER and STRANDED by BJ HARVEY [image] SNOWFLAKES & FIRE ESCAPES by J M DARHOWER - Reviewed b 5 STAR REVIEWS FOR : SNOWFLAKES & FIRE ESCAPES by JM DARHOWER and STRANDED by BJ HARVEY [image] SNOWFLAKES & FIRE ESCAPES by J M DARHOWER - Reviewed by Gitte & Jenny J.M Darhower really has the knack for grabbing us the moment we open our kindles to start one of her new stories. This time was no exception. Snowflakes & Fire Escapes had us riveted and we read it in one sitting wanting more long after reading the last page. It was spell binding; intriguing and chock a block of emotion and suspense. The characters had such depth in this flawlessly written story that really packed a punch in such a short space of time. Did we mention we wanted more? *Cough* J.M we want MORE!!!! ‘I don’t put up a fight. It doesn’t matter where I’m going. Not as long as where I’m going, I have him.’ Gracie and Cody had a hard life through no fault of their own; rather their place in it was determined by who they were born to and the roles they had to play to survive. It was heart breaking, so sad – yet so sweet at the same time. Hell’s Kitchen was indeed just that for these two and the obstacles placed in the way kept reminding them of just what they couldn’t have or be. “Couldn’t keep my eyes off you back then, guess I loved you even when I was ten.” The drama was quite action packed and as their story unfolded a new character came into it who we NEED to know more about, yeah we’re talking about Holder! So yeah, we loved this story and we need and want more Cody and Gracie as well as the enigma that is Holden. Pretty please! ‘This couldn’t really be Hell…not when I looked at him and swore I could see Heaven.’ Just as every snowflake is unique and magical; so is J.M Darhower. She mesmerises us every single time. A must read! **Reviewed from an ARC copy provided by the author with thanks** ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [image] STRANDED by BJ HARVEY - Reviewed by Jenny & Gitte “I’d risk anything and everything for her.” It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and what a perfect way to start off our festive season reading than with Stranded by BJ Harvey which is part of the All I Want Anthology! Stranded was everything we could wish for in a Christmas Novella. It was a delicious mix of sweet, flirty, fun, very sexy and Christmassy! Just perfect! Harlow and Porter certainly use their time wisely (and passionately) while they’re stranded in Chicago just before Christmas and we enjoyed every minute spent with them. We’ll put it out there and say we certainly wouldn’t be complaining if we were stuck with the absolutely drop dead gorgeous pilot Porter Daniels for a few days! Whoa! He certainly had us swooning through Stranded that’s for sure! “I’m not strong enough to stay away. I need you more than my next breath, and I plan to keep breathing for a long, long time.” Harlow and Porter both have feelings for each other but they have admired one another from afar. Being thrust together during a snow storm in Chicago, giving them the opportunity to test their feelings and the way BJ Harvey told their story was absolutely wonderful. We believed in the characters and we felt their connection immediately. There’s nothing like a friends to lovers story, add in a Christmas feel, a wonderful story, loads of passion, two characters who are down to earth, no unnecessary drama, and we had a winner with Stranded. In fact we were sad to say goodbye to this couple and could have happily spent more time with them, we loved them THAT much! “Kiss me, Porter.” Stranded gave us that warm, Christmas glow, it left us happy, fulfilled and feeling as though we’d just opened and enjoyed the perfect Christmas present! Anders the cocky and gorgeous movie star of the hour who sweeps through women leaving them the minute he’s had them once and once only. He was a cock – proper egotistical arsehole, but we just couldn’t help but fall in lust and love with him. ‘He was an asshole and a fuckup, and he was going to ruin her, but she wanted him anyway.’ Once unearthed his story was quite heart breaking and emotional but he hid his inner most thoughts and feelings well under a sexy and arrogant armour. That was until Josie; affectionately known as Ivy to our Anders. “Please don’t break me.” Ivy was a down to earth, intelligent and successful woman. She knows what she wants and to begin with that’s one night with a certain sexy movie star whose ego’s as big as his…..However, we don’t always get what we want and sometimes unexpectedly we get more. Josie doesn’t expect a second chance at what she wants or even the magnitude of what this means to her. But Anders is a demanding and persistent lovable bastard who’s learning what it is to let love in and happen once again. Trust when broken is bloody hard to retrieve no matter the player