I liked the angst, but I also felt Aspen was overly-sensitive. Yes, she was between a rock and a hard place, which was so unfair to her. I felt like Aspen took everything Bram said the wrong way and she was projecting onto him. Of course he was not without fault and was a huge ass.
I think Bethany deserved forgiveness less than Bram, honestly. It irked me that Bethany was so instantly forgiven but Bram had to grovel when what Bethany said and did was SO much worse....more

I’m sure I’ll be thinking about it for a long time. I picked it up because it’s set in my neck of the woods. This author’s prose and voice are very good.
There were some inaccuracies that irked me—namely them having explicit phone sex over what would have been, historically, a party line. The sex was gratuitous and gory. The plot was interesting but I would’ve liked to have Wright made aware of the fact that Ridge didn’t do what he thought he did. I wanted to see Wright get his HEA. I’m assuming from the epilogue that he is over Sadie and has found someone else. ...more

The cover of this book does it a great disservice. This is one of the best books I have read in a long time and I will recommend it a great deal.
I loved the world building and I loved the main characters. I’m not going to spoil the ending, but it’s very hard-won. I couldn’t put this down. The writing is beautiful. There was wit intermixed with heart-wrenching tragedy, and passion. This story will stay with me for a long time. Read it!...more

Number one, it was super improbable. Also, if he was a police officer, couldn’t Keegan have tracked Blakeley down after he lost her number? Also, why the heck would Keegan allow Benton around his baby mama and son knowing he was being investigated?
The whole story was super implausible. Characters did complete 180’s that didn’t make sense. Sierra got a personality transplant. What was with the instalove between her and Kolton? It made sense that Blakely and Keegan got engaged because they already had a son together and were making up for lost time, but Kolton and Sierra had just started dating! Also, Benton’s actions at the end made little sense. He was a supposed “nice” guy and his snapping didn’t make sense. ...more

The big**spoiler alert** This book didn’t have the insane soap-opera level drama as the first in the series, but I felt like the plot draggggggggged. The biggest problem was Valentia, our h, who just couldn’t seem to get it through her skull that Luca actually, really loved her, so her insecurity was like an anchor dragging the plot down. Things would be good, then she’d succumb to her insecurity and then days/weeks of separation would happen that didn’t make sense.
Characters’ motivations didn’t make sense in this novel. Valentina’s crippling insecurity and her father’s abandonment and subsequent sabotage of her life weren’t fully explained. Luca did a lot of groveling, but it actually got old because there was no angst to support it. The meddling of grandma is so annoying in this series. She’s such an obnoxious character. The OW’s motivations weren’t clear as she just accepted the broken engagement and gracefully bowed out.
This book was toooooo long and frankly, boring. I doubt I’ll continue the series. This author has talent and will undoubtedly get better, though....more

I like the author’s writing style and the plot kept me intrigued. The h was a real heinous bitch at the beginning. Her torturing Bass when all he was doing (as far as she knew) was trying to protect her was disgusting. I didn’t believe her 180 personality change.
Poor Bass’s nephew is a real piece of work. Bass really suffered and I didn’t quite understand what the point of all of it was. Some aspects of the story were very far-fetched. I’m excited for Michele’s story....more

Hoka was too wooden and remote and Violet was an oblivious and maddeningly-naive paragon. There were a lot of little typos and the writing didn’t have a seamless flow.
When it got to the angsty-goodness, my enjoyment increased. It wasn’t drawn out and a lot of the h’s suffering (TW: miscarriage) was off-page, so it wasn’t as heart-wrenching as it could’ve been. I did enjoy Hoka’s groveling. The epilogues were nice. I’m interested in what happens to Jiro....more

I liked the MC’s and thought they were well-developed. This book is a slow burn that’s not super steamy.
The h and H sort of have a miscommunication which makes them think the other one doesn’t want the other. Once that’s cleared up, they come together. I would’ve liked that part of the story to be fleshed out more. It seemed they had so many obstacles to overcome to become a couple, but in the end they were glossed over so easily....more

I was rooting for Ronan and I felt for Sasha too. I loved the slow burn of their relationship and hated that Donny was able to abuse Sasha while Ronan was protecting Mack. That was really shitty.
I loved their HEA and loved seeing Ronan come out of his shell. I loved how good Sasha was to Ronan and how he became trusting of her. I also loved that he was a virgin! Ghost is the first and my favorite book I’ve read in this series, but Reaper is a close 2nd....more

It seemed like Tobias and Cecilia had to wade through so much shit to get their HEA. And then they still had to wait 7 more years to get married!? How old is Cecilia now? 33? I would’ve just said “forget it” lol. She got to watch everyone around her have children and their HEA’s while Tobias was making sure he wasn’t schizophrenic. What? Picked up this series that seemingly takes itself way too seriously. I’m glad that Cecilia is finally coming into her own. Her age made her gullibility more believable. It was also painful to read.
I couldn’t stand Sean and his mansplaining, arrogant preachiness. Not one bit. Not rooting for him. I think I like Dominic, because at least he stands by his convictions and he’s heartless. I don’t for a second believe these two love Cecilia and I’m wondering why she isn’t warning her father about their plot so she doesn’t lose her inheritance. After all, she was just a pawn to them at first.

She was constantly going off half-cocked and running into situations where she had no backup or exit strategy. They were going at it all the time, but Mack was constantly exasperating and betraying Lachlan. It got old!

I really adored Emerson’s character. He did some ridiculous things, especially trying to throw Charlotte back at his son, but I liked him. He was especially desperate acting with his son—excusing all his bad behavior and throwing large sums of money at him. Beau was a spoiled, judgmental brat!
Charlotte was spunky and I liked how she stood up for herself and went after what she wanted. What I didn’t enjoy was how entitled Beau was and how he basically got away with emotionally abusing and using Charlotte. She goes from being victimized by him to hugging him and being thrown into going on a date with him after she and Emerson have begun their relationship. I thought it was so weird. ...more

I will revisit it if there are any significant changes to the plot. There were some errors in this one, but it wasn’t bad. Rosette continues to be exasperating, but likable. We get to learn more about Alister’s history and see their love grow. The smexy time is spicy. Alister is VERY forgiving of Rosette’s outrageous behavior. The epilogue was very sweet. Poor Alister! I thoroughly enjoyed it.
