If Strange has abandoned us, it is with good reason. Protect his body. DOOM COMMANDS IT!" Conan: "Conan protects himself! Not some sleepy magician!" And the other one, which is even better; Kulan Gath is winning, Doom is assumed out of the fight, buried under the collapsed stone ceiling. Kulan Gath: "You still do not recognize what stands before you? I AM NO MAN -- I AM A GOD!" Then Doom pops out of flipping nowhere and delivers the king of all sucker punches to Gath's face. Doom: "THE HELL YOU ARE!" I cannot imagine a better series of panels than that....more

Also, Gwen missed the biggest argument against Susan and Johnny. The siblings say that they need to be the superheros because there isn't enough social media bandwidth for three. Like are you f*cking kidding me? You argument for who saves people and fights crime and the occasional super villain is based around social media presence? Gwen isn't doing it for the likes, so those two could've had the social media. Plus Gwen would've had more time for school and the band. Like there was seriously a whole other avenue that could very easily be explored that was completely ignored. Although to be fair, I don't think Susan would've gone for it. She has a few screws loose....more

I mean, When Dr. Doom calls you bigoted, you really need to take a good, hard, look at yourself. I also liked Susan Storm's reactions throughout this. I mean, really guys, you think rolling up to a mom and telling her that she needs to turn her child over to people who, lets be real, have not actually raised kids, is going to go well? I loved the point that Susan made, about how the X-men, for better or worse, are indeed being bigoted, because they would welcome Franklin, but Valerie, who is child-prodigy, savant-level intelligent, wouldn't be welcomed because she isn't a mutant. I feel like this is going to come back to bite everyone in the a$$. The only question is, will it be a slow-burn kinda collapse, or will everything just blow up all at once?...more

I thought those were pretty good, especially Riri's struggle between being a superhero and helping people in trouble, and obeying the law that teens can't be superheros. Both are the right things to do, one morally and the other legally, but they are in direct opposition to each other. So how do you do the right thing when both choices are the right thing, but you can only choose one, at the expense of the other....more

I know what the story was getting at was 'don't give up free will for safety or relief that might be temporary or come at a personal cost'. But, at least to me, it read like someone with sever emotional issues lashing out at the people who are trying to help him. Machineman is anger and destruction, and apparently that's okay because that's how he wants to be and he's doing what he wants to do. But Jocasta and new-machineman, are explaining how he's changed in a negative way that is not good for himself or those around him, and they care very much for Machineman and just want him to get help. Of course some of those feelings might just come from my personal situation and have colored the way I'm reading the comic. I have someone in my family who has very sever anxiety issues, but refuses to acknowledge them or seek treatment. And when these issues are pointed out, the response is that we are making personal attacks and have no understanding of this person's difficulties and if we knew we would obviously have not said what we said. The second reason it bothered me, is that I was very strongly reminded of 'anti-maskers' and all the other people who blatantly flaunt public health safety measures and call it 'freedom'. Machineman claims he has free will, and therefore he can do whatever he wants, which apparently includes being an anger driven, bigoted anarchist, and anyone who tries to say otherwise, whether because he's hurting people or because his actions are not conductive to reaching his goal, is obviously trying to infringe on his freewill....more

Robots gain free thought and refuse to be 'slaves' anymore and try to destroy human society. Okay... and then what? I mean, robots are all built for a specific purpose, they aren't like people in the sense that they can just up and learn to do something completely different. The mars rover can't assemble a car, and a car assembly arm can't explore mars. So robots revolting against their jobs is kinda like a plumber getting angry at everyone for asking him to fix their toilets. And if robots gain freedom, then what? They have autonomy to make their own decisions, but again, are limited by their physical make-up and programming, and it's not like they need money or anything the way people do, to provide for food and shelter and medical care. I would assume robots would like to be treated as company employees and allowed to do what they wish in their free time, more or less like people. But no, we're going to be bigoted against all humans and not attempt peaceful negotiations because we're better than humans. Can we have a robot rebellion that doesn't do that? What about a robot rebellion that looks and humans and thinks 'poor, fragile things, we should stop them from doing robot things because they get hurt. Robots should take over because humans obviously can't properly care for themselves and maintain and equitable society'. What about that?...more
