Geryon is unattractive as a monster. Kadence is beautiful as an angel. This is another version of the Beauty and the Beast fairytale, which serves as an excellent prequel for the Lords of the Underworld. It will explain the origins of Pandora ’s Box.
Although it is a short novel, the love story is strong and fulfilling. Very enjoyable book!

A great “Enemies to Lovers” story. Greeks and Titans are enemies. Atlas was a prisoner and Nike’s slave in the beginning…and she tattooed her name on his chest. Until Titans win the war. After that Nike will be a prisoner of Atlas… and he will tattoo his name on her back.
“I will kill you for this,” she growled at him. “Why? I’m not doing anything to you that you didn’t once have done to me.”
Atlas will try to punish her, but it is too late. They have fallen hopelessly in love with each other.

Demon Pain and Lord Reyes are Frenemies. Unfortunately they have to share the same body. Luckily Reyes cannot die, because Pain is definitely pushing his limits. Thirsty for hurting, Reyes endures the most excruciating circumstances.
He lives for the thrill of pain:
...he jumps from high buildings, ...he cuts his flesh deeply, ...he inflicts self-mutilation, ..he bleeds and bruises and breaks his bones.
When he recovers, he starts all over again. No pain is enough pain.
Jump, Pain said. Then, more insistently, Jump! Jump! “I told you. Just a few seconds more.” Once again Reyes glanced at the ground. Jagged rocks winked in that bleeding moonlight, the clear puddles surrounding them rippling in the wind. Mist rose like ghostly fingers, summoning him closer, wonderfully closer.
When Danika is sent as a bait from the Lord of the Underworld’s enemies (i.e. the Hunters), the last thing she expects is to be mated to the Lord of Pain and to become one of the Lords’ allies. The only thing she wants is to save her family that somehow is tangled in the Lord’s war.
Reyes will fall in love with Danika with the only way he knows:

Lucien used to be the Captain of the Immortal Guard at the Zeus’s army. Now, he is the leader of the Lords. His face is disfigured and full of scars. This is really weird because all the Lords are extremely handsome. Apparently he is the one that deliberately scarred his face many centuries ago after he suffered from a broken heart and deep sorrow.
He was known as the Dark One. Malach ha-Maet. Yama. Azreal. Shadow Walker. Mairya. King of the Dead. He was all of those things and more, for he was a Lord of the Underworld.
Anya will be attracted to Lucien. And Lucien cannot believe it, because Anya is pretty, funny, wicked, sparkly. Oh, and she also loves lollipops. What does she want from him?
But Anya is also untouched, cursed and she does not lie. She really likes Lucien – although she cannot have sex with him.
Lucien will be equally attracted to her. Unfortunately the gods will order (blackmail basically) Lucien to take Anya’s soul.
Lucien keeps rejecting her and avoiding her in order not to take her soul. Anya keeps coming back.
“I can’t seem to get enough of you.” “I cannot get enough of you, either.”
This is the book that wicked, playful William is also introduced. He is Anya’s best friend:
“I'm William, but you can call me Sexy. Everyone does.”
I absolutely loved the book. It is my favorite from the series. The sexual tension is strong. Anya is super funny. Lucien is super dark and sad.
He didn’t face her. “I said go away.” “Like I’m going to obey you. You aren’t my daddy. Unless you want to be. ’Cause I’ve been a bad, naughty girl and I need a spanking.” A pained groan escaped him. “Anya. Please.”
These two are completely opposite to each other, but they also complement each other perfectly....more

In ancient time, Maddox is the warrior that killed Pandora and then the box that included all the vicious demons disappeared and all the demons possessed the responsible warriors who opened it. The demons have been imprinted on the warriors’ bodies with BUTTERRLY tattoos. All of them have been cursed for thousands of years to suffer.
Every night death came, slowly, painfully, and every morning Maddox awoke in bed, knowing he’d have to die again later.
Ashlyn is a very confused girl. Totally reliant on the World Institute of Parapsychology and totally tired of hearing voices, she is sent to Budapest to meet the “men” who are rumored to have supernatural abilities. She needs help; the Lords think that she is bait from their worst enemies. And maybe she is. Before they come to a conclusion, lonely Maddox already wants her and already protects her. Their age difference does not really matter. Ashlyn is twenty-four years, while Maddox is a few thousands.
“Why? What’s she to you?” “Mine,” was the only answer he had. “She’s mine.”
Lords of the Underworld is one of my favorite PNR series. I have already reread most of the books a few times. The world building is fascinated. Its mythology that tangles mainly ancient Greek myths, myths from other countries, stories from the bible and the writer’s imagination is excellent.
I also love the dark humor of the novels.
The Darkest Night introduces the story of Maddox and Ashlyn which will only grow stronger in the next books as well as some details of the stories of the rest of the Lords who are waiting patiently their own book and their own love story and salvation....more

I was very disappointed with book. It was not really bad. It was desent. But it did not give me this whoa factor I was expecting. I mean I heard and read so many reviews about how great Dark Hunters series is and then I started reading this book and I couldn't understand what was the fuss about them.
It took me about a year after I read this book to be convinced to continue with the series. Then I realised this was not actually the first book, it was just a companion book. And I was promised the rest of the books will get better and better. And so, this is what it seems so far with what I have read.
Things I hated or I found ridiculous: -The cheesy dialogues. I was rolling my eyes continuously. -Title of book completely misleading. The only actual sex scenes were found in the last few pages and they were not that great. -Grace was a sex therapist and her behaviour was almost virginal towards Julian. Are her patients really satisfied with her treatment? -Julian's family. Especially cupid, the biker guy. No no no..... -Julian became a university professor after being a soldier and a sex slave. But he had life experience. Ooookay. ...more
