Instead it focused not on a psychic girl who can suddenly see ghosts but a girl that has an abundant source of electrical power that she was born with that affects anything electronic around her. She is like one huge battery and because of this ghosts seem to be attracted to her. They actually feed off of the power radiating from her. Strengthening them in the process. She can also sense the power radiating in others, kind of like an aura.
And if that wasn't weird enough, throw in a group of friends that all share one thing in common, a past life together, a little mythology and a maybe trip to the underworld and you get one heck of a ghost story filled with twists and turns.
While this story wasn't perfect it was a really fun read and like I mentioned, it was nice not reading a typical ghost story for a change. Having something different and a little unexpected.
The characters, while all totally different in their personalities, really meshed well together and I enjoyed watching them all bond together over a common goal (getting rid of the ghost of course!) and each play off of each others strengths.
I think Mr. Terry was my favorite character even though he was a complete secondary character and really didn't have that big of a role in this story. He just reminded me so much of those really great fun teachers you have in high school who make coming to school so much fun and learning something you enjoy doing instead of something you have to do. I am kind of sad he actually didn't have a bigger role in this book. I really think it would have been fun to see more of him and to have him help all of the kids out a little more.
I actually kept expecting him to show up at the last minute and come to their rescue but I should have known that they would be able to take care of themselves.
And I will admit, I didn't see the ending coming and playing out like it did. And the little comic story at the end? That was just awesome!
I really did enjoy this unique story line and I really think anyone that enjoys paranormal YA books will like this one too.

She is still sadIn the second book in the Graveyard Queen series Amelia is sent to a little town called Asher Falls to restore an old cemetery there. She is still sad about everything that happened (and didn't happen) between her and Devlin in the first book so the change of town and scenery was a welcome one.
As Amelia is on the ferry to get to Asher Falls she thinks she sees something in the water, well a ghost to be exact. As she is leaning over the ferry trying to find her ghost she startled by the mysteriously dark Thane Asher and learns that when the town flooded the old cemetery along with half the town went under water where they all still reside today. Because of the flood the town became somewhat of a ghost town (no pun intended) and local residents claim that at night you can hear the ghosts ringing the bells attached to their coffins (as was the custom back then to do if the person was buried alive by mistake).
From the moment Amelia sets foot in the town something seems off about it and the residents. There is already a creepiness and air of mystery after just reading the first few chapters and I could already tell that this book was going to be even better than the first one.
Everything in the place is different, the air the trees, the ghosts, they are connecting with Amelia like she has never experienced before and she is scared not to mention worried about what that all means.
There is said to be a thin place located in the falls, a place that is thinnest between the world of living and the dead. Could that be the reason for all the strange occurrences, all the strange people and sightings and noise?
This book is such a journey for Amelia, she finds out so much about her life her family and who she is not to mention about the town and all of its secrets.
This book is definitely more creepy than the last one and while Devlin didn't play a role in this book he was never far from Amelia's mind.
We do meet some new and very interesting characters that play a huge role in Amelia's life and I think we will see more of them in the future.
I don't want to give anything away other than to say that this sequel was everything I wanted and them some. It was fabulous and I am so excited to read the next book, after the cliffhanger ending I can't wait to see what happens next!...more

I wasn't sure what to expect and really didn't expect a whole lot of action in a short story but I was wrong, this story was chocked full of action and mystery and just down right good ghostly fun.
This was a fabulous prequel. I really enjoyed reading about Rachel and the Order, Kit and Janus and well as the evil Mr. Grey and of course no one could forget the wraiths. I am so intrigued with exactly what powers or abilities Rachel may have that she doesn't know about. Why there are people out there that want her.
I can tell that this will be a really fun series to start and I completely plan on buying the first book when it comes out.
This prequel will suck you into Rachel's world and leave you wanting more.
If the author can make me this excited over a series with just a short story then I can't wait to see what the first book will hold!
I truly hope I won't be disappointed but something tells me that I will have nothing to worry about and that the first book will live up to my expectations....more

Even though some of the reviews were less than stellar I really wanted to read this book and truly I am glad that I gave it a chance.
No it isn't any great piece of literally art nor will it ever be but it was a really cute read that I really enjoyed.
It was a little like realistic YA fiction meets paranormal. There was that slight paranormal edge to it that kept me reading to try and find out exactly what Pilot's mystery was and the mystery of the house that Sabrina was staying in.
Plus, I admit, I really wanted to see if the girl got the guy in the end. I really liked all the characters in this story, Antonio, her aunt Ellie, Pilot, heck even the dogs personalities were great.
This truly was a sweet story that was a super fast read. I think anyone that likes Sara Dressen (with a slight paranormal edge to it) would enjoy this book too.
It was a little rough in areas and lacked a little in the descriptive areas but overall I would give this 3.5 to 4 stars. ...more

