I don't connect with characters, the plot isn't coming together even halfway through the book - it just feels like a jumble and I'm not able to make sense of it. I can't tell you how important This wasn't a bad story by any means, but I think it really could have benefitted from a (or a different) copy editor. I can't tell you how important that is to some readers - especially neurotic ones like me. It instantly takes me out of a book when, specifically, the grammar is off or when a phrase is repeated too many times.
This is extreme horror and contains extreme content.
