The first few chapters I was not impressed. It was giving Couple at Table 6 (Great book but already done). Delusional chick latches on to a couple. BUT thankfully I knew Daniel was too good to do us like that and I was right.
He had me switching teams every few chapters. Bishes were unhinged, plot twists had me clutching my pearls. I felt like this was a Ricki Lake episode about unrequited love with a splash of Dr. Phil taking about toxic relationships.
Content warning: Emotional and Domestic Abuse are very prevalent in this book. I was in my feelings. I wanted to fight people including our protagonist.
My absolute favorite part was the mic drop at the end. Solid Read, Highly Recommend....more

This story is told from Tily's prospective and it's a bit confusing at first. Tily tends to daydream. Sometimes she will envision or wish for a different scenario then snap back to reality. This took me some time to get used to. I believe this is done because Tily WANTS to be Anastasia Steele. For those familiar with 50 Shades, they will know that she had an inner goddess. I think Tily's daydreaming and how she processes things is in contrast to that.
Tily is so incredibly clueless as to what type of arrangement she has gotten herself into. She's so focused on the sex that it appears she hasn't taken the time to research this new world and the vocabulary used. Her naivety is worrisome and a turn off for me as I have always been pulled toward stronger female leads.
With that said, her mystery dom, is intriguing. He compliments her and encourages her to speak up. He's words are super powerful, and this is just text. I can only imagine what he will be like in person. I just know that it will be life changing for Tily and we will see her grow from this scared little bunny.
I like the premise, I would have appreciated a bit more back story, but it was a good read and I look forward to the actual novel.

Told in 3 POVS, the lone survivor of a mass cult suicide, the cult's golden girl who went missing beforehand and whose eventual death is seen as the catalyst that led to the group's decision to end things, and the actual cult leader as he struggles to gain control of his members and decisions made leading to the deaths. I was not only hooked but impressed with the social/historical examination of prior cults.
The author was obviously inspired by several infamous cults past and present.
Highly Recommend to others who are into true crime and have cult knowledge.

Misha refuses to bury his two queer leads on a show that he is the lead writer on. Ironically despite being known as a top Queer Horror writer, Misha is still closeted back home and has yet to ever speak on his own sexuality publicly.
Misha's willingness to stand up for the Queer community while still refusing to admit he was part of it was super annoying. With that said I liked him. He was sensitive, funny, dramatic, and protective of his friends.
The TMZ like coverage of his public stalking and speculation that Misha was the problem rang very true to what we have seen play out in real life. Despite being an Oscar nominee, he is still facing the threat of being blackballed by not complying. Again, we've seen this in real life. Hollywood is dangerous and fickle.
Gruesome murders, ghosts, monsters, aliens, Skynet level AI, and worms kept Misha on the run and forced to defend himself by any means necessary.
This was incredibly entertaining, highlighted real life issues, and gave us ACE REPRESENTATION something we don't see often as pointed out in this story :)...more

I love me a messy story!!!
So, our girl Leah is married with 4 kids. Her husband is not supportive, romantic, or involved. After 15 years he's basically a roommate. (Been there, felt that)
Practicing self-care, she checks herself into a hotel for the weekend so she can decompress. All of that is innocent, understandable, something MORE women should practice because we all need a break.
However, when her boss shows up in the middle of the night knocking on her door bringing pizza and good dick, I was like WHATTTTTTTT!!!!!! What's even crazier is she has NEVER met this man in person, they have only ever tele-worked, and he's married too!!
She did NOT ask this man to show up. She had not been flirting or dropping hints. But the attraction and opportunity was there and I was NOT mad at our girl when she ceased it.
IF cheating is a trigger for you don't read this. It's HOT, very spicy and other then the mention of their home lives and ONE phone call, their respective significant others aren't really factors in this story. This is fiction/fantasy and I while I personally live a straight and boring life. I love reading/watching dramatic shit.
** I confirmed with the author that Leah and Dean will be getting a full-length book and Dean's wife will get her HEA as well. When you read Leah's husband, you'll be like Yeah F this guy lol**
**** Side Note: If you have met the author in real life, you would know she is a tiny adorable little thing. I was NOT expecting all that pipe from her. Well Done!! ****...more

I really enjoyed the family interactions well not with Armando but fuck him. I appreciated everyone but him. This is the second book in her series. I listened to the audio as an ARC. I had no issues reading this as a standalone but want to read the first book expeditiously and the rest of the series as it's translated. I can confidently say Antonia and her partner Jon are something special.
I loved the writing, and the Guy Ritchie type action. ...more

I hated her husband from the jump and knew that ONE of the new neighbors had to be up to something.
I enjoyed this story but it wasn't special. It was entertaining in a way that a Sunday afternoon Lifetime Network suspense keeps you captivated.

Especially in the stories where they were the ones to be feared!!
Soooo much YES for this one. I'd love to see some of the stories adapted for screen. The forward really resonated with me because they discussed the lack of representation of black women in horror and specifically cited Rachel True MY favorite CRAFT girlie.
I would love to see more spotlights on black women in horror where we aren't a side character for comedic relief, an early death, or simply forgotten. ...more

Here's the deal, I can usually finish a book of this length in less than 2 days. I am currently on day 4 and I literally have no desire to finish it. With that said, you are probably like bitch if you didn't finish it, how you gonna give it 3 stars?!?!
Let me explain, this book started out very good. I was super excited about the action, the strong female leads, the terminator robots, the the theme of overthrowing your oppressors. There were a lot of good moments. I got the following vibes - Woman King, Linda Hamilton aka Sara Connor, and John Wick BADASSNESS.
I thought the introduction of a sadist female villain was a unique choice as well. But things got weird and lost and confusing. Our FMC is annoying, the obsession with tit talk is getting old, the emotional relationship between the FMC and her sisters is seriously lacking, and now our FMC has been forced to undergo a Bionic Woman makeover with a Kim K ass.
I just can't ya'll. I never thought I'd say this but I need this book to be longer so that the author can fill in the gaps and do better transitions. Half the time I don't know how our girl got from Point A to Point B.
Three stars for me means it's a good book. I do believe this has a lot of good elements. But I can't continue myself to read this as my ADD can't keep up with all that is going on. ...more

She finds herself in poetry, unfortunately an opportunistic older man uses her new interest as a means to groom her, use her, take advantage of the fact that she is desperately seeking validation and love.

The way this story had me a choke hold was insane.
I smiled, I laughed, I held my breath, I got mad, big mad, I cried. And then at 85% I had to take a break and just breath and reflect because thoughts of the Panter 21 and the Central Park 5 were racing through my mind, and I had to process.
This was beautifully written, the author takes us through the events leading up to an explosion that is deemed domestic terrorism and the arrest, incarceration, trail, and aftermath of 6 teens who were attending their respective Muslin Student Association event and targeted as scapegoats for a massive coverup.
If you read this and at any point, think that this is unbelievable then you truly are living in a bubble and are not aware of the corruption in our legal system and the ability to buy a cover up. Let's not forget major corporations have gotten away with poisoning entire towns.
It was a privilege to read this story and I hope that once it releases that it catches the eyes and hears of Hollywood because an adaptation be it a series or movie would be impactful. ...more