I absolutely loved the first book and couldn't wait to start the second one. I missed reading about Riley and Ian and even creepy Laria and then of course there was Kade, who I really wanted to get to know better, especially with Ian gone.
Templeton did not disappoint with this sequel. It was amazing and if possible, was even better than the first book.
Not only did we get to know Kade (who I absolutely LOVE by the way) and his family but we get to meet his cousin Maddison who, can also see and hear ghosts and she is just edgy and awesome in her own little way. I just loved her character and really really hope that we will get to see more of her in the next book.
I loved Shane even more in this book and his protectiveness of Riley. Miss A was great as always. Megan, Cait and Cassandra were great as well and I am so glad that they are all there for Riley and forming the kind of friendship that she really needs right now with Ian gone and Laria as determined as ever to hurt her and the ones she loves.
And Laria? Well she was even more creepy in this book with even more haunting moments of pure evilness and this time, she has some help.
There are some new characters that come in ghostly forms that I just loved as well. I really hope we get to know them even better in the next book as well.
This story had a lot more twists and turns that I didn't see coming and was just fantastic.
I love how even though this is a paranormal story the characters and situations feel so real.
Templeton has proven once again what a fabulous writer she is and she has a fan for life in me. I plan on reading everything I can from her and highly recommend this series. It is a great creepy fun kind of read with just enough mystery and intrigue, not to mention romance to keep you wanting more.
Truly this review does not do this series justice. It is a fabulous series and anyone that enjoys a good ghost story, some paranormal romance and some good ole fashioned mystery MUST try this series. You will not be disappointed....more

I can't even really wrap my mind around all that happened in this book in such a short amount of time. It honestly left me reeling a bit.
It left me wondering what was fact and what was fiction and just sometimes scratching my head wondering what in the world was going on (in a good way though!).
It could be a bit confusing at times but I believe that was actually part of the plot as well. It left me clueless as to what the outcome (if any) of the boys lives was going to be and sometimes even wondering if this all wasn't just some made up fantasy land like Neverland itself.
Truly this was a fun interesting read that I really did enjoy even if it was something that I normally probably wouldn't have picked up on my own.

If you have read Delirium then you must read Hana. It is a great addition to the series. It has its own little twists and turns and moments that make you want to cry and laugh and through your e reader right across the room.
This novella is genus.
It tells Hana's story through Delirium. Where she was and what she was doing while Lena is with Alex and on her own little journey. It even answers some questions that I didn't even know I had.

I think because so much happened that affected the world today. So much was discovered, so many cities and towns were built. So many things we invented that changed the world around us then that still effect us today. I also happen to love the paranormal as is evident in my reading habits. So I knew that combining the 1800's era along with a paranormal element was going to be something great. Even better, throw in a notorious murderer that was never caught in a country that I also adore reading about, where some of my most favorite authors were born and made and I was super excited to read this book.
Okay, most people probably aren't fascinated with Jack the Ripper and while I wasn't fascinated with him, I mean come on he was a murderer, I was curious about the murders. What the city must have been like then. The fear and terror that the people must have felt. The frustration of the Scotland Yard to not be able to stop him or even catch him. I mean what kind of man does things like that? What must he be like? How tortured of a soul he must have been. Really I shudder to think about it. The murders were horrific. The crime unthinkable.
I admit, I had to know more. So before starting this book, I did a little research. I wasn't sure how much fact would be in the story and how much of it would be just a story, a paranormal story at that so, I did what I do best. I went online and Googled it. And I will confess, there was a lot I didn't know about the murders. Details that I probably didn't really care to know and really could have lived without knowing if I am being completely honest. But it was good, because I felt like I knew more and armed with all this new information I set out to read what promised to be a very fascinating book.
I was hooked from the first page.
Not because it went right into the story of Jack the Ripper, no, no, nothing like that. I was hooked because the writing was just that good. It drew me in and I felt like I was transported back into that time. Back into that world. The dirty streets of London, the smog, the smells, the colors. I was there. I saw it all through the eyes of Abbie. I knew the people around her. I saw the carriages and buildings and carts. I saw smoke billowing from the factories and heard the noises from the crowd and clip clop of the horses hooves on the pavement. It was enchanting.
And the story just got better from there as we learned about Abbie. About her mother and grandmother. As their mysteries unfolded and Abbie became immersed into the world of the East End and the residents and doctors of the famous WhiteChapel Hospital. As she became a volunteer and worked along side the people. As she got to meet and know the prostitutes that would later become victims to the Ripper.
As the mystery of the Ripper began to unfold and new ones were created.
This story was amazing. There was so much detail, so many facts that were really part of the actual cases and victims that I was amazed because even though parts of this story really happened, this was still a beautifully crafted story that was just that, fiction.
Reeves did a beautiful job bringing together the two worlds and creating something that was outstanding. It was truly hard to put this story down and not read it all at once. I wanted the story to last forever as I turned that pages trying to guess who the Ripper was and trying to learn more about Abbie and her life.
I really really hope there will be a sequel down the road. The author kind of left it open for more and I truly hope it does happen. I know I for one, will be in line waiting for it if there ever is one.

