There is a strange vibe and a somber mood from the very beginning that shadows the narrative in its weight, yet as you delve deeper into the story you begin to feel a sense of hope, like a sunrise slowly peeking over the horizon, shining light on the darkness. Then you are hit with a mystery that transports you back in time to another dark era and a whole other cast of characters that are dealing with their own issues. There is a lot going on, with Solveig, in present time, trying to clear out her grandfathers house and get it ready to sell, paired with a mystery that takes the reader to 1919, where Gussie is awaiting the arrival of her sweetheart after the war has ended. The overall mystery of why these two seemingly differing stories connect, as well as other subplots, is what made this novel incredibly hard to put down and is a breathtaking feat that shows the talent of the author masterfully.
The relationship between Kyle and Solveig is poetic at its core. How they are able to see one another, and to be their authentic selves without judgement, is something I always love seeing in stories like this. The spark between them is intriguing and watching their relationship evolve is so beautiful. The same goes for the past timeline with lifelong friends Gussie and Harvey. Though they are just friends it’s obvious that the feelings go deeper, even if those feelings aren’t necessarily known, and seeing their interactions were some of my favorite scenes in the book as Henry is truly the knight in shining armor just being himself.
In the beginning the dual timelines threw me a bit, but once I began to realize the connections between present and past it all became clear, and my excitement for the story grew exponentially. The guilt of past choices that were life altering is something all of the main characters carry in their own unique ways, so the burden of unforgiveness of self is prevalent in this novel. The overall story lines for both timelines are alluring in their own right, as is the writing and overall mood. This is the first novel I’ve read by this author and I am blown away with how much depth there is to the characters and plot.
I fell in love with Like Honey for the Bones and though it wasn’t a quick read for me it was one that I could pick up time and again and instantly be back in this moody world where mysteries are slowly revealed and forgiveness and true love is found in friendship and support during dark times.

I have really enjoyed the Home to Harmony series thus far, and Hannah has been a favorite character of mine, so I was really looking forward to readinI have really enjoyed the Home to Harmony series thus far, and Hannah has been a favorite character of mine, so I was really looking forward to reading her story. Hannah has been keeping a secret from everyone, including her closest friends: her estranged husband Daniel has no idea that he has a daughter with her. We see the effects of Hannah’s secret coming out when Daniel comes back into town to file for divorce and quickly finds out the truth.
I felt quite a bit of annoyance with both of the main characters throughout the novel. The fact that Daniel has to be all secretive because of his “star status” is super annoying and it’s so bad that it even starts to annoy Daniel himself! Once his paranoia switches from being self-centered to protecting his family my opinion changed, but this is when Hannah started to annoy me by being blind to this fact. Daniel is overall a good guy and it’s obvious he wants to do right by her and their daughter, but Hannah is focused on everything else and not what Daniel is having to deal with.
Let me just say, I can’t imagine how infuriating it must be to have to fight to keep your privacy as a celebrity. I know there’s glitz and glamour mentality that goes along with being famous, but to not be able to just live your life without a camera being shoved in your face 24/7 has to be hard, so I ended up giving both Daniel and Hannah a pass. They are in a tough situation and once I pondered this fact it’s clear they were both trying to protect Olivia, just in their own ways.
Though they had their annoying moments overall Daniel and Hannah are pretty likable. I love that both partners acknowledge early on that they’ve both made mistakes and choose to self-reflect and look towards the future instead of playing the blame game, which is something many adults can’t do. I also adored sweet little Olivia but I felt like there were moments where her dialogue did not fit her age. What five-year-old uses the word “luminous” to describe a Christmas tree?? I know this little girl is shown to be a bit more mature for her age but let’s be real. When I read this part it took some of the literary magic out of Olivia’s character and I hate that.
Overall, Her Homegrown Christmas Wish was a decent read. Though I did struggle to connect with the characters they both did show growth and put their family first, which is something I will always admire. This was not one of my favorites of the series, which shocked me since Hannah has been a favorite character of mine since the first novel, but maybe I had hyped it up too much in my own mind. This novel is part of a series but it can easily be read as a standalone, though I will say that reading the rest of the series first does give the characters even more depth.

