There wasn't too much of a story apart from travelling and a teenager creating a new religion and trying to get followers (which never felt very believable).
The ending was abrupt and a bit of a nonstarter. I may read the sequel at some point though it isn't a priority....more

It was very simple and predictable and you know everyone and everything is going to end wholesomely. At times it read like a side quest in a RPG or a cooking game where you level up your recipes and appliances. The low stakes, minimal plot in a fantasy setting with coffee vibes didn't really do it for me. I prefer more plot/fantasy and some stakes. Doesn't help that I don't like coffee either!...more

It was just very boring. Unlike other reviews I didn't find Muderbot funny and the lack of any kind of descriptions or information in this novella made me not care for any of the characters or the story and made the overall narrative bland. The characters other than Murderbot just as well have all been the same person as there was very little information about each of them besides a name and their existence added virtually nothing to the plot. By the end of the book I was glad the ending was so abrupt as it meant it was over sooner than I thought....more

This was an enjoyable read full of Asian mythology and the setting was beautiful. However, I would have liked to feel more emotions from events happening and some plot points felt a bit too convenient and at times Xingyin seems to suddenly change her feelings/attitude towards something/someone without much time or thinking.
I did correctly predict certain events/characters happening so I was never surprised by anything however Xingyin's journey was still eventful but lacked the ability to get me fully invested in the characters....more

The Hope of Elantris was a really good short story set during the events of Elantris. Mistborn Secret History was awesome and mind blowing and Edgedancer was an entertaining read which fleshed out the character of Lift from the Stormlight Archive. The short stories Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell and Sixth of the Dusk were great and I could easily read a full size novel based around them....more

As was the case with The Way of Kings, the plot, characters and world were developed brilliantly. This is Shallan's book and though I didn't enjoy her flashbacks as much as I did Kaladin's, I stilled enjoyed them a lot and really enjoyed her growth in this book. Dalinar and Kaladin are still my favs and I love the men of Bridge Four and their wholesomeness, whenever Rock and Lopen are on the page I can't help but smile. The intrigue in this book had me hooked and I can't wait to discover what happens next in Oathbringer. ...more

So epic, so amazing, I can't convey how much I enjoyed every single page of this beast. Why have I waited so long to read it? Part four was such a whirlwind of emotions. I pretty much didn't move from my position on the sofa while reading it, leading me to staying up until gone 4:30am on a work night. But boy was it worth it. The worldbuilding in this is incredibly detailed even down to plant species. The characters are incredible. The storytelling is incredible and Sanderson's plot twists blew my mind at times. I enjoyed reading all the different perspectives. Reading about Kaladin's past and his brother broke my heart. I liked all the characters but my favourites so far have to be Kaladin and Dalinar. Kaladin is so precious, I just want to give him and all of Bridge Four a hug. As for Dalinar I just love him. I teared up (sometimes full on cried) at multiple points in this book, sometimes from sadness and sometimes from happiness. I had extremely high expectations before reading this book after loving everything else Cosmere but this shattered all those expectations and instantly became my favourite Sanderson book I've read. This is epic fantasy at its best....more

I knew pretty soon into the book that it would be a new favourite of mine and it didn't disappoint. Warbreaker is relatively slow-paced but it is never boring and I kept wanting to turn the page. The tension is built up slowly and the slow burn really pays off at points when the plot intensified. Each character you follow develops and their characterisations feel completely distinct. Warbreaker is a very character-driven book and each character and their arc's were so well done, I love each one for different reasons. Siri and Vivenna's transformations felt really authentic and loved their arcs. Lightsong was great and he reminded me a bit of Wayne from Mistborn Era 2 who I also think is great. Vasher and his sword Nightblood intrigued me from the start, who doesn't like a bloodthirsty sword. The God King was a fantastic character and I really liked his plot with Siri. The relationships between characters were great, I particularly like the banter between Vasher and his sword Nightblood, and Denth and Tonk Fah. As usual with a Sanderson book the magic system is amazing and so unique. I never would have thought that a magic system based on colours and breath could work but Sanderson makes it work brilliantly. ...more
