"I see your fear. I see your anger. I see how you want to run but don't. I see you love but wish you didn't. I see how deeply you feel, Jacob, all the while begging you were heartless."
I just love that Pepper takes the time to tell a story regardless of how long it will be. I am usually not that big of a fan of long books, but if the plot and characters are intriguing enough I will wish it didn't end at all. Pepper Winters is an author who really knows how to engage and entices a reader to keep on reading. I especially am a big fan of characters who knew each other from childhood to grow up and fall in love. Just like with his parents, Ren and Della, Jacob's life isn't easy as well. He grew up in a loving environment with the best people around him, but he learned about heartbreak pretty early on. This has impacted him so much that he doesn't let anyone come close to him.
"A single night is nothing. You're worth a millennium of nights."
However, there is this stubborn and headstrong girl, Hope, who will do anything to break down his walls. She really has the patience of a saint, because Jacob definitely wasn't the easiest person to deal with. But there is just something she sees in him, and she will not give up until he sees it as well. Honestly, my heart broke when I saw how Jacob treated the people closest to him. I got mad at him many times, and I just wanted him to snap out of it. But I realized further down the story that he really couldn't help himself. I was just glad that Hope didn't give up on him and stood by him during his most difficult times, even though he didn't want her around.
"Her vulnerability almost ruined me. Her love so pure. Her care so bright. It closed a coffin around my already dead soul and threw away the key."
I loved being reunited with characters from the Ribbon Duet, even though it was very bittersweet at times. This book had me on the edge of my seat at times. The heartbreak resulted in me crying my eyes out. I was on an emotional roller coaster, and I didn't know how it would end. It was a wild ride. I cried, laughed, swooned, smiled, got angry and sad while reading this book. I was happy that the author told Hope and Jacob's story regardless how heartbreaking it was sometimes. I absolutely Pepper's writing style and amazing story-telling abilities. It really grabbed and didn't let go of me until the end.

Vow of Silence is a suspenseful second-chance romance. This book is about Homicide Detective Josiah (Joe) and his first and only love Hannah. Joe has Amish roots but left the community eight years ago, which also resulted in breaking Hannah's heart. He is now back because there is a serial killer hunting and murdering young Amish girls, and Joe is put on the case because he is familiar with the community. I think the author did a great job in making me understand and feel the love between the two main characters. The short flashbacks were a great addition to the story, and helped me in understanding the dynamic of their relationship. I also loved that the POV of the serial killer was included, it increased the suspense, and helped me in my quest in figuring out who he was. Which wasn't easy by the way, and I changed my mind a couple of times. There were many suspicious people in this book.
Overall I think Vow of Silence was a great romantic suspense/second-chance romance. It was easy to read and unpredictable, and the characters were very likable. The story had a great flow, and towards the end it really hooked me, and I couldn't put it down. I loved seeing Joe and Hannah grow closer again, and there was a very strong attraction between them. The sex scenes were hot and I enjoyed seeing Hannah explore her newly found sexuality. Joe made her feel safe enough to try new things and be free. I really wish this book was part of a series, because I don't want to say goodbye to these characters.

Beautiful Broken Love by Shanora Williams is a heartfelt, emotional story about love, loss, and healing. Davina Klein-Roberts is still reeling from the devastating loss of her husband, Lew, but she's focused on growing her skincare brand to escape her grief. Enter Deke Bishop, a charismatic NBA star with his own pain to carry. Their chemistry is electric right from the start, with great banter and a connection that feels natural.
Both Davina and Deke are strong, successful characters, which made them a great match. It was especially touching to see how they supported each other through their struggles. Watching them slowly overcome their personal issues and find hope again was one of the highlights of the book. Their journey felt real, and by the end, I didn’t want the story to be over.
Overall, this is an emotional, beautifully written romance about second chances, and it definitely pulled at my heartstrings....more

From Air by Jewel E. Ann is a solid romance set in the exciting world of Montana firefighters. Jamie, a psychiatric nurse, moves in with a group of smokejumpers and quickly gets pulled into a flirty, tension-filled dynamic with Calvin, a grumpy firefighter who's hard to figure out. Their banter is one of the highlights of the book—fun, sharp, and keeps the story moving.
The supporting characters bring some nice humor and depth, and the writing flows easily with good pacing. But the second half of the book threw me off with a major plot twist that felt a little too coincidental. It kind of took away from the strong start and the chemistry between Jamie and Calvin.
Overall, it's a fun read with great characters, but the twist in the second half didn’t totally work for me....more