Franklin and Hannah have a second chance of sorts as they reconnect after a magical day ten years ago that was left their relationship unfinished, but they have another chance when Hannah, now a sports reporter, interviews Franklin when he joins a new hockey team. Their second first meeting is a disaster, but it brings them back in each others lives, and the second chance begins.
Franklin is not only having a fresh start in his career but he is also recently had a revival of his faith, which is always something I love to see. Franklin’s character was one that really spoke to me, and seeing him and the interactions with his super supportive and amazing family was some of my favorite parts of the novel.
My heart really went out to poor Hannah and the horrifying prejudice and abuse that she endured as she fights to further her career in the sports journalism world. The treatment she gets from her coworkers was infuriating to read, but Hannah handled it all so well. I also loved seeing her transformation as God uses those in her life to help breathe life back into her faith. I related a lot to Hannah and her struggles and seeing how she was able to overcome was truly inspiring.
This novel was a breeze to read and really does have all that you could want in a Christian Romance, though I do wish there was a touch more spice. The characters are relatable, and genuine, and it was a joy to experience a part of their stories. I can’t wait to read the second book in the series!

This is a very straightforward resource that helps you put your focus where it needs to be, helping you to improve your time management skills if you implement what it teaches.
Though the reading is dry I still found this resource to be invaluable and can see referencing it again and again. The discussion questions and quizzes at the end of each chapter are great at bringing the points brought forth in that chapter home, and are quite thought-provoking.
I did learn that eliminating distractions is a huge part of time management. It’s unreal how many time suckers there are in all of our lives and by putting these wasters into their own designated time frame and not allowing them to overtake other important tasks is a game changer. Though it is something that I knew before reading this text it was still a wonderful reminder, and has again helped me put my focus where it needs to be. Addressing these problems is really what’s been helping me and I feel like just this alone has helped with my time management skills.
Though it will take time to document what you need to get your time under control once you begin to get focused you will be amazed at how much more you will be able to accomplish. I am so thankful I had the opportunity to read this text.

Yet, those dark times can open doors to possibilities that were once unfathomable. That’s where we find the incredibly talented pastry chef, Robin Fox. After a nasty exit from her dream job Robin is temporarily back home in Deep Haven, filling in at her grandparents bakery while they are on a retreat in Florida. Robin refuses to let this detour hinder her from her dreams, staying laser-focused on her future goals, and not seeing the potential that is right in front of her.
Sammy Johnson is frozen after a horrific car accident stole his life. All of Sammy’s dreams have been put on hold because his fear overshadows every aspect of his life. He is just going through the motions of his daily life until Robin, his old classmate, comes back to town, and reawakens something deep inside him.
Both Sammy and Robin are so incredibly relatable. Who among us hasn’t lost a dream that was right within our grasps or let our fears stop us from living? The characters and this world are so well written that you feel like Deep Haven is a real place where these complex individuals exist. Seeing the struggles, the wrestling with faith, as well as the bonds of friendship was truly a joy to read. It really made me think about my own pursuits and choices that I’ve made in my life, which added even more of a bond between me and the characters.
This novel has such a wonderful flow that helped me lose myself in this world. The romance was sweet but what really struck me the most was the overall message of friendship and faith. It is a great reminder of what magic can happen with you put others needs above your own, and inspired me to make some changes in my own life. What could happen when I put my focus on others, and not focus so much on myself?
I love Deep Haven so much and I am so glad that we’re back! This sweet small town always captures my heart and imagination and I can’t wait to see what new adventures await in this new series.

The combination of past and present, genealogy and the present co-mingling seamlessly is something I will always appreciate, as these subjects are near and dear to my heart.
In this final installment we see Jillian’s genealogy take center stage as she pieces together the Parisi family, her maternal side of the family, and with it some angst from her newly found cousin, Cate. Cate and her attitude annoyed me so much!! I know she’s frustrated with her situation, but her attitude didn’t do anyone any favors, and I hated seeing her treat Jillian the way she did. Cate grated my nerves to the point that I almost wanted to stop reading a few times, but I had to press on to see the Parisi branch of the tree to fruition, and I’m glad I did.
The characters are really what made this novel sparkle, especially Drew and Jillian who are so stinking cute together! I loved every scene with the two of them, but what really added flavor is the sassy Min, who is always a scene stealer with her wit and humor. Add in Nolan, Jillian’s father, who has been a favorite of mine throughout the series, and you’ve got a cast of characters that will always hold a special place in my heart.
When I finished this novel I felt wistful as I sat the book down. The ending is satisfying and everything I had wanted, but I wasn’t ready for this series to end, so it was bittersweet in its finality. I have enjoyed this series so much and can only hope that Olivia Newport will have a series that parallels it in the future. Until then, I will cherish the time I spent in this world....more