change. “For the record, I wish I could have been enough.” Anders and Ivy’s banter was spot on and had us smiling and chuckling. Their passion was palpable and the heat factor and attraction intense. Anders feels life as he knows it slip between his fingers as his heart is set on what it wants despite his refusing to acknowledge it or know what to do with it. His heart wants Josie. “You want to know what you are to me? You’re mine. That’s what.” This is the book that kept on giving. It was long; a little too long really. It certainly could have done with being shorter as it began to impact our overall enjoyment due to a dragging storyline and some repetition. However; on the whole we really enjoyed Hollywood & Vine; it had all the elements that makes for a great read; well written, humour, drama and romance. We definitely recommend this one! **Reviewed from an ARC Copy provided by the author, with thanks** ♥ ♥ ♥ [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest Our links for TB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Totall... The sheer brilliance and vers [image] “You are my unattainable dream come true.” There’s no doubt about it,Tillie Cole is a remarkable storyteller. The sheer brilliance and versatility of this author ensures we drop everything to devour her next read. Never one to rest on her laurels, she pushes herself emotionally to bring us her story and Heart Recaptured only cemented our passion for her work even further. First off we must applaud Tillie Cole on the research she carried out to bring this story to fruition. It must have been exhausting! When Heart Recaptured arrived on our Kindles, the ‘do not disturb’ sign was up, takeaway was ordered so we could immediately lose ourselves in the world of the Hades Hangmen and again, Tillie Cole did not disappoint! Did we love Heart Recaptured? YES WE DID! Was it everything we’d hoped? For the most part, ABSOLUTELY!!!! Tillie, you did Ky and Lilah proud! ‘She may have thought she was devil-created, but she was flawless. I was pretty damn sure if there was a devil, he had nothing to do with what I was seeing. That was all good, a goddamn fucking blessing.’ We were bursting to hear Ky’s story. Apart from the fact he has a filthy mouth, loves shagging, is a loyal best friend to Styx and possesses a fierce loyalty to his MC brotherhood, we didn’t really know much about him. Just who was Kyler Willis?? We certainly looked forward to finding out! “I’m gonna make you feel beautiful, baby. And you’ll never be made to feel less than anyone else.“ This story was at times tough. Bloody tough! It was evident Tillie Cole dug deep to tell Lilah’s story. Some scenes were particularly harrowing causing our hearts to ache and many tears to be shed. Tillie Cole, you broke us and we can only imagine how difficult it was to bring some parts of this story to life. “We are all fallen in some way, Lilah.” We first met Lilah in It Ain’t Me Babe when she was forced to leave the Religious Cult when mayhem erupted. The self-loathing and suffering this woman endured at the hands of those who should have protected her left us heartbroken. She was such a beautiful character who, despite the pain and torment she had suffered, maintained an innocence that was so endearing. A fragile young woman who found safety in the arms of a rugged, handsome, tough biker. Ky is her unlikely saviour. “I want to be unnoticed. I want not to exist in men’s eyes.” Ky is completely entranced and captivated by Lilah. This man has never known love, thought women were to be bedded and discarded, a view he acquired courtesy of his father. Lilah elicits such intense feelings in him. A mere smile from this woman can bring him to his knees and there is a desperation a need between them that is palpable. Watching Ky step up to protect Lilah had our hearts beating madly. “You are caring. You are loving. You are my teacher, my protector. You keep me safe. Ky, you are my safety.” Unlike Mae, Lilah never questioned her religious teachings and so a significant portion of Heart Recaptured is centred on the religious aspect of the Cult. At first we found this an interesting development, however there was a moment in the middle we began to feel as though the religious aspect was beginning to overshadow Ky and Lilah’s as well as Ky’s own story but being the talented author Tillie is, she pulled us right back, giving us an explosive second part that left us utterly breathless and reeling! “Psalms are poems; you are mine. You are the embodiment of every divine word that could slip from my lips. I adore you, Ky.” Ky and Lilah’s story was a gripping, passionate, unforgiving, heartbreaking and deeply emotional page turner. Tillie Cole is able take us right into her story to a point where we feel, breathe and experience word! She doesn’t shy away from the difficult moments, doesn’t