I rolled my eyes for the last time and put it down at 17% which is surprising considering I wanted to drop it at 11%. I decided to give it one more shot. Yeah, no thank you.
I can't say if the book gets better, but the purple prose turned me off right at the start. Then we have the instalove and instant make out session with her love. They just met! It made no sense.
Then there's Skyla our main character. Her dad died two years before, her mom remarried and she's been moved from LA to a small island in Washington state. She has a sister, a stepsister and a boy described as her half brother but whom I suspect is actually her stepbrother considering they are the same age and she hates him. Anyway Skyla waffles between hating being there and loving it. In the same paragraph. She's instantly popular, beautiful and everyone wants her and oh ps she can read minds.
This plot was so all over the place and confusing. The stereotypes and inconsistencies just drove me nuts. And the instalove. Generally I'm ok with it but not that quickly!
So yeah, no thank you. I'm not wasting my time finishing it. ...more

Suze's friend Gina comes to town for a visit, but that doesn't stop Suze from her mediator duties. This time it's 4 high school seniors who were killed in a car accident...and they want revenge on the nerdy drive of the other car that caused them to crash. But it was an accident...or was it?
Sometimes Suze annoys me in that she's so physical in her responses and doesn't let anyone in emotionally. I'd like to see some character growth there....more

I was annoyed with America's inability to be honest with herself and for also stringing Maxon and Aspen along. But mostly I was annoyed with the King and what the former US had turned in to. Honestly, it was almost offensive for me to read that my country had turned into a dictatorial monarchy. It is such anathema to me that it just made my insides crawl. I'm an American to my core, I guess, and fully believe in "home of the free"....more
