And it was especially apropos considering Alisha Rai had a tweet go viral a few months ago. Kat was already an intriguing character in The Right Swipe. A silent investor and wealthy widow who has anxiety. As a reader with anxiety, she was extremely relatable. The fears and the swiftness of her anxiety attacks as well as accepting their role in her life was all relatable and well written. In addition, the role of Kat's bodyguard and hero Jas was equally as well fleshed out and written. This was an emotional story that handles events of our current world in a skillful and well-crafted manner. ...more

I'm a huge fan of Rebekah's and I was excited for an amnesia plot and cowboys and a chef. But something about this story didn't pull me in. I kept picking it up and putting it down. The last 20% did keep my interest and I finished the book. I think it was a combination of a lot of characters, and a lot of different tropes between Zach and Evie. Evie was the driving force in the book but I feel like she was developing as one person with the amnesia and when she recovered, she was a different person. I did like Zach but I had a hard time understanding his past reasonings. I have high hopes for the next book in the series though. ...more
Honestly, this was the first book I read by Mia Sosa but it certainly won't be the last! There were moments when I laughed out loud. Lina partly blameHonestly, this was the first book I read by Mia Sosa but it certainly won't be the last! There were moments when I laughed out loud. Lina partly blames Max for her ex-fiance running out of her wedding day and hates that she needs to work with him to get her dream job. Max wants to step out of his older brother's shadow and this job presentation with Lina is the way to do it. The attraction between them is burning but because of their past ties, neither want to give in immediately. This is a joyous ride full of funny moments, excellent supporting characters, and truly a satisfying love story. ...more

Calia herself waI really enjoyed Tracey Livesay's first book in The Girls Trip series. Calia's friends were a blast and I can't wait for their books. Calia herself was a complex and determined character who needed to figure out how to deal with her grief and the stress she put on herself. Wyatt was the easy-going mayor who needs to prove to himself that he can do good for his town. And learn how to stand up to his family in the process. I loved watching them fight their attraction and give in. Overall, an enjoyable read! ...more

Zaf is 100% my new book boyfriend! He loves Dani so deeply and completely and it’s just adorable! They have this flirty friendship thing going on in the beginning of the book and then move to a pretend relationship when he literally carries her from a building and they go viral on social media! He has anxiety and needs to learn to let go and Dani, even with her crazy, work-focused self, is great for that. They just fit together so well. I can’t recommend this book enough!...more

Amira and Duncan clashed on their first meeting. Then their forced proximity lead to an antagonistic relationship which was clearly displaying the attraction between them. While Amira and Duncan both come from very different backgrounds, they also have similarities and determination for what they want in life. The Chai Factor includes a cast of colorful and vibrant minor characters that complement the well-crafted main characters. Set firmly in the current political environment, this book does not shy away from the serious issues affecting immigrant and minority families in Canada. The overwhelming theme is that those different from us are not being viewed as people but rather "other" and how those horrible politics and views affect the everyday life of Amira and her family. Also addressed is the internal prejudices in Amira's community and the parallels between that and harmful prejudices of Duncan's family. This book is thoughtfully crafted, with strong and relatable characters and serious issues handled with care. At its core, it is a beautiful love story. ...more

She decides early in the book to take a big step and change her life. Red, her erstwhile landlord ends up getting roped into her new adventures. Their immediate chemistry burns up the pages. But what I loved even more than that was how supportive Red was of Chloe and both her desires and her failings. This was honestly a fantastic book! ...more
