There was even one that hit my neighborhood a few weeks ago, but luckily they were able to contain it before it hit our street. That fear of wildfires is real right now and made Mountain Abduction Rescue all the more vivid for me. This story seems so plausible that I could easily envision it happening right now in real time.
Jackson’s troop has been abducted, possibly by a serial arsonist, and though Hazel knows that her eight-year-old son is trained to handle the wild her mind can’t help but hold her greatest fears captive. She will do anything to get to her son, as any good mother would, and has the help of her best friends brother (and her old crush) Mitchell to help fight the terrain to find her son. They both share a love of the mountains and Mitchell has a fierce determination to protect Hazel, and find Jackson, at all costs.
Imagine all the emotions that would be whirling through you when your young son is possibly being held captive by a serial arsonist and you’re searching for him with your ex-crush who broke your heart years prior. On top of a crazy man that keeps setting fires that puts the heroes in even greater danger. Talk about drama!
For not being outdoorsy by any means, I sure do love a good suspense that is set in the mountains. I guess I love to live vicariously through the characters, and the more on the edge of my seat I am the better the journey, and Mountain Abduction Rescue knocked it out of the park. My heart went out to Hazel, and Mitchell was such an amazing help and support. I was on the edge of my seat, the action almost nonstop as wave after wave knocks Hazel and Mitchell down.
The Love Inspired Suspense series is always a favorite of mine, and this novel was no exception. I love that I can get lost so quickly in this narrative, the characters are well-developed and written with such heart, and the suspense is truly entertaining. This is a great summer read that is also pretty scary when you think that something like this could actually happen.

I have always been a fan of her clean suspense novels, but she is switching things up with a clean contemporary romance in her first Love Inspired Romance novel, A Father for Her Boys.
The chemistry between Nathaniel and Sofia is obvious from their first chance encounter and you see their relationship naturally progress over time as Sofia adjusts to being the guardian of her two young nephews while the three of them grieve an incredible personal loss, and Nathaniel is fighting the pain of losing his first love. Together, Sofia and Nathaniel create a beautiful friendship while also wrestling with their feelings for one another as they navigate the summer together, both bonding by their natural attraction as well as their individual anguish.
The characters won me over in this novel. Danielle always does such an incredible job of creating individuals with such depth and heart that you can’t help but feel connected to them. The overall vibe is one of hope amid the pain and the knowing that it will not always be like this, a powerful message that we all need to be reminded of from time to time.
Being a mom of two boys myself I feel like this made me connect to this story on an even deeper level, as I too went through a time of being a single parent with two young boys and reading this brought me back to that place. During those darker moments I wish I would’ve had an inspirited read like this for me to escape into and I loved this little departure from reality. Though there is grief that is dealt with it comes from a place of promise, giving off hopeful vibes right along with the love that is blossoming, and I am here for all of it.

Sierra has to protect her infant nephew from her sister’s evil ex-boyfriend, who will stop at nothing to get documents that will incriminate his nefarious deeds that Sierra’s sister has hidden from him. Detective Cole comes to the rescue to help protect Sierra and her infant nephew from the relentless psychopath.
Sierra and Cole have a complicated past, as they were once engaged, but Sierra had broken off the engagement when her fear of his profession being too dangerous overrode her commitment. The moment they are back in each other’s lives it’s obvious that the feelings have no dissipated over the years, and I love this for them. I am a sucker for a good second chance romance, and with them both being great characters they truly deserve one another. Going through this ordeal makes Sierra see exactly why she broke off her engagement to Cole but how can she continue to justify this choice when all her heart wants is him?
I really felt the emotion in this novel, along with some truly heart-pounding suspense. The attention to detail is such a testament to Tina Wheeler. She is amazing at putting you in these tense moments, giving such amazing suspense, while also giving her characters such heart and depth on a masterful level. The perpetrator is truly terrifying and I hate to think that there are such menacing individuals that are lurking out there somewhere in the shadows. Then there is the whole mystery surrounding what is going on with Sierra’s sister, which adds yet another layer of complexity and tension. One thing I absolutely adored was being able to see Jackson and Bailey from Ranch Under Fire again! It’s always such a treat to see characters from past novels that I loved reading.
I devoured this novel in one sitting and enjoyed every heart-pounding moment. It’s so well-written with good characters, has such fast-paced suspense, and is full of faith, love, and second chances. A truly enjoyable and suspenseful read!