It was fun to go back and see how it all began and refresh myself a bit with Connor’s Grove and its inhabitants before delving into this new series, Connor Brothers Next Generation.
I love how the novel is set in two parts, with the first part getting the reader caught up on what’s been going on and Lilly and Noah’s relationship and where their falling out occurred. This part hit hard, as it’s something I think we can all sympathize with, and it shows just how heartbroken Lilly is. It’s one thing that their romantic relationship is over, but when Noah and Lilly part ways she also looses her best friend. So heartbreaking!!
The second part is set in present day, and sees Noah and Lilly both focused on their careers when a chance meeting puts them back in one another’s lives. It’s clear the bond they’ve always shared is still there, but fear of the past keeps them at arm’s length. They have the will they won’t they as they rekindle their friendship and it’s truly charming.
There really isn’t anything that I didn’t love about this book. It has a nice flow, good writing, characters that you can relate to and root for, and that overall good vibes feel that is signature Connor Brothers. It felt so good to see some old, familiar faces, and since I re-read the story of how Lilly’s parents got together beforehand it made this reading experience all the sweeter.
I am so excited to see where this new series takes us and highly recommend that you go back and read the original Connor Brothers series, as it really gives this novel so much more depth. Now I impatiently await the next book in the series.

I finally felt like the tI’ve had The Tattooist of Auschwitz on my TBR list for awhile, knowing I needed to be in the right frame of mind to read it. I finally felt like the time was right and I was right in my assumptions. This was a tough read.
I felt such a tremendous ache when I read this story. I’ve read my fair share of WWII historical fiction, but this story being rooted in truth made it all the more heartbreaking. No matter what I read and learn about WWII I will never be able to wrap my head around the absolute evil that prevailed during this time in our tainted history, especially the horrors that happened amid the barbed wire in the concentration camps. How one person can harbor so much hatred for a fellow human being is incomprehensible to me, but to then to pass that hatred onto others who blindly follow this parasite of a person makes the entire situation all the more unbelievable. What saddens me the most is the fact that these misguided feelings and sentiments still rage on in our world today. When will we as a society learn? How many more stories need to be told before we stand and do something to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again?
The fact that this is a debut novel for author Heather Morris is astounding as the narrative sounds like it’s been written by a seasoned veteran, and not someone just starting out on their literary journey! The writing is captivating in its depth, putting you in Auschwitz with Lale, Gita, and all of the other prisoners, which is made all the more terrifying when you realize this account is based on a true story. Lale and Gita existed, and had to endure the horrors they did in Auschwitz together, yet their story is also a ray of hope amid such death and depravity, proving that true love can endure even in the worst conditions humanly possible. Talk about giving hope!
As soon as I read their ending I smiled, but then had to sit the book down, and really put the whole story into perspective. Can you imagine the bond that they must’ve felt after the war ended? To endure everything they did and to make it out alive must’ve made every other fight and life event so trivial. I bet they cherished every moment they had together. I know I would have.
I was so engrossed in The Tattooist of Auschwitz that I finished it within hours of picking it up, and immediately started reading the second book, Cilka’s Journey, despite the fact that it was very, very early in the morning. I plan on reading the trilogy back to back to get the full picture from different perspectives. May we never forget what these brave individuals fought for, and may we never see these things come to pass again. Thank you Heather for telling Lale and Gita’s harrowing story....more

At the beginning of the story, Skye’s attitude was so off-putting to me that I debated on continuing to read the novel! She is rude, snarky, and self-centered to poor Benjamin, but when he sees past all of these attributes and gives her a chance I figured I should too. I’m so glad I did.
Skye is “flirting with life” and not wanting to settle down, and even though her and Benjamin are complete opposites they also compliment one another perfectly. Their chemistry is palpable, and seeing them together just made me happy. I loved seeing redemption for Skye and getting to know some of her motivations for being the way she is, as well as the strength that Benjamin shows Skye, not willing to back down to her self-preserving tactics.
This is a Christian Fiction, so faith place a big part of the novel, the plot is very true to life, and there is a lot more depth to the story than what you’d think based on first glance. This is the first novel I’ve read in the Roadtrip Romance series, and now I’m curious about the rest of the series! I also have to say that Amy Anguish has found herself a new fan! :)

