It was a tragic story but Eve and her band of cops along with her husband hunt hard for the killer(s). Eve also runs into an old crime against one of her victims. She feels she must get some justice for that crime as well. It was nice to watch her work through all the scenes and clues to find justice for her victims old and new. As always the writing is excellent. The way the author sets everything up it leaves you wondering who did what! Fun stuff....more

It is just hard to really take anything about him seriously because he sounds really "bro" like. As the story rolls on I did get into the story. By the end of the book it was getting pretty good.
Now, worldbuilding wasn't great. It took a long time for me to figure things out and I still am unsure if I understood the world. Also there is some editing issues. Sentences at times were confusing or ordered incorrectly, which does detract from the story.
In the end I went with 4 stars in the rating but in reality it was more 3.5. It has some really strong points and some not so good....more

This wasn't quite so heavy so it had a better vibe for me. I really loved the descriptive world building. X is a great hero for the story. I didn't like Tate as much. Tate is much more optimistic than X, though that optimism is sometimes just "I would have already died by now" so if I do I had more time than before. The two should have rubbed each other raw. X knows the world and Tate is very coddled. I have to say though I felt the relationship was more possession and obsession. I didn't really feel the love in the story. I do believe in the relationship though. I think they will make it stick. It just most of the time didn't feel like love.
I loved the story though. The different landscapes and culture the two had to navigate to make it to their ultimate happy ending. I did think the ending was a bit too neatly wrapped but it works for me. ...more

I think I liked this one a little less because there really isn't as much growth to the relationship between the two but really there isn't much need for more. I have never read any books by this author before. It was interesting to see what style of writing this contained. I have to say it is a light style. I didn't like the whole no communication/miscommunication issue that occurs. Also the whole deal with the crisis at the end of the story is a little too easy to see coming.
Still I do enjoy lighter stories on occasion and the overall story wasn't bad at all. I think it is a book that most will either really like or really hate. There seems to be little compromise on that. I thought the story was a fun read that will agree with people looking for a lighter, "sweet" romance. I am interested in where the author will go with the series.
The narrator was really good. He has always done a good job with bringing life to the story and voice to the characters. He is an enjoyable listen.

Seeing these characters in a real actiony type book would be good. I would love to see more to them than just explanations.
Re-read: I think I have enjoyed this more the second time around. I think Liam and Ondry are making a solid relationship and have come a long way. Now that the two are doing so well, we have Earth and all its human complications added. Liam finally confronts more of his past and those in it and Ondry's people get to see how humans are all very different from one another. I do believe this story is a great read. The author does very well with showing how difficult it is for each race to really understand each other. I would love to read the next book and may just go do so soon....more