The series kicks off with Macey Stone, a character that you can’t help but root for. After dealing with an embarrassing end to a nannying job, Macey finds herself back home in Colorado, and in front of her ex-best friend, Cole, the last place she wanted to be.
Cole is all around a great guy with a wonderful heart and admirable drive and determination. The feelings between Cole and Masey are obvious, but past hurts make things complicated, not to mention the current situation they find themselves in. Is anything ever easy in life? It seems like the more they try to stay away from one another the more the universe wants them together, but that means facing old wounds, and fighting to do what is right in the face of adversity.
This novel seriously has all the feels, and then some. Cole’s daughter Lexi was definitely a bright spot, and the perfect balance to the drama that is swirling around, especially when its comes to Cole’s uncle Wallace. Seeing Cole, Macey, and Lexi together, as well as the whole Stone family, was truly heartwarming. Faith and family are abundant, and you can’t help but root for these characters and crave to see that happily ever after. Reading this novel gets me so excited about this series, and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the Stone family!

There isn’t any groundbreaking information that I haven’t heard before, but it was a good refresher and reminder on what I need to do to build muscle and see success. There is a pretty detailed anatomy lesson in the Building Muscle section that is easy to read and understand, and the text even includes diagrams, something which I greatly appreciated. I also liked the ‘Key Points’ at the end of each chapter, further driving the main points of each chapter home. I liked the straightforward language and how there wasn’t a lot of fluff but factual information that can easily be referenced over and over again.
There is a lot of repetition that is redundant but also important to drive home certain points and to educate the reader. I do not regret reading this one bit and see it as a great refresher for those of us that have some education in the subject, and amazing for those that are just starting out.

These sisters really did lose their mother and grandfather and had to deal with Auschwitz, the death marches, and antisemitism.
Cibi, Magda and Livia fight to keep the promise that they made to their father to always be together and help one another no matter what. This is a promise that is increasingly hard to keep as the sisters are separated time and time again as the war rages on and then ends with the whole continent being turned upside down. From death camps to adjusting to freedom in a new country, the sisters each have their own unique stories and experiences, which really adds to the charm and heartbreak of this novel.
As with any WWII Holocaust story I wish this wouldn’t have ever happened to begin with. I think the author did a phenomenal job of keeping the integrity of the sister’s story.
My favorite part was the afterwards at the end of the novel that share notes from those that lived this story, the sisters themselves. There were so many moments that I was reading that I was trying to wrap my mind around the fact that this was based on a true story, but reading these notes really brought it all home. So many didn’t live to tell their stories, but I am so thankful that Cibi, Magda and Livia made it through and lived to tell the tale.

It’s obvious that Jillian still has things that she has to deal with but the fact that she is focusing on her baby, and getting her life back together, shows what strength this woman has within.
“Like Joseph told his brothers, what was intended for evil, God used for good,” and this is fleshed out in Jillian’s life as she deals with an unexpected pregnancy that came about in the most horrific way possible. Now she is back in Hope Crossing hoping for a fresh start and back in Gabriel’s life, the ties that bind these two pulling them together once again.
This was a sweet escape that gave me hope. God really can, and does, use all things for His good and glory. This was a tough subject to tackle, but it was handled with such grace and mercy, and I could see this story benefiting many.

This series is so relaxing and I adore all of the characters so much. In Just Add Friendship we focus on Stephenie and new character, Cal, an old high school crush that comes back into the picture during a high school reunion.
Cal seems too good to be true, to the point that even I questioned where his flaws were. Can a man really be this perfect outside of a Hallmark movie?? Stephenie seems to feel the same way, to the point that her actions show just how emotionally stunted she is. I found myself really struggling to connect with her character, but I love, love, love Gramps! That crotchety old man is what made this novel for me, as well as the rest of the side characters, many who are from previous novels in the series. Gramps keeps Steph on her toes and provides a nice counterbalance to Cal’s perfection. Plus, he reminds me of my departed grandfather, whom I miss every day, which I have to admit was also bittersweet.
Reading Just Add Friendship felt like I was coming home, with all the warm and fuzzy feels. There’s no real deep drama, so much so that I actually craved a little more conflict. Stephenie acts out of fear and though she does show some growth in this area it wasn’t enough for me. Over and over I kept thinking I needed more and sadly the more never came.
I love how close knit Everly Falls is and how each novel truly is a continuation of the previous in the series. These characters feel like family to me and I love seeing them all grow with each other and in the series as a whole. This novel has a wonderfully relaxed flow with flawed and (mostly) relatable characters, and was truly a joy to read....more

