I wanted feel good…but I am a little bit broken? (Positive)
A beautiful story about childhood best friends turned strangers turned friends again. Some grief and heartbreak thrown into a grumpy sunshine mix to lighten up the book.
I think it needs to be said from the get go - Lucy is very much a cliched cute awkward girl. Very much a “oh look at me I’m so bubbly and cute and helplessly say these awkward sexy things by accident” ...more

Wheeew, is it really an enemies to lovers if one MC doesn’t threaten to be the end of the other? I think not!
This went surprisingly well for the author’s debut into the adult romantasy genre ...more

I know this is a mood rating for me but I don’t care - this was FUN. It’s about a Fae Princess Madivia “Maddy” Verglas. A princess with an illness that causes her to faint. Maddy has little magic and is pretty much a lost cause. So when the Ice Fae Palace gets a call to say Princess Verglas is being summoned by the Gods for Valkyrie training, everyone just assumes it’s her sister Freya. Especially since Maddy has pretty much been hidden all her life and no one knows about her. Imagine her surprise when they realise the call is for her?!
There’s a bunch of secrets involving hidden powers, hidden magic blah blah blah. Loads of riddles and mysteries blah blah blah. A morally Grey hero - this fire fae who’s been punished and lost his wings but is still incredibly powerful blah blah blah…the usual fantasy romance stuff.
It was good…but I just loved this for Maddy ...more

Wow! Just wow! I really enjoyed this and I’m happy a booktok story lived up to the hype. Before I start my review I want to say this is very YA. By that, I mean the romance writing is very dramatic and lovesick. Which is okay because these are 18/19 year olds. It’s clean with very little spice but I don’t mind that because, again, it’s of course YA.
The world building is extremely easy: elites (those with magic) versus ordinaries (those without magic). And a simple power system for the elites. E.g. the powerful have offensive and defensive magic whilst the least powerful are mundanes.
It’s not a word heavy book with lots of world building. Instead, the romance is deffo the main attraction - We don’t have to fight for scenes between our MCs; they practically tease and flirt with each other on each page from the second they meet (well ‘meet’ is putting it nicely. I’ll let you guys read how Paedyn introduces herself to Kai) ...more

Diem was much better in this book and had stronger faith but she kept making stupid decisions about who deserved mercy. Honestly, Luther’s dad, uncle and Aemon should have been DISPATCHED long ago. Overall she was sharper, stronger and way more confident in her feelings for Luther and their relationship which was nice. It meant there weren’t anymore weird delusions about marrying Henri(ICK).
Luther…I don’t know what happened but my God was he an idiot in this book lol. He made a really stupid decision to hide something that he clearly couldn’t hide and was OBVIOUS. Anyway I still love him and apart from that bit of deceit he was a great character. One of the things Penn got right with Luther? His SWOONWORTHINESS hahaha. He really does make you swoon ...more

This was another interesting read involving politics, disparities between classes and old gods. It’s centred around Diem who I really think is the perfect character; she’s witty, passionate and the right amount of reckless hahaha. The slow pacing of the story is something I really enjoyed which is shocking because I’m normally impatient. But book one literally just introduced key characters and relationships - it left A LOT of unanswered questions and I don’t even think we got that much interaction between the FMC and MMC but that worked well (apart from the fact we didn’t really get an “enemies to lovers” story. It was more, a “learning to trust him from a distance” story if that’s a thing ...more

We are introduced to Dianna, an immortal warrior/general of sorts who works alongside Tobias and Alistair (dicks) for the leader of the otherworld, Kaden (BIGGER DICK). From the beginning you see the dynamics and the hold Kaden has over Dianna. They use her as a weapon to commit all these horrible acts in order to keep her sister safe. Kaden is on a mission to hunt down the Book of Azrael which is supposed to bring the end of the world blah blah blah. He’s a power hungry manipulator and I HATE him, Alistair and Tobias.
