He lifted his hand, cupped my cheek, and said in a voice so deep, so masculine I couldn't help but shiver, "You're mine female".
I liked the story!
I don't care that this book is not historical accurate.
I don't care if there were truly bad vikings and good vikings who were fighting each other somewhere, sometime, a long time ago.
They are vikings and this is a fact! Because:
-The names sound viking i.e. Ingrid and Gunnar and their friends Thorsen and Viggo. -There is a viking ship. -There is a viking village and a viking hut and viking dry salted pork meat. -And scattered vikings all around.
So, yes we are talking about vikings in case you didn't get it.
And Ingrid and Gunnar are having a good time together in the viking bathing tub.
"You feel good on top of me, my female." "And you feel good under my, my Viking."...more
Everything started with that boy, Frederick Cory. Thirteen years old Benjamin was fascinated by him. When one night he followed him at the chapel and Everything started with that boy, Frederick Cory. Thirteen years old Benjamin was fascinated by him. When one night he followed him at the chapel and he saw what the seventeen years old Frederick did to seventeen years old George, Benjamin’s life changed forever. Since then Benjamin became very ill and very weak. And Frederick really was very cruel with Benjamin.
“Go. Go and say nothing. To anyone,” Frederick whispered. “Or I will make sure you suffer.”
10 years after, a “brilliant” doctor will “save” Benjamin. The “doctor” will explain to him that many males in his age are suffering from the same illness and he will suggest an innovative, world-shuttering “treatment”, which Benjamin will follow devotionally.
Honestly I could not help it feeling sorry for and laughing at the shy young man. Full of naivety and ignorance Benjamin believes the charlatan doctor and in a matter of weeks his morality, ethics and any hesitation goes out of the window. On the other hand maybe it is the only way for him to embrace his true self.
Still Benjamin’s story is like a big, cruel joke.
Thankfully everything will end with that man, Frederick Cory. This time Frederick will be very gentle with Benjamin.
“If it was indeed my fault, time for me to take responsibility for my actions, isn’t it?”
So, there is a happy ending and Benjamin will never be ill or weak again....more

A long time ago somewhere in Ireland the not so young vampire Connlan Kayrs mated a young and inexperienced witch. Moira Dunne was the seventh sister of the seventh sister and she was destined to be powerful and great as part of the Coven Nine. She had the potential to be the most powerful ruler of the Council of the Coven Nine. Unfortunately her powers were still underdeveloped and the fact that she was mated did not really help. Conn realizing his mistake, left her alone for 100 years to come into terms with the fact that she is his and to gain the knowledge and the powers.
In “Hunted”, Conn is back to Ireland. This time, he will never let his little witch leave him. The first meeting naturally does not go well:
“Hello, mate.” “You need to go home, Connlan.” “Or what?” “Or I’ll destroy you.”
Their relationship, 100 years after, needs to be reestablished. The timing is not the best for The Realm: -The Council of the Coven Nine wants to stop obeying to the vampire king and stop the alliance between the witches and the vampires. - The Realm is at war with the Kurjans. - The demons have declared war as well. - Caleb the new prophet for the Realm is at war with the Demons for a century and now he has the Realm backing. -The shifters are not happy their leader the lion Jordan, while he has his own problems with his lioness Katie Smith. -Witches disappear. -Shifters become mindless werewolves.
Obviously it is not the best time to fall in love all over again. But Conn really insists: “I want all of you, Moira.”
And their intimate moments will be full of passion and abandonment.
To be honest, I really thought that the series would be less complicated. I am glad it is not what I thought. I am happy with this complex world so far and I love the way the species intertwine, fight and fall in love....more