Billionaire Henry Davenport loves two things: spending money and matching up his friends. So far his endeavors have been nothing but a success, so he has another go and sets his eyes on his good friends, millionaire seeker Cynthia Sterling, and trying-to-escape-his-family Cade Armstrong Waters. Cynthia represents everything Cade is trying to escape from, but when Henry agrees to an insanely generous donation to Cade’s foundation for at-risk children in exchange for spending two weeks on a deserted island with Ms. Sterling it is an offer Cade can’t refuse. Thus begins The Island Adventure.
It felt like I was in a dream the entire time I read. I normally am not one for billionaires as they normally rub me the wrong way, but there was something magnetic about Cade and Cynthia, though it took me some time to get there. Truth be told, Cynthia annoyed me from the get-go. She is so overly self-absorbed and superficial that it is beyond cringy to read, but over time she did grow on me, and her redemption arc is one of the strongest I’ve read in awhile. I liked Cade from the start, though it’s clear that he too has quite a chip on his shoulder. Once I saw Cade and Cynthia together it’s obvious what Henry saw all along. They truly bring out the best in one another and give the other a reason to grow, and you love to see it.
There are moments that are tongue in cheek, while also scenes that are nothing short of magic, and everything in between. There truly is not a dull moment in this novel and I loved every bit of it. There is something endearing about a billionaire matchmaker and flawed, privileged characters that you love to see, and I cannot wait to see where this new series takes us next!

Stephen Roth is hired by Thea to be a tutor to her two sons, but what neither Roth nor Thea know is the powerful influence Roth with infuse into the household that is still in mourning after the death of their patriarch.
Roth pairs with the children nicely, and some of my favorite parts were the whole family doing normal things, like taking a meal together, and bearing witness to their interactions as Roth instructs the children. It’s clear from the beginning they all have an undeniable chemistry, as Roth is able to turn this household on its head and help for the better.
There were so many scenes that captured my heart, and the more I read the more I fell in love, which isn’t surprising since a marriage of convenience is one of my favorite troupes.
I do have to admit that this novel took me a few chapters to get into. I was a little bored until the mysterious occurrences intensified and then I couldn’t put it down. I did guess the culprit early on, but it didn’t take away from the dramatic ending whatsoever, and I was elated to see such a picturesque resolution.
Overall, the novel has a nice flow, the characters are wonderful (especially the children), and I loved the overall premise. Though it does have a slow start, it is well worth it to stick it out as it ended up being a pretty fun read that put me even more into the holiday spirit.

Sara Davison has been one of my favorite authors for awhile thanks to her amazing storytelling and characters that tug at your heartstrings. The ColorSara Davison has been one of my favorite authors for awhile thanks to her amazing storytelling and characters that tug at your heartstrings. The Color of Sky and Stone is the first novel in her new In the Shadows series, and she knocked it out of the park with this one. It’s clear that she poured her heart and soul into this one.
There can be such power in words, and this doesn’t ring truer than in the story of Tane and Lia, two lonely souls who find solace in one another through missives alone. At first, I felt like this story was going to be like all of the other romantic suspense novels I’ve read recently, but then there was a shift and I lost myself to the narrative. On the surface these two characters don’t seem like they would go together, yet they are more perfect for one another than meets the eye. Both have to hide behind a facade and not show who they truly are, both playing the parts that were given to them, and it takes these roles to meet someone who sees past the act and straight to the heart.
There is some suspense and moments that are electrifying beyond words. The connection between Tane and Lia is so powerful and palpable that you can feel it reverberating off the pages. Beautiful imagery helps paint a vivid picture as we see two souls traverse their lonely existence apart yet together, and the touch of grace and forgiveness is whispered and woven throughout.
Though there is a satisfying ending there are a few loose ends that need to be addressed, and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series to find out what happens. The Color of Sky and Stone is a very powerful story of two lonely hearts that find one another in the most unlikely way and discover what can happen when you truly let go and trust.

