This series is well done, with plots spanning multiple volumes and a mystery at the heart of it. Each book seems to peel back a new layer. This book features Ry and Avery. They are my favourite couple so far. The relationships in this family are messy - lots of hurts, plenty of angst and lots of love too. I’d like to hang out with these people - Avery is so strong. And Ry is one of those quiet guys who surprise you with their intensity.

I finished it due to sheer stubbornness on my part. I did not enjoy the dynamic between hero and heroine. It felt creepy and wrong - the age, experience and power gap between them was too huge. I found the violence shocking too. Did not enjoy.

The suspense aspect was really well done, and the ongoing mystery of the helicopter, the mole, etc. has me guessing. I feel like this series gets better with each book.

It was nice to immerse myself in the emotional intensity and richness of a Ms. Hill novel. I really wanted to see how Ms. Hill was going to redeem Marius. He’s such an asshole, fucking with Somme’s minds in previous books. Regina has made appearances too in previous books. I thought her background perfectly suited what Marius needed. And the background on how Marius ended up as he is at the beginning of the book explains a lot. I respected him more after he saw, really saw, what he had done to others and began to make amends. I felt like Regina and Marius’ HEA was hard won.

Roscoe has been a bit of a cipher throughout the series, always in the background, but never center stage. His story is really well done. He and Simone are good together. Simone’s internal monologue is hilarious and super smart. It’s a feel good romance for sure, with less emphasis on the Iron Wraith MC, which I appreciated. Now tell me that Billy’s story is next.

Vivian Arend - Tangled Tinsel (r Dec 18/16) Fun shifter story. Mild suspense, great chemistry between the hero and heroine.
Vivi Andrews - No Angel ( Vivian Arend - Tangled Tinsel (r Dec 18/16) Fun shifter story. Mild suspense, great chemistry between the hero and heroine.
Vivi Andrews - No Angel (r Dec 19/16) More intense than I expected. I enjoyed this rendition of earth, heaven, hell, angels and demons. The heroine was totally kick-ass. The hero came into his own as well. There is a lot of story in this novella. It’s really well done.
Moira Rogers - Freeze Line (r Dec 20/16) Couldn’t stop reading this. A great story set in a dystopian world, with a witch and a werewolf. The love was a little too insta for me, but overall, so well done that I forgave it. Nadia is another kick-ass heroine. I want to be her when I grow up.

It was exciting, action packed, good chemistry between hero and heroine. Heroine is a cop, and a good one. It was good to see a strong female lead, who wasn't TSTL. I did get annoyed by how often she flipped from trust to "he betrayed me". After the third time, it was like, come on, you gotta believe him by now.

In the end, I’ll give this three stars. And I will read the next one. Even though there are a lot of cliches here: poor little rich girl, bad boy who has a heart of gold, etc., etc., I am hooked on the premise and want to read Mason and Levi’s story.

I was a bit disoriented at the start of this book, as I didn’t recall the details of the Elder Gods, and the Otherworlds featured in The Chosen. After that, I settled in to read the story of an awesome heroine and the strong hero. Their love story is contrasted with the beginning of a war. I really just want more of the story between these two.
