I didn't really care for the characters, the "twist" wasn't a twist and the ending felt a little ridiculous. It did get exciting right before the ridiculousness, but alas, here we are. Readers should know that sex is discussed quite heavily as the whole premise is trying to get revenge on guys who are trying to go as far as they can with girls for points.

I've never read Northanger Abbey, and this took a little bit for me to get into, but I did end up enjoying it and the main characters. It's not going to change my life, but it was cute and did have the character vulnerability and growth I look for in any book I read.

I've been in a reading slump lately, so what better way to get out of it then reading books I loved in Junior High!
I must admit it's not amazing. ButI've been in a reading slump lately, so what better way to get out of it then reading books I loved in Junior High!
I must admit it's not amazing. But I enjoyed reading it for nostalgic sake and it was pretty short. I almost read it in one sitting. I could see preteens still liking this if they can get over the fact that the main character doesn't have a cell phone, the internet, or (gasp!) a fax machine! The suspense is there and while I would have liked more character development, I didn't dislike the main character.
Content: a little violence and an implied cruelty to animals (I could handle it, so it must be pretty mild)

It was cute and I liked the "ARMY" mention in the acknowledgements. I would have liked more character development. I felt like Winter's and Penelope's relationship had more vulnerable moments than his and Sydney's, but I'll probably pick up the next book. I do admit to being surprised of a couple of plot twists. That doesn't happen often to me, so authors deserve a shout out when they do manage to take me by surprise.

Not as strong as book one because, honestly, not that much happened. But I will say I enjoyed this more than the Cursebreakers book 2, and I 3.5 stars
Not as strong as book one because, honestly, not that much happened. But I will say I enjoyed this more than the Cursebreakers book 2, and I still like our main characters. I did get frustrated a little bit with decisions they were making and lack of communication, but overall, I still enjoyed reading it. Cliffhanger ending, so I look forward to reading the next book. Probably in a year.

I've never been truly disappointed in a Brigid Kemmerer book before, but this was it. I liked it at the beginning. Kemmerer is really good at characters and I liked Thomas and Charlotte. The second half, especially the end, was what turned me off. It just felt confusing and incomplete. I wouldn't only recommend reading this one if you want to be a Kemmerer completist, like me. Though, it is a quick read, so I don't feel like I wasted my time. (She is one of the only YA authors I still read)....more

I have read this series before and somehow (HOW!?) forgot about the heartbreaking moment in this book. My only explanation is that I must have blocked it out of my memory.
Anyways, heartbreak aside, this is one of the weaker books in the series just because I never quite connected with Michael and Hannah. I liked both of them, but didn't care as much if they got together. The action was good and even though I'm heartbroken over what happens, there is hope and happiness too. Overall, this was a great series by Brigid Kemmerer. I just have to remember for her future books that she isn't afraid to kill off characters I love. That is all.

They are fully developed and there is more to them than their sexuality. I appreciate this. I liked Nick and Adam's story. Like Gabriel Merrick, I really don't like Quinn. I should be able to relate to her since she is a dancer without the standard dancer body, but she has a huge chip on her shoulder. I understand she has a lot of crap going on at home, but I still didn't really like reading from her perspective. Still a decent book in the series.

He's got trust issues, which can get a bit much, but from how he's been brought up, it makes sense. This one is more sad than any other in the series as not everything works out. But I like it and I'm a bit bummed that this is the only book from Hunter's perspective.

Re-read. Gabriel is my favorite brother and I really like his story. Lane is also interesting and likeable. I really like how she's able to be such a positive influence. There are a lot of fires in this book. I dropped this down 1/2 a star because there are animals that don't make it out of a couple of the fires and I really don't like animal suffering in books. Not that you're supposed to, but it put a damper on my enjoyment of the book. Some people don't make it out either, but animals bother me more in books.
Anyways...I continue to like Brigid Kemmerer.