The Marine’s Deadly Reunion is Jake Fisher’s mission to find his sisters murderer while also adjusting to life as the guardian of his eighteen-month-old niece, Emma. Daria is his childhood best friend who is now a cop hoping to protect Jake and Emma while also trying to solve the case herself.
There is something endearing about this novel that kept me hooked, and I found myself reading until the wee hours of the morning. I craved to see how everything played out and who was behind all of these malicious attacks. Though I was pretty sure who was the mastermind what I wasn’t prepared for was the twist ending, which was an actual surprise. Even when everything was revealed I still questioned if that was the truth, which goes to show how much it shook me.
Sweet baby Emma is the bright spot in this otherwise darker read, and all of the bonding moments between her, Jake, and Daria were some of my favorites. Though I did enjoy the characters I found myself struggling to bond with the main pair, as I felt like we only got to scratch the surface with both Jake and Daria, and I would’ve liked more character development and time to bond with these two.
Other than that, it was a nice, quick read that kept my rapt attention throughout. The action was almost nonstop, and I was almost constantly trying to guess who was behind it all. Though I didn’t get too vested in the characters I still enjoyed this novel nonetheless and think it’s another great Love Inspired novel.

Home from the Storm is the final novel in the Johns Mill Amish Romance series and sadly the first book of the series that I’ve read, as I much prefer to read a series from beginning to end.
From the beginning, I was hooked into his world. Caleb Hochstedler comes home after a threat is made towards his estranged wife and finds a few surprises that he wasn’t expecting, including twins that he had no idea about. What follows is trying to adjust to a new life than the one he’s been living with a wife who have every right to not trust him and very young children that he is now the father of. This second chance is what Caleb and his wife Rhoda both need, and it is beautiful to witness the growth that these two undertake as they both fight to understand one another and adjust to again doing life together.
This is clearly an emotional conclusion to an incredible series, one that is wonderfully written with true heart, unforgettable characters, and stories that will leave an imprint. Despite this being the first book I’ve read in the series, I did not once feel lost as the author does a masterful job of setting the stage, and just a few chapters in I already felt like I knew this literary world.
Reading Home from the Storm has given me a voracious hunger to read the rest of the series and makes me wonder where I’ve been and why I haven’t read them yet! This is hands down the best novel that I’ve read by Laurel Blount, and I cannot wait to read more!

Growing up in a home filled with music it’s no surprise that I grew up with Tina Turner. With her strong voice and vivacious attitude I always admiredGrowing up in a home filled with music it’s no surprise that I grew up with Tina Turner. With her strong voice and vivacious attitude I always admired her talent, her style, that amazing smile, and those amazing legs! I fell in love with her and her music first but when I saw What’s Love Got To Do With It that admiration went through the roof. What she endured at the hands of Ike was beyond horrifying and I am so thankful that she was able to escape, and just down the street from where I grew up too!
Though I felt like I knew Tina after listening to her music and watching a movie based on her life, it wasn’t until I was able to listen to My Love Story on audiobook that I truly feel that connection on a deep, visceral level. I loved that this was Tina telling her story. There is no better authority of a tale than ones own voice and though I know the narrator’s voice did not sound like Tina’s I still felt like it was her speaking much of the time. The narrator’s inflection and overall vibe while telling Tina’s story was spot on, so I must give a huge shoutout to the narrator.
When I pressed play I pretty much didn’t stop until I had listened to the entire story in one day. I felt a sense of nostalgia when Tina talked about her various collaborations with 80’s rockers as the music landscape during that time was a huge part of my childhood. In many ways I feel like I grew up with Tina Turner and her going back in time also sent me back in time. I am thankful that she didn’t overly embellish when she was talking about her years with Ike, but listening to what she went through was still so incredibly hard to hear. She was such a strong and loving woman and it hurt so much to hear about everything she had to endure.
I wish Tina didn’t have to have such a hard life but I am so grateful that her last years were filled with love and everything her heart desired. I cried when I heard that she had passed away like I had lost a dear friend. She will be forever missed as I don’t think there will ever be another like her. I am thankful that she poured her heart out on these pages and I am glad I finally got a chance to hear it....more