Cora is back home with her great-aunt after enduring a debilitating accident that has caused some unforeseen and undiagnosed medical issues. Silas is also back home with his family because he is needed due to personal reasons, though it’s obvious his passions lie elsewhere. There is a mystery behind an old desk that flows along with trying to find out what is going on with Cora, which keeps things interesting and gives a nice parallel.
For some reason, this novel did not impact me as much as the first book in the series did. I didn’t feel as connected to Cora and Silas than I did Adeligh and David in the first novel, but I do love that we still get to see both David and Adeligh in this novel as well. I did feel like some of the dialogue felt a bit stunted at times, and there were a few continuity issues but overall it was well written and developed as far as creating an immersive world. I didn’t feel that “can’t put it down” feeling like I did in the first novel, but it was still an entertaining read overall.
I loved the added mystery, the the archaeological aspect, and the fact that a character suffers from the same debilitating condition that I suffer from. I have dealt with severe migraines for years, to the point that I am disabled due to them, and ironically I had one of the worst migraines of my life hit me while I was reading this novel. Seeing a character mirror some of the same symptoms of my own did endear me to Cora the most. My favorite scene in the book was the conclusion of the mystery from the old desk. I got some serious Nancy Drew vibes and I am so here for it!
All in all I adore this series, and I loved being back in Crow’s Nest . I am so excited that there are already two more installments in the works, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here!

What he ends up giving her is much more than any tangible treasure, as they both find what each is looking for in one another. Maybe the new beginning they’re both craving is right in front of them.
My heart instantly went out to Dallas, Gabe, and Cindi and all they had lost before the story truly begins. I cannot even begin to imagine the overwhelming loss that all of the main characters feel, but seeing them all strengthen one another is truly inspiring. Though a short read, the author does an incredible job of helping you connect with these characters, even if you’re not in their world for very long. It is very Hallmark-esque, with a cookie cutter feel, is unbelievably predictable, yet it’s quite enjoyable at the same time. I caught myself smiling more than once at Cindi’s childlike faith and the wit that comes from Dallas’s matchmaking aunt, and was sad to see it end.
I loved being apart of this world that oozes heart and charm, and is very character driven. I do wish there could’ve been a little less predictability, and maybe the narrative could’ve been aa tad longer, but other than that it was a joy to read.

Grant is home temporarily on his way to conquer his medical dreams in California. Maggie can relate, as her stop in Three Springs with her sister Kelsey is also temporary as she continues on the rodeo circuit. Both Grant and Maggie feel like their happiness lies at the completion of their professional goals, but what they both really crave goes much deeper than that as the story unfolds.
Filled with the always close-knit Sloan family and the small town Texas community of Three Springs, this novel was a quaint read. There are alluring moments, like a quirky photo shoot and medical trivia, while also moments that will make your heart swoon. The entire story is very true to life and the ending (before the epilogue) gave me literal chills in its execution, despite me knowing what was coming. It was sheer perfection and one of the best endings that I’ve read in awhile.
There were some slower moments in the middle of the story, but that’s when Nolan and Kelsey’s relationship starts to take off, and I was here for it! They are so stinking cute together that I wish they could’ve had their own story!

Poor HaleBlue Ridge Mountain Escape is a heart pounding, edge of your seat read that starts out with suspense and doesn’t let up until the final page.
Poor Haley Gordon is at the wrong place at the wrong time when she decides to go alone on a camping trip, despite her having reservations of being in the wilderness alone. Haley is a woman with a strong faith, and she knows she’s never really truly alone, but she ends up with a vacation unlike anything she could’ve imagined, complete with escaped convicts, a fearless fireman, and a relentless wildfire.
As with most suspense novels, there is an almost constant ebb and flow of tension coming from several factors throughout the novel, which balances perfectly with the picturesque scenery and the characters internal thoughts. The details about the area that they’re in, as well as wildlife that they encounter are very educational, but my favorite part was learning about the firestorms, and just exactly what first responders have to contend with in these types of situations, thanks to fireman Kendal’s vast wisdom. I cannot even begin to imagine the bravery that each and every individual must possess to risk their lives on a daily basis as they fight these blazes, and I will never not be thankful for their sacrifices.
Though the novel is teeming with suspense I struggled to connect with the characters, especially Haley. I felt like there could’ve been more depth and development to the characters, and the whole romantic arc with Haley and Kendal was just too perfect, especially the ending. I was really craving a little more grit, but then again this is a Harlequin novel, so it comes as no surprise that everything magically falls into place, and everyone lives happily ever after.
Despite a few misgivings I overall enjoyed Blue Ridge Mountain Escape. The faith aspect was vocalized as well as acted upon, and was a major part of this narrative, which is always inspiring, and it was a quick read with a good flow, and lots of action and suspense. One of my favorite parts of the story was a redemption arc from one of the supporting characters. Seeing someone change for the better is always great, and always puts a smile on my face. A great summer read!