There are some books that are tied with your childThis is one of these books… There are some books that may influence your life and the way you think. There are some books that are tied with your childhood and when you grow up you will feel choked with emotion when you read them again.
When this book was firstly published in English, I was just born. When the TV series was firstly shown on US TV, I was five years old. A few years later, it was introduced in Greek TV. I was less than 8 years love but I fell in love with John Blackthorne. I still remember the impact of the TV series. Everybody was trying to learn Japanese (during the first episodes, it was the only language you could hear) and to play with swords.
When I grew up I tried to learn Japanese, but I never succeeded. I learned “Domo” and “Domo arigato”, but only thanks to the series… I tried to learn the Katana (wooden of course), but I was a disaster waiting to happen… At least I managed to learn a bit of ju jitsu and judo. I managed to visit Japan, when I was much older. And it was great because it was early April and it was cherry blossom season in Osaka.
When I was older I read the book finally and I watched the TV series again. I wanted to feel again how it was when I was a child and everybody was running on the street in order not to miss the beginning of the episode. I have missed this. Books and TV series based on books do not make the people so sentimental anymore. Expect maybe the “Game of thrones” lately, but not everybody will run on the street not to miss the start of the show hahaha. You can always watch it later on the internet.
Was the Shōgun story based on accurate facts? Not really, but who cares? It is a wonderful love story and a great way to present a great civilization. And this is the only thing that matters....more

Later he will discover that Mal is his familiar and accept to be his witch.
Owen is maybe the cleverest in the Metropolitan Witch Police, MWP. He is the one and only forensic hexman. He uses hexes as evidences, to identify suspects etc. Owen comes from a rich and well respected family. There is no need to work at the witch police, but he really loves his job. Unfortunately his family has a tragic past and will have a more tragic future, unless Owen marries the daughter of a wealthy family. Sadly and truly Owen has different tastes, but he cannot say no to his duty. Consequently this will be his last week at his favorite work. After that, there will be a glorious marriage (where even the mayor will be present) and a change in his career.
Malachi belongs in one of the biggest crime rings in New York City. He is a canny and cute fox and slightly manipulative but in a charming way. Being a thief is matter of survival. It is the only thing that he has learned to do since he was at the orphanage. Life can be very cruel to an uneducated, lowlife fox in New York. He just wants to have something to eat every day and somewhere to sleep every night. Malachi does not want to bond. He knows that familiars -especially small size familiars- are treated as pets by their witches from high society. They are not allowed to use their human form outside the house and they are kept constantly in their animal form, while they live with the servants. His opinion will change when he meets Owen and he is unstoppably attracted to him. But Owen has a wedding to attend at the end of the week. His wedding.
The wedding of the century will take place while a criminal plan is set into motion during one of the worst storms in the history of New York City.
Owen and Malachi is another great storyline in the series, while we sink more in this marvelous new world that was inspired by true events that happened more than 100 years ago. (Yes, the Young’s Rectal Dilators were real! And they were used for medical purposes. I googled it. LOL)
I loved Owen’s nerdiness and silent quality of character. I loved Malachi’s cheekiness and the breath of fresh air he brings to Owen.
I really hope that Quigley & Isaac’s book be up next....more

That was the day that New York, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the East Bronx will be merged in the Great New York City.
The city is protected by the ordinary police force, but also by Metropolitan Witch Police, MWP, which deals with magic related crimes. Because New York is full of magic and hexes. A hex can be used as a lock, as an alarm, as protection etc.
The ordinary police force is highly corrupted and not really accepted by most civilians. MWP is honorable and treats equally women and men, witches and familiars of any form. The MWP headquarters are full of witches and familiars. Familiars are basically shifters who mostly prefer their animal form and they can enhance the magic of witches. Especially, when the right familiar is bonded with his/her witch; the magic they will produce will be off the charts.
Tom Halloran is a cop in the ordinary police force. He is man with many secrets:
• a few years ago used to be an outlaw, • his name was Liam, • he was a member of the O’ Connell tunnel gang, • he is a witch and a hexbreaker.
But Tom is really a good, decent man. He has reinvented himself and now he just wants to be an ordinary, boring, unnoticeable policeman.
Cicero is a cultured, bohemian familiar who works for MWP. Deep down, he is truly a cute black cat.
When Tom and Cicero are brought together for a common investigation, Cicero is shocked. The rough, not very bright Irishman is his witch.
I love the fact that the writer mixes real events with paranormal fiction. It made me curious about the historical events of that particular period in New York. The atmosphere of the book reminded me of the film “Gangs of New York”, while the paranormal side of the book was different from the shifters’ books I normally read.