White Night, the third book in Capes' Sennenwolf Series, continues to wow with its mix of fantasy, adventure, and great characters. As a fan of Capes' work, this book really hit the mark.
The story follows Samson 714 Afador as he tries to reclaim Velm after his plans fall apart. With Helisent and a red witch by his side, Samson’s journey is packed with twists that keep you hooked. The plot is fresh, intricate and exciting, blending myth and magic in a way that feels both new and timeless.
The character development is great, especially with Samson and Helisent. Their emotional and psychological growth adds a lot of depth, and I find myself falling more and more in love with both characters. While the unconventional names can be a bit tricky to remember, the recap at the start of the book helps a lot.
Even though White Night is a long read, Capes does a fantastic job keeping the pace just right, so it never feels boring. Each chapter brings something new, keeping the excitement high.
Overall, White Night is a great addition to the series. Capes' writing and storytelling shine through, making it a must-read for both fans and new readers. I can't wait to see where the story goes next in the Sennenwolf saga....more

Between Now and Forever by Adriana Locke is a sweet and lighthearted neighbors-to-lovers romance with plenty of fun and swoon-worthy moments. The way Gabrielle and Jay meet—her tumbling off a porch in nothing but a towel—is hilarious and sets the tone for their quirky, charming relationship.
Gabrielle, a single mom of two, is fierce and lovable, while Jay, the grumpy-but-goodhearted neighbor, has an irresistible mix of gruffness and vulnerability. I enjoyed watching them navigate the ups and downs of their growing connection. Jay’s internal struggle with his past adds some emotional depth, though the story mostly stays light and breezy.
While the romance was fun and entertaining, I found myself wanting something more to really make it stand out. It’s a solid, feel-good read, but I was missing that extra spark or emotional depth to take it to the next level.

Karina Halle's An Ocean of Sin and Starlight is a dark-fantasy romance that plunges readers into a world of morally grey pirates and monstrous sirens. A standalone spinoff of A Ship of Bones and Teeth, the novel seamlessly blends romance, horror, and adventure.
The story follows the Priest, a vampire struggling with his cursed existence and his efforts to maintain his faith. Halle expertly portrays his inner turmoil, making him a deeply compelling character. His journey from a man of God to a creature battling his monstrous impulses is gripping from the start.
“Back then… I hated myself. I didn’t deserve to feel better. But when I’m with you, even now, I can breathe. I don’t know what it is, but something about you has always softened the agony, making it so I don’t feel like I’m suffocating.”
The introduction of Larimar, a captivating siren, adds intensity to the narrative. Their dynamic is electric, marked by mutual bloodlust and ruthless desires. The Priest's possessive attachment to Larimar and his struggle with his sinful nature adds significant depth to his character. Larimar’s blend of confidence and vulnerability makes her a well-rounded and relatable character.
The novel excels with its unpredictability, gruesome and spicy scenes, and surprising twists. The pacing is perfect, allowing the slow build of the relationship between the Priest and Larimar to develop naturally. The character development is believable and adds authenticity to their arcs.
Overall, An Ocean of Sin and Starlight is a compelling, dark-fantasy romance that will captivate readers from start to finish. Karina Halle has crafted a richly textured tale exploring faith, sin, and love in a world teeming with danger and desire....more

Cora Reilly's By Frenzy I Ruin returns readers to the Mafia world of Las Vegas, where Aurora Scuderi and Nevio Falcone's tumultuous romance unfolds. However, this installment falls short of expectations compared to previous gripping tales.
The story revolves around Aurora, devastated by Nevio's careless actions, yet unable to escape his relentless pursuit. Their relationship lacks genuine chemistry, with Nevio's character feeling immature and irresponsible, while Aurora could have been more assertive. Despite these flaws, Reilly's descriptive prose keeps the narrative engaging, supplemented by intriguing side characters like Massimo and Carlotta.
Overall, By Frenzy I Ruin may disappoint fans expecting the magic of earlier books. While it offers moments of intrigue, the central romance's shortcomings may leave readers wanting more. Jay McLean's Chasing Harlow is a touching and intense story about love, pain, and healing. Harlow moves to a new town after her brother's death, hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she meets Jace Rivera, the popular basketball star next door, who is dealing with his own heavy issues.

Alone with You by Aly Martinez is one of those books that hits you right in the feels. It's a beautiful, emotional ride that combines two of my favorite tropes: second chances and single parenthood.
The story follows a war veteran who’s basically shut himself off from the world, except for his daughter and a weekly trip to a diner. Everything changes when Gwendolyn Pierce, someone from his past, comes back into his life. What seems like a simple romance at first takes some surprising turns that kept me hooked all the way through.

Even though the book moves quickly, it never feels rushed—just the right mix of fast-paced and deeply emotional.

End Game is a light and fun new adult romance. Kaipo, the charismatic hero, adds a dash of sizzle to the story, making it an absolute page-turner. The dynamic between the extroverted Kaipo and the introverted Ophelia brings a refreshing additional layer to the plot.