The early church was a tumultuous time for Christ’s followers and And Their Numbers Grew shows us these struggles from four different individuals that witnessed it firsthand.
First off, I really liked how this book was laid out. Though they are four separate stories they also continue as one novel when read back-to-back which I appreciated. Though it is authored by two individuals it doesn’t feel that was as the writing felt seamless, and I like that each book was narrated by an individual that was there but not one of the disciples.
I loved seeing Biblical stories that I’ve heard for years told from a perspective of someone that was there to witness Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection as well as the hardships that befell the followers of the early church. I cannot imagine the persecution that they faced as they went against everything the religious teachers taught during that time. It really was quite radical, and I don’t think we really think about that too often when we’re reading in Acts, and I commend each and every person that stood strong during that time because we wouldn’t be where we are if it weren’t for them.
And Their Numbers Grew is a refreshing and unique take on the New Testament that was so easy to read and connect to, and it’s one that I cannot recommend enough!

It’s a few months after the end of the first novel and there is a new man in town that is opening a trading post, Tanner Mason. The Collins girls are still a hot topic in the Green River Valley, so it’s no surprise that they are some of the first people that Tanner meets. It’s clear from the start that Tanner has eyes for the tenderhearted Lorelei, as her caring spirit shines brightly, and once he agrees to help her with the buffalo calf that she’s found their bond grows with their relationship.
Tanner and Lorelei are as natural together as breathing, as they complement one another in such a beautiful way. Lorelei’s heart for people and animals and Tanner’s calm demeanor and caring spirit pairs well together, and I loved every scene that they had with one another.
Though there is a calming flow to the narrative I didn’t feel like this book was as strong as the first book in the series, though it still holds a lot of charm and character. There is a light touch of mystery that is appreciated and the buffalo calf gives an endearing quality, especially when you see him interact with Lorelei.
Though it can be read as a standalone I do feel like this series benefits from being read in order if possible, as you become more vested in this world and these characters. I love the overall laidback feel of this series and loved getting to witness Lorelei’s love story. If you like historical fictions with a lot of heart, great characters, and breathtaking scenery then Rocky Mountain Promise is for you!

Though A Family for the Orphans starts out on such a bittersweet note it captured my heart and tugged on my heartstrings.
Walker is suddenly a guardian to three little cherubs after his best friends tragically die in a car accident. Another friend, Trisha, is to help co-parent the children, but her job has kept her away from Texas until this summer. Walking by faith and not by sight is easier said than done as we see Walker and Trisha upend their lives to make the dreams of their departed friends come true for their three surviving children by purchasing a horse farm that is barely staying in the red. Now they have to figure out the next step and what is best for the children as they try to keep the farm afloat.
Though it was a sweet read, there wasn’t really anything that made this novel truly special. The kids were super cute and the characters likable, but there wasn’t really anything that sets this novel apart for any other sweet romance. The whole time I was reading I was wishing for something that never came, though there was a tiny little suspenseful part that broke up the story nicely, but I still wished there was more.
For me, what made this novel was the children themselves. Poor Sophia, the oldest of the orphans, is struggling more than the other two and I loved seeing Walker and Trisha comfort her and help all three children cope during such a tough time. A precious touch that I can’t help but admire is how the kids call Walker ‘Walker’ and Trisha ‘Tish.’ Nicknames are huge in my household and overtime I saw the dialogue it brought a smile to my face.
Overall, though nothing too special, this is still a very sweet story that is a quick read and a nice escape.