The main heroine of this book made me so angry!
Ella is forty, she is married with three grown up children, she lives in a beautiful house with a beautiful garden, she has just got a part time job as a reader for a literally agency and she is utterly unhappy.
The question is “was she ever happy?” She married her husband at a young age. I am not sure if she ever loved him or if she stopped loving him as soon as the children were born and she needed to shift her attention and her love to them. She was tolerating her husband’s infidelities without saying a word. I suppose her husband has had numerous flings. He even got a letter from a hotel he was using, in which they asked him if he was happy with the services provided!
And the heroine was just standing there in the middle of this beautiful house, in the middle of this “beautiful” life being surrounded by her family and friends and feeling completely alone. She basically was living her life like it was a movie and she has just there to play the part. Like a ghost, like a zombie.
I guess in cases like this she could kill herself truly or metaphorically speaking. Or she could snap. And that is essentially what she does. She snaps. While reading a manuscript about the 13th century Sufi poet Rumi and Shams, she starts an exchange of emails with the mysterious author of the book, Aziz. The manuscript is talking about love and rules about love.
Ella suddenly awakens and starts wondering if she loves, if she ever loved and if she ever been loved. Her relationship with the author is on the whole through exchange of emails.
When Ella and Aziz finally meet, it is glorious but it is short-lived.
This book made me so angry! And it made me shedding tears in the end. ...more

That's because Dageus, thEven if you have not read the previous Highlander books by Moning, this is a must-read book if you are a "fever" series fan. That's because Dageus, the main character of the book, plays a vital role in the last 3 books of the "Fever" series, ie. Burned, Feverborn and most probably in Feversong which was not published when I was writing this review (it will be out in January 2017).
Dageus is the man of the 3 Ds: Dark, Dangerous and Druid. He is inhabited by the souls of 13 ancient evil druids (Draghar) as a panishment for using his power to go back in time in order to save his brother, Drustan. The spirits are behaving themselves only if Dageus is having constantly sex.
The book starts with him living in New York, searching like crazy for a cure for his condition. There he meets Chloe, a student who is drawn to his world. He kidnaps her and he convice her to help him. Together they are visiting Scotland and his brother Drustan and they go back in time to meet his father Silvan. A great love is born between them....more

A bit clumsy as she was, she lost her balance and landed on top of him waking him up. The sleeping beauty, Drustan, had been slept for 500 years and he was a bit lost when he woke up in 21st century, but Gwen helped him found his way.
This was a great love story!
I had a goofy smile while I was reading it from the beginning until the end. The story is basically divided into two parts. -The first part is taking place in the 21st century when Drustan wakes up and Gwen thinks he is completely crazy -The second part is taking place in the 16th century when Gwen travels back in time, Drustan does not remember her and he thinks she is completely crazy.
I honestly wished I had read this book and the ones that follow before the Fever series by Moning. Apparently as I realised Drustan is Christian's uncle. Christian is the druid who is helping Mac and in Fever we meet again Drustan and his brother Dugeous.
Finally, I know that what I am about to say will sound very boring but doesn't the guy in the bookcover has the most kissable lips you have ever seen? ...more

Lisa lives in the 21st century. She is looking after her sick mother and she is working 2 jobs to pay for the bills. A little of magic and she ends up in old Scotland while Circenn has already taken an oath to kill her. Of course they fall in love.
In this book Adam Black is manipulating people's lives again and there is a huge revelation about him towards the end that it will make you go back and reread the parts of the book which included him. I know there is a story about him later in the series that I am dying to read.
