Gostei muito da relação entre Connell e a mãe, já Marianne e toda a complexidade e vulnerabilidade envolvendo ela e todos seus relacionamentos mexeu muito comigo.
Ela e Connell acabam desenvolvendo essa relação, bonita e triste ao mesmo tempo, é bem difícil de acompanhar o rumo que o relacionamento deles segue, e a perda daquela conexão inicial, porém eles têm esse laço que apesar de tudo permanece.
Acho que o livro captura bem esse sentimento de não conseguir se achar e incapacidade de fazer a outra pessoa feliz, de satisfazer a si mesmo, enfim, de conseguir viver através de todas as complicações internas e também externas de um mundo cada vez mais superficial, instável e confuso....more

Eu amei esse livro, o clima, os personagens, a escrita, a forma como o autor narra a história, as 'quebras' que ele faz pra conversar com o leitor, as comparações, os dados estatísticos que ele põe, enfim a escrita é brilhante! Os protagonistas Sarah e Charles são dois personagens muito bons, Sarah é como o próprio Charles fala no livro 'uma mulher extraordinária' ela é tão misteriosa e com um ar tão melancólico, o deixa intrigado e facinado desde o começo porém a história deles não é uma história de amor convencional. Em meio a era vitoriana Sarah tinha uma horrível reputação naquela sociedade por todos saberem do caso que ela teve com um tenente francês que a abandonou, Charles quando a conhece está noivo de outra, e ela aparece para literalmente abalar sua vida, suas convicções, fazê-lo questionar tudo ao se comportar de uma forma que nenhuma mulher ousaria. O livro é incrível ao abordar a sociedade vitoriana, a hipocrisia, toda a repressão sexual dessa época, faz um paralelo com diferentes classes sociais, aborda a teoria da evolução de Darwin que chocou muitos vitorianos... A única coisa que eu sinto que faltou foi sabermos mais dos pensamentos e sentimentos dela, ao final do livro Sarah segue sendo um mistério ainda em muitos aspectos......more

O retrato da Era Medieval, ou seja a idade das trevas, com a população mergulhada em superstições e fanatismo religioso além de toda a violência e a crueldade daquele período e da sociedade patriarcal onde as mulheres deviam total submissão aos homens da família sem poder questinar nada. Foi um livro rápido de ler, com uma história que prende do começo ao fim.

O personagem principal, Erik tem seu rosto desfigurado e é obrigado a usar uma máscara, ele sofre por nunca ter sido amado por ninguém incluindo sua mãe. Ele se abriga no subsolo da ópera de Paris usando suas habilidades e truques e fazendo com que todos ali pensem que há um fantasma assombrando a ópera, porém ao se apaixonar por Christine, uma das cantoras, ele se torna cada vez mais perigoso e causa inúmeros problemas ao decidir sequestra-lá. Eu achei o Erik um personagem maravilhoso, apesar de não concordar com suas atitudes, a trajetória dele é incrível, seu final triste e melancólico. A atmosfera do livro é sombria mas também engraçada em alguns momentos, eu amei muito esse livro....more

Sofri muito com o inicio desse livro, algumas partes muito tristes e difíceis de acompanhar com vilões realmente tenebrosos que te deixam com muita raiva, mas é um livro que mexeu comigo e que valeu muito a pena ler!...more