First, let’s talk about the cover.
I am head over heels in LOVE with this cover!! Two of my signature colors are highlighted and every time I look at this cover I smile. It truly makes me happy to look at, so kudos to whomever designed this simple yet stylish cover. It mirrors this charming story perfectly and deserves a shout out.
Now, about the story itself.
Joe and Kylie have more than one connection with one another, though they do not know this fact right away. Not only are they both successful writers in their respective genres, but they also have connected online, and has struck up a friendship that is reminiscent of You’ve Got Mail (one of my all-time favorite RomCom’s). When the online pair finally decide to meet it’s clear that the relaxed relationship that they’ve had online is not the relationship they share in their professional lives, which makes their upcoming collaboration all the more messy.
I love the enemies-to-lovers troupe but in Dedicated to the One I Love you also get a friends-to-lovers troupe as well, which feels like a cute little bonus. Joe and Kylie are both so much alike, with both being insanely stubborn and both are so passionate about the genres that they write in, that it’s clear that they’ve met their match. Joe’s stubbornness was especially grating, especially when he continuously refuses to see the blessings that are right in front of him, even when Kylie is just trying to do what needs to be done. It takes a lot of patience, and some pretty crazy mishaps to occur before Joe opens his eyes to this amazing and unique situation, and the blessing that is right in front of him.
Kylie had my heart, especially as she adjusts to widowhood on top of dealing with hard-headed Joe, but my favorite part of this novel was actually the supporting cast which is serious #friendgoals. They don’t overshadow the leads, but complement them both to perfection, and man do I want a friend group like what Kylie has! There were some frustrating moments, some swoon moments, and some heart melting moments, and I was here for it all! I wish so much that this could’ve been part of a series because I could see so many more stories that could blossom from this novel, and I hated to see this story end.
To say I am in love with this novel is an understatement, as this was hands down my favorite read so far this summer. I did not put it down and read it in one sitting, staying up into the wee summer hours, and losing sleep, but it was worth it! The cover gives you the vibe and the story brings it all home. It’s truly the perfect RomCom package, and a must read for sure.

The story begins with an unforeseeable tragedy that is every person’s worst nightmare. A freak accident that leaves a church family rocked to its core and one girl’s life turned completely upside down. The unimaginable pain that Holly endures is the stuff of nightmares, but as God proves time and time again, He can use all things for His good, and though Holly’s journey looks to be ending, it is really just beginning.
This is a story of redemption and finding your way through faith and those you surround yourself with. The supporting characters are top notch, helping Holly navigate the murky waters of her future with faith and grace. There are a lot of subjects that are tackled that can bring up a plethora of emotions for the reader, but the author does a masterful job of handling them with such heart, which evoked my own deep, personal emotions and bonded me to this story even more.
This is a Contemporary Christian Fiction and faith is at the forefront, as it should be, but it’s not pushed on the reader but fleshed out in the most beautiful way, as grace should do. The writing is captivating and though there are some tough subject matters that are touched on it never felt heavy or burdensome. There are also some lighthearted moments that made me smile, giving the story a great balance. I can see this touching the youth and adult readers alike with its powerfulness and recommend this for anyone who loves a story that is full of heart and grace.

This novel is oozing charm and imagination and has been so fun to read! I love a good mystery, and when you add steampunk it takes things to a whole other level.
At the beginning of the novel we find Lady Georgia Burnel emerging from her year of mourning, after the death of her abusive husband, and she is ready for rest and relaxation. With her Aunt Millie, Georgia embarks on an Italian getaway that ends up being anything but relaxing. There are a lot of names thrown at you at the beginning of the story, making the start a bit mirky, but the narrative flows so naturally that it’s not long before you’re completely immersed in this world, seeing it all through the eyes of these multifaceted characters.
The overall pace is brisk, but has a certain lightness to it, though there is a darkness that lingers just below the surface. All of the characters are great, but Cora and Marcus, the two adolescents who aid in the sleuthing, bring a sweetness that won me over. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Mr. Seacombe when he was first introduced, but as the story went on, and he continued to offer his quiet strength to Georgia and Millie, I found myself enjoying his Texican charm. Georgia and Millie were marvelous, and are the perfect pair that compliment one another nicely.
I’m not normally one for stories of fantasy, but there is something about steampunk that vibes with me. I love the uniqueness this genre brings, especially in details of the town, and the kraken. There is so much imagination that really brings a unique facet to an otherwise ordinary mystery.
This novel kicks off the new Lady Georgia Burnel Mysteries series and I am so excited to see what adventures Georgia will embark on next! The tinge of romance, the support of friendship, and the thirst to find the truth makes for quite an enjoyable read.

