I gotta say I didn't really like Sloane but her friendship with Emily was sweet and let me just say the romance has been written sooo well. I am a sucker for slow burn friends to lovers stories. This one has been on point. ...more

The book started off at a pretty slow pace, built up for a while and then started to get super intense. I've enjoyed the writing, the point of view was well written and I've liked the outcome of the story. It might not have been the most unpredictable thriller I have read but it was for sure a good one. I didn't see the ending coming, expected something else, which is important to me when it comes to a thriller. ...more

Nothing that has happened in this novel felt out of place. It's to feel like as if this a story the author of Peter Pan came up with so in other words Christina Henry is a genius in my opinion. I am convinced J.M Berrie would have loved this.
She took the story that so many of us have loved growing up and turned it into a brutal, bloody and sinister prequel to explain how Hook became of the villain of Peter Pan.
Jamie is a pretty well written and complex character. He is brutal, the best fighter and has been chosen as Peter's right hand. He is his favorite of them all. On the other side he is very caring about the other boys and tries to keep them all alive. I would say he is some kind of father figure for them, which is something Peter isn't too happy about since all he thinks about is playing and having fun. He got all the character traits we know he has, just in a more sinister and brutal type of way. He doesn't care if one of the boys die or get hurt because he can easily replace them if they do. To him all of the boys are pretty much nothing but toys to play with. Something Jamie doesn't agree with. I think it was super interesting to see two characters, that have been friends for so many years, in the main focus of the book. Getting more into the story you can clearly see why the two end up as enemies in the very end. Not just because of what happens during this novel but also over their personalities.
Overall 5/5 of stars and I might just buy every retelling Christina Henry has written to fall in love with them aswell. ...more
