With that kind of a blank slate, I went into this story, and came out very disappointed with it!
There wasn't a lot of world building done, so I was a bit lost when it was talking about the different kinds of fallen angels. The romance was somewhat interesting, but felt very rushed. In fact, the whole story was rather rushed and just felt off to me, making for a lackluster read. I doubt I will continue the series.

It was nothing more than an extended sex scene with a lot of whining about economic inequality and general insecurities! The writing wasn't bad, and I did like the descriptions of the setting, but other than that, there wasn't much to recommend this book. Since I have already purchased the second book in the series, I'll read it to see if things improve, but I'm not expecting them to.

I found it to be a very short but interesting look into the life of Jack Dandy! I liked how he wasn't just the self-made King of the Underworld, but someone truly worth knowing. His style was impeccable, and I liked how he took up a cause, despite not seeming to care about anything or anyone in previous stories! All in all, an entertaining extra addition to the series!

Also, I really couldn't get the attraction between Colt and Zanna, and all three of the brothers had issues that made it difficult for me to like them as characters. I found the book to be rather uninteresting, to the point where I returned the second book in the series, as I really didn't want to continue with the series! I may see about finishing the series from the library, but I won't be spending money on it.

The major problem I had with this was that there was no communication between Hayden and Bex, especially about the events of their past. They fell into a "relationship" very quickly, and never dealt with anything! The ending of the book brought everything to a head, with lots of conflict and angst, but I felt that this couple was too much in their own heads and not as an actual growing couple.
I also felt that this book was based on more manipulation than all the others combined. I get that the mom, Emily Archer, wants the family together and near her, but she took it a bit too far with Hayden and Bex. She didn't even know what her actions would do to those she "loved"! Granted, it was because Hayden and Bex had kept secrets, but her manipulating the situation to throw them together didn't exactly help matters either. It left a very bitter taste in my mental palate!
All things considered, the series is a good one, but this book was a weak finish for me. I'm interested to see what happens with the Westcott siblings, so I hope to see more of Ribbon Ridge!

First and formost, I couldn't form a connection with Julia/Abigail. I get that her childhood abuse and job made her emotionally aloof, but she took it a bit too far for me. Second, while I normally enjoy love triangle romances, there's usually something about one of the guys that makes me root for one over the other. Not so with this book! Both heroes were good for Julia, and I couldn't decide who I wanted her with! Finally, while this book was action and intrigue packed, it got bogged down in spots and felt like it dragged on a bit too long. While I think I've read and enjoyed other books by this author, I don't think this particular series of hers would be worth continuing.

Both Lilly and Nate were unlikable characters, and their arguments were rather annoying over the course of the book. I couldn't believe in their love story, because their hatred of each other was too pervasive throughout the book. The only thing I did enjoy was seeing the couple of the previous book actually get married and find out what was going on with them. I couldn't figure out why the heroine got pregnant, as condom breakage was never mentioned and her lack of birth control never discussed. Made the heroine pretty stupid in my book! The book blurb was a bit misleading about her problems with the company her father ran, as they didn't object to her lack of husband or pregnancy but her previous career. The hero wasn't very personable, and I felt he lacked something that the rest of the agency bodyguards had, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. Wolf's attitude was rather unbelievable as well, even with the amnesia. Belinda was a cute heroine overall, but I didn't like her shyness. It hampered her ability to do what she wanted to do, and was more often than not used as a scapegoat for something that negatively impacts her. I did like how we got resolution on who would take over for their father, but the ending epilogue didn't really make much sense. I wanted to really like this story, but it didn't quite live up to 4 star caliber for me.
It starts out overlapping the events of Incandescent, but told from a different point of view. I really didn't like how Holly was portrayed in this overlap, and maybe that was intentional, but even when the tragedy happened, I couldn't shake my dislike of her, especially when she acted like a wimp and couldn't open up about everything that happened there.
Sy didn't help matters any, with his attitude, especially when his attitude got the better of him and he acted like a jerk to everyone. However, he had a good reason for not opening up and having a bad attitude, and it was shown in a series of flashbacks. I liked how we got to see the resolution of his past in this story.
We got a better look at club life and I could see some connections being made for subsequent stories. The story didn't drag, but it wasn't that great either. Definitely interested in continuing the series, but this isn't a good link in the chain for me....more

Griffin was your typical gruff mountain man hero, but what I liked about him was the fact that he had some serious regrets when it came to Audrey. It made him a more realistic hero, in my opinion. His quirk with Star Wars was especially endearing!
Audrey was a bit of a hot mess, but that was just on the surface. I came away with the impression that she really loved her cooking skills, was surprised by them, and wanted to stand on her own, rather than running to her rich mommy all the time. It made the end of the book that much more wrenching!
I also enjoyed the secondary characters, and really wanted to see what happened with them all! The author really wove them into the story well, so that you're not just invested in the main couple, you're invested in the whole farm/town! With three books already published, I can only hope that there will be more to come from this series!...more