When the Collins sisters lose their father and are now parentless they know that his dying wish must be the first thing they do before they can go on When the Collins sisters lose their father and are now parentless they know that his dying wish must be the first thing they do before they can go on with their lives. What none of them would’ve guessed was the incredible journey to the Wyoming wilds would be truly life changing, and open their eyes to a whole new way of living.
Twenty years ago, their father’s life was saved by a Peigan Blackfoot woman named Steps Right and he had sent a gift that he wanted to make sure she received. The sisters do not understand the importance of why their father wants them to find her, and hope that finding the Peigan woman will help them understand the full picture. It is this mystery of finding Steps Right and finding out her story that kept me reading, as there are so many things that it could be and this woman is the only one that has answers.
The Wyoming wilds in mid-1800’s was a scary place in and of itself, but four women traveling alone was no ideal during this time period in general, which is why when they meet a mountain man named Riley Turner, he is truly a blessing in more ways than one. Riley’s character is perfection in my eyes, as he immediately feels a protectiveness over the sisters, and a connection to one sister in particular. He’s a strong presence and has such patience and skill that it was wonderful to watch him traverse the wilds, and help the Collins sisters speak to the various tribes in the region as they search for Steps Right.
I loved all of the characters and their interactions with one another, especially the bond between the sisters, as well as the tribe members. Native Americans hold a special place in my heart, as that is part of my own heritage, and I liked seeing them depicted in a positive light.
This was a wonderful escape and a beautiful story that I enjoyed immensely.

Right off the baIt’s a trip that Liz never wanted to take but her holiday Caribbean cruise ended up being everything she didn’t even know she needed.
Right off the bat I felt bad for Liz. What teenager wants to spend their holiday break with their dad on a cruise ship and his 30th class reunion for a week? To make matters worse, Liz’s relationship with her dad has been fractured since he walked out on her and her mother, and her parents divorced several years prior.
I love a good YA and I really enjoyed Charting the Course. It is all told from Liz’s perspective, which is a refreshing point of view, and really resonated with me, as I went through an eerily similar situation when I was in high school with my own family. The unforgiveness of past hurts is real, and I feel like it goes even deeper when this huge life event happens early in adolescence, and feel like the author handled this masterfully. Seeing the nudges of faith is beautiful and my favorite part of the novel was actually when Liz seems to hit rock bottom, because the only way to go is up, and the only way to move forward is to let go. It was a good reminder for me, and I know this will touch younger audiences as well.
Seeing Liz’s growth during such a short amount of time is refreshing, and I loved all of the supporting characters and the unique setting. I’ve never been on a cruise ship myself but it sounds very fun! This novel is part of the Finding Faith series, though it is easily read as a standalone, but it was such a good read that I now want to check out the rest of the series. It is a week of unimagined adventures and a personal journey for Liz as she gains a healthy, new perspective and I am so grateful that I got to witness her adventure.

Her Only Wish is the second novel in the A Season in Pinecraft series and it is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. The characters are so bright and magnetic, the setting is dreamy, and the overall vibe is easy to get lost in.
Sweet Betsy is the focus of this story, which I was excited about as she was one of my favorite characters from the first novel. Betsy has a life list and she is bound and determined to achieve as many goals as she can and not let her disability hinder her. With the help of some new friends as well as her own determination, she embarks on a journey that leads to a life she could’ve never imagined.
I love how Betsy’s life list not only inspired change in her own life, but also affected everyone that she surrounds herself with too. Seeing the ripple effect of positivity and seeing this from a different perspective is something to be admired, and something we need in our world right now. Watching all of the relationships grow and blossom is great, but the parts with Danielle, Annie, and Betsy were some of my favorites, most likely due to the sister dynamic and my love of swimming. I also loved all the golf talk, since that is something my husband and I are into. The selfishness of Austin’s missionary parents is astounding. Neither can see themselves and accuse poor Austin of the very thing they are doing. This part tore at my heart so much, as Austin is such an amazing guy and doesn’t deserve to get treated like this by his parents.
I felt like I was curled up in a sun-warmed blanket when I read this novel. There is tension, but really only coming from Austin’s nearsighted parents. Otherwise it was a very uplifting and positive reading experience that has me thinking of my own “life list.” I love this series so much!