The Cowgirl’s Last Rodeo is a Love Inspired novel that is laidback as can be, which is a nice distraction from all the holiday hustle and bustle goingThe Cowgirl’s Last Rodeo is a Love Inspired novel that is laidback as can be, which is a nice distraction from all the holiday hustle and bustle going on right now. There is definitely a slower start than what I was hoping for, and it took a bit set the scene and get the foundation of what’s going on.
Blind trust is something we can all identify with, and we see this played out as Callie comes home after being on the rodeo circuit for ten years and claims to have changed. Brody, the man who she left holding a ring, has to trust that she’s telling the truth and won’t hurt him again while also helping her to train her rodeo horse Glow that has recently went blind. Is she going to leave again or stay is the question that hangs in the air the entire time you read as you see Callie reconnect not only with Brody but the whole Jacobs family.
I truly felt all the feels with this novel. Glow going blind and having to navigate an unknown terrain is exactly what I have been dealing with the past few weeks with our family dog. Her sight has left quite suddenly, and it’s made for a difficult time in our home, so my heart instantly went out to both Glow and Callie. It’s tough not only witnessing your animal lose their sight but the dependence they now have on you when they’re used to being their own being hits you right in the gut, so this fact alone tethered me to this story on a deeper level.
Seeing this story come to its fruition is satisfying, though it does feel a tad hasty. I wish there could’ve been more storyline involving Brody and Callie in the past, but this story is all set in the present. I love the overall laidback vibe of horse-training and the ranch life. The Jacobs family is so sweet, and I loved Callie and Brodie together. There were moments that tugged on my heartstrings, and I felt the love emanating from the pages. Brody and Callie are both likable characters and the situation they find themselves in is very true to life, which I appreciated. I read this pretty much in one sitting and enjoyed every moment.

It was almost like listening to a story told by an old friend. May and Lee are both such sweet souls, and I love that they had one another during both good times and bad. That unwavering support of such a strong friendship is goals. The author did an excellent job of filling in the gaps from the first two books, the details from previous novels were added in so seamlessly that it made reading this as a standalone perfection.
Racism runs rampant in this novel, and it truly made my blood boil to read it. How people can see themselves better than others is just beyond me. I am white but I was raised to believe that we are all God’s children, and that race and culture is something to be admired and respected. For a long time I thought that was how everyone believed, so when I experienced racism for the first time at a young age it was a complete shock to me. I am in a biracial marriage and even in 2023 I am shunned for it, not only by perfect strangers but even members of my husband’s family! It angers me and breaks my heart but all I can do is pray for those people and live what I believe: that we are all equal. When I read about what Lee and May would face it hit very close to home, but the redemption made by some gives me hope and reminds me that God is bigger than racism and that He can soften anyones hearts. True redemption is so magnificently beautiful!
One of my favorite parts of this novel were the parts about the Japanese culture. I always love learning new things about other cultures and seeing the world through different lenses, so I soaked up all of the cultural tidbits that are sprinkled throughout the narrative with earnest. I found myself looking up different words as a I read and even got into a discussion with a friend of mine who has studied the Japanese culture extensively. So fascinating!
May’s strength in her faith was also so inspiring. Turning to the Lord in all things in prayer is something I’ve always struggled with, but to May it’s as natural as breathing. Oh, to have that kind of relationship with my Lord! It is clear that she lives what she believes and it was a sound reminder to myself to do the same.
Knowing You is hands down one of my favorite novels of the year! Add in a mystery, theft, and love on top of the cultural and historical aspects, plus strong writing and endearing characters, and you’ve got one novel that truly has it all!

Melissa McClone is a master when it comes to creating a world and characters that you instantly fall in love with and that’s exactly what you get withMelissa McClone is a master when it comes to creating a world and characters that you instantly fall in love with and that’s exactly what you get with The Wedding Planner’s Secret, the first novel in the Wedding Bliss series. From the beginning I got serious The Wedding Planner vibes (hello Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez!) and whether that was intentional or not I was living for it!
Kelsey is the “Wedding Planner to the Stars” and is a woman that is closer to a realist than a romantic. When she is propositioned to plan the fifth wedding for a runaway bride that she’s refused to work with she is steadfast that this is the last and final time. If it weren’t for the charming man doing the asking, and his family, Kelsey wouldn’t say yes, but she does, and the whirlwind wedding planning commences. She has only weeks to pull off the impossible but lucky for her Will, the brides brother, is there to help lend a hand, and what happens goes beyond a normal wedding planning job and enters fate territory.
I felt absolutely enchanted as I read this novel. It is obvious there is something magical happening between Kelsey and Will and I adored every sweet moment, and every swoon-worthy kiss. What starts out as planning an impossible wedding ends up being a journey of two people who find dreams that they didn’t know existed within themselves, and it was such an enjoyable journey to watch. Honestly, I could easily see this as a Hallmark movie and it would be one I would definitely watch. I devoured this novel and honestly cannot wait for the next book to release. Melissa did a great job as it is another strong start to what looks to be a super cute series.