compromise her story nor does she wrap it up in cotton wool. She goes hell for leather, sending us on an emotional journey leaving us exhausted and reliving moments of of her stories again and again. An extraordinary author who constructs her stories and characters in a way that never fails to grip us, enthrall us and keep us coming back for more!!! Bravo Tillie Cole! You brought it lady! “Get those fuckin’ lips on mine, baby..” Now bring on Souls Unfractured next year!!! Flame and Maddie’s story promises to be a cracker and we know it’ll be one hell of a ride with the fucked up but utterly luscious Flame…. **Reviewed from an ARC Copy provided by the author with thanks** ´♥´♥´♥ [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest Our links for TB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Totall... He turns me on, but I couldn’t point him out in a crowd.’ Well, weren’t we excited to jump into this book after having our appetites whetted and our interest piqued in Something Wild. And yes….our pulses were still racing from the thought of more Sam. Something Reckless did not disappoint; the twists, passion, mystery and intense emotions, well it had a bit of everything and we really enjoyed it. We completely took to Liz in the prequel and we fell in love with her spirit; her humour and her obvious romantic heart in Something Reckless. She knows what she wants and she’s determined to find it despite her heart belonging to Sam, as it has done since her teenage years. She tries to deny and ignore but really; she knows it. “I have to protect my heart.” Liz wants love; she needs to feel wanted and to create a home – a family of her own. And wow does she try, but scarily gets herself into a real pickle on her mission. Although she’s quite a strong woman, intelligent and level headed she does harbour some feelings of inadequacies; like she’s not good enough yet wanting and trying to create her own mark on the world. That elusive connection is hard to find when the heart wants what it can’t have. Or can it? We followed her online dating escapades and whilst funny, hot and exciting the mystery of who you’re actually talking too mirrors life. You just never know! ‘I smile, and for a second, I’m just a girl looking at a boy she’s kind of always loved. For a second, it’s not complicated by secretly broken hearts and online affairs.’ Sam….Sam…..Sam….so good we’re kind of lost for words. This man is still quite messed up emotionally and comes across as desperate to find what he truly needs – what he knows is missing. Sam’s shagging himself through life but you just know he wants Liz. Even Sam knows he wants Liz, but there’s always something…She’s always that elusive need and want but ‘something’ always gets in the way be it mistakes, misunderstandings or outside influences. “What do you say, Rowdy? You, me, some alone time?” Sam has a filthy dirty mind and his presence is sexy, controlling and cocky. However, this poor guy doesn’t seem to have control over much at the moment so he definitely makes damn sure he’s still got it in the bedroom! ‘I don’t know how to tell her, how to explain that I don’t really like the man I’ve become but I’m not sure I can be anyone else.’ Their road’s not easy and we haven’t reached the end and with a surprising twisty turn we’re gagging to continue our journey! Bring it on! **Reviewed from an ARC Copy provided by the author with thanks** [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest ✦✦✦ We're on TSU: TB on TSU ...more |

It’s been too long since we’ve read a book in this much loved genre and Wolfsgate seemed like the perfect opportunity to remedy that. Wolfsgate is a story of grief, loss, greed, strength and love and whilst we did enjoy most aspects of the story, there were some issues we found we couldn’t overlook as they impacted our enjoyment of Wolfsgate as a whole. ‘Here he was before her; her tragic howling, lone wolf.’ One of the things we loved immensely were the characters, and in particular, Justine. Justine is without doubt one of our favourites; her strength, her sassiness, her loyalty, honour and the absolute belief she had in Brandon at a time when he didn’t believe in himself, was commendable and endeared her to us completely. There were times this young lady’s story broke our hearts too. She certainly had some obstacles to overcome. “Jus, I want to give you so much….But I’m not sure it’s enough.” Our hero Brandon was gorgeous, strong, dominating and flawed, yet showed a vulnerability that had us sympathising with him and the predicament he found himself in. The nature of his growing love for Justine and the strength they empowered together was breathtaking. “I wish I could save you somehow, but only can save yourself.” The story itself captivated us and we enjoyed the concept of heroine saving hero; then hero saving the heroine in return. We