It was like Great writing style and world building, but this book bored me to tears. Had to skim the end. No angst and the h really got on my nerves. I didn’t find the h’s 180 about having children to be realistic. I didn’t find the love between the MC’s to be very convincing. All they had was sex. They didn’t have much in common at all. I wasn’t feeling the chemistry between the MC’s. Adam was needlessly callous and cruel, especially about her autonomy and her job. I wonder what ended up happening with her job? It seemed she was put needlessly in danger and that the other Alphas were circling like sharks.
Maddox was a super creepy character. I don’t understand what he was there for. There were some hot scenes in this book, but the humiliation was OTT. I wasn’t feeling the love during the supposed HEA. The author has created a depressing world for Omegas, as they seem to be valued only as chattel and not as human beings by all of society. An epilogue would’ve been nice to have seen how things turned out.
Trigger warning: dubious consent, objectification, and outright misogyny...more

Kess got on my nerves quite a bit at first, but she came around. I thought she was way too hard on Hunter by blaming him for everything, considering all she supposedly knew about the state of her world. I thought the book ending to be a bit abrupt. The kidnapping was maddeningly predictable. I would’ve liked to have seen what happened when they rejoined the alpha camp. I’m assuming there will be a sequel. ...more

* How did the book make you feel?: It was an entertaining read. As far as omegaverse books go, it’s an interesting premise.
* How do you feel about how the story was told?: I liked the world building. I felt that the writing was unnecessarily detailed in some parts—especially explaining the technology. I wish more attention had been paid to character development.
* What did you think about the main characters?: I didn’t feel like I understood the H’s motives and he seemingly did a 180. He went from outright rejecting his mate to trying to win her back in the span of a day or so. I liked the h. Her backstory was heartbreaking.
* Which parts of the book stood out to you?: It was raunchy in that way omegaverse books are!
* What themes/tropes did you detect in the story?: rejected mate, omegaverse
* What did you think about the ending?: It was predictable, but I liked the setup for the sequels.
* What is your impression of the author?: I will likely read more of this series next time the omegaverse mood strikes me.

* How did the book make you feel?: I devoured it! I’ve been waiting for this story for YEARS. Of course, it ended on another cliffie, but I’m not mad. I hope it doesn’t take another 4 years for the next installment. * How do you feel about how the story was told?: I was surprised at the turn of this story, but it was very riveting. * What did you think about the main characters?: I was wondering if Brenya was on the spectrum, and in this book it was revealed she is a genius. I was originally team Jacques, but he was pretty irredeemable after what he orchestrated. Jules was quite surprising. I didn’t see his rise to power coming and I wasn’t disappointed. This series promises to be different than others (minus gang rape, cheating, things like that). I enjoyed the world building. There are 12 sectors and there seems to be a movement toward empowering the omegas in most sectors. Our h flees her abusive stepfather and evil mother and infiltrates the H’s household, not knowing how powerful he is or his true identity. H realizes what a prize she is and he waits for her to go through her first estrous and reach maturity before claiming her.
This book has explicit sex and violence and the plot is fast-paced. This promises to be an interesting series. I’ll look for more!