had no problem believing in their friendship and eventual love as the author portrayed this aspect of the story beautifully. The story moved us without question. “You make me feel alive.” Where the telling fell short with us was the portrayal of the period it was meant to be set in. The setting and tone of the story was crucial. Wolfsgate is set in 18th century England and to allow us to become completely swept up with – and – live the story, we have to feel the authenticity. The author has to make us believe we’re in that moment, that we’re seeing the story and the setting through the characters eyes and sadly, overall, that wasn’t consistent. When reading a historical it’s imperative that we vividly see, hear and feel the era. The spelling, language and dialogue must pertain to the period setting of the story. Sadly in Wolfsgate this wasn’t the case and the disconnection with the setting and era was only exacerbated by American spellings and words used in the incorrect context of that time e.g. someone feeling awesome. When this happens, it ceases to feel like a Historical novel somewhat. However, there was much we adored about Justine and Brandon’s love story. The writing itself was beautiful. Their story was moving, dramatic, passionate and steamy. We were swept up in their love and we felt their emotions, we just would have loved to have lived through the period setting with them which would have allowed us to be completely swept up in its beauty. “I feel more like a thousand broken pieces, and I’m not sure what to try to mend first.” “One thing at a time, Brandon. That’s all you can do.” ***Reviewed from an ARC Copy provided by the author with thanks*** [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest ✦✦✦ Come say Hi TB on TSU ...more |

Kiss me like you mean it.” When we saw My Beloved was going to cover the events leading up to the epilogue in Thin Love we HAD to read it! Whilst we were satisfied with how we left this couple, we wouldn’t pass up any opportunity to spend more time with them and gain a little more insight into the raw, intensely passionate love they share. “I told you, baby, I’ll never stop following after you. It’s pointless to keep running. I’ll find you. I’ll always find you.” With all good intentions, Kona wants to lavish Keira with everything he couldn’t when they were apart. His heart is definitely in the right place, it’s just that the execution of his plans isn’t always the best. After all, where Keira is concerned Kona is a man who thinks with his heart, and it’s one of the things that endears him to us. ‘Kona was not perfect, but he was her perfect.’ Keira goes along with his desires, all the while knowing all she wants is Kona, plain and simple, no fanfare, just the man she’s waited more than 16 years to be a part of her life again. “All yours baby. I’ve always been yours.” There are obstacles to overcome, lives to sort out and being thrust into the spotlight at a time when Keira craves privacy isn’t something she relishes at all. You know they’ll mess up, this couple will never do things the easy way and their love is one fraught with obstacles that they have to learn to overcome and in this book we see this couple really dig deep in that regard. ”Don’t lose me, Kona. Don’t let me fall into the background. That’s not where I want to be.” “Baby, never…not ever.” We adored the setting of this book. Eden Butler took us on a trip to Hawaii for a time and we became immersed in the sight, sounds and culture of this beautiful paradise. She really did transport us to this magical place with her words and descriptive prose and Kona’s large family were a delight. There’s lots of emotion, tears, laughter and of course the passion between this couple is off the charts. We enjoyed checking in with this Keira and Kona who’ve had more than their fair share of heartbreak and pain, to see them make up for their heartbreaking time apart was enthralling. “…she is my breath. My life. She has been since I was a kid. She always will be.” There were some truly beautiful moments in this story that went straight to our hearts. Ransom especially was a revelation and his joy at being a family was wonderful. He stole our hearts completely and to see he will get his own book next year….well, we were giddy with excitement! These two are soul mates. No doubt about it. They’ve had their ups and downs, their highs and lows but their love has always brought them through. My Beloved explores their bonds even further and fans of this passionate and intense couple will devour this one! Bring on Thick Love next year! We will be hovering over that 1click button that’s for sure! **Reviewed off an ARC copy provided by the author with thanks ** ♥ ♥ ♥ [image] ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest Our links for TB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Totall...