Thorn's also a psychic like Sabine from the Seer series, only instead of seeing ghosts she is a Finder. She has the ability to locate missing items or people by touching something that belonged to them and seeing visions of where they are.
I really enjoyed learning more about Thorn, she was a fabulous secondary character in the Seer series and I am so excited that we will be getting to know more about her. I love her character. How good she is and loyal and just wants to do the right thing.
I really enjoyed reading about her new home and friends and even getting to know the Grin Reaper, yes you read that right, the Grin Reaper.

In fact it was one of my favorite reads from last year so I knew that after finishing that book I would read just about anything else that she choose to write in the future. Which is why I was so excited when I saw this release.
Once again Patrick wows us with something completely unique and different in the YA genre and she manages to make it unbelievable and believable all in one go.
She once again creates characters that are completely relateable and loveable and gives us a plot that will keep you guessing until the very end.
While this one lacked a little bit of the action that I was hoping for and could be a little slow at times, this was still a great read that I devoured in one sitting.
My only complaint is that the ending could of had just a little more to it. I think this very easily could have turned into a sequel and still have been a fabulous read.
And while I didn't love this one as much as I did Forgotten, it still proves that Patrick knows what she is doing and has some serious talent and will always be on my list of authors that are must reads.
Do you ever have those books that after you get done reading them, even hours after you get done reading them, you still have a hard time thinking of Do you ever have those books that after you get done reading them, even hours after you get done reading them, you still have a hard time thinking of something to say about them?
It isn't that the book was bad or awful, more than you are still kind of lost in the book. You are still thinking about it but it was so interesting and different that you just don't know how to describe everything that is going through you. All the thoughts and feelings you have about said book?
Well, Life is But A Dream is that book for me.
Truly, I am sitting here hours after I have finished it and I still can't quite grasp the words I want to say to convey how great this read was.
It was tragic and sad but eye opening and just....gah! I don't know how to say it all.
This review will not do the book justice and that just makes me a little bit sad.
This book was beautifully written and actually reminded me a little of the movie Crazy Love.
I honestly wasn't sure at first if Sabrina was crazy or just smarter and more insightful than the rest of us there for a little while.
I love that it wasn't exactly clear which was the case. Who was crazy, who wasn't and who maybe was just really lost and lonely and confused in this great big world of ours.
And while I don't want to give anything away, I was very happy with the way this book turned out and with the insight that was brought into it with Sabrina and Alec’s character.
My heart goes out to them both having to live with the things that they did and saw and knew.
My heart aches with their struggles but it also rejoices in their strength and courage to go forward and face some really hard things in their lives and to become better and to really let reality in...in a good healthy way.
This book was brilliant really, from the characters to the story line to the growth of the characters, everything. And while it wasn't something that I normally read because lets face it, this book covers some really hard issues that some people really are dealing with and struggling with, it great to read it and get that insight and to better understand maybe what they are going through and how hard it is for them, each and every day. ...more

I am having such a hard time reviewing this book because while I liked it and did enjoy reading it and really, I loved Kyle's character, there was just a lot wrong with it.
Too many repeated references. Too many contradictions for my liking and just really not enough communication between Rain and Kyle. It was a little frustrating and made the book seem way longer than I think it really needed to be. Things sort of dragged out at times.
It was a good read though. It was different and the characters were nice, I just, I don't know. I didn't feel that love or connection I usually do with one of Mark's stories which honestly made me a little sad because I was really looking forward to reading a full length novel from her instead of the shorter stories of hers I have read so far.
I guess maybe I feel a little disappointed? Not sure exactly what it is I am feeling. This book just didn't do it for me. ...more

It isn't even anything completely unique but yet it drew me in nonetheless.
The storyline for this one is different too, a paparazzi (and a young one at that) that falls in love with the object of her work. It kind of made me wonder actually, has this ever happened before? Are there people out there, other than stalker of course, who fall in love with the stars they are shooting pictures of? Interesting thought huh?
I can't say I felt any real connection with the main character Jo while reading this story. I couldn't even really say that at times I liked her. Her character was, well maybe just different. She had all these internal struggles with what she wanted and needed to do and what she knew was right and what was wrong and sometimes that got to be a little tiresome. I really just wanted her to make a decision already and stick with it, good or bad.
I know nothing in life is ever that simple though and it certainly wasn't in this book either. There were factors that she had to consider not only with her life but with Ned's as well and I have to say, I really do like where her choices took her. What she decided was important and right in the end.
There were even some twists and turns I happily didn't see happening along the way.
Overall I think this was a really fun read and a great first book. ...more

It sums up so much in one word, Hudson's life, her dreams, her family, the town she is from. Really it was the perfect title.
I couldn't help falling in love with Hudson, Bug, Dani, Will and Josh. There were so darn loveable, each in their own unique way.
I wanted Bug for a little brother so much and a best friend like Dani, I mean who wouldn't. They had to be two of the best secondary characters ever.
And Will and Josh? Both so great and drool worthy in their own little ways, heck the whole hockey team had their own drool worthy moments, each and every last one of them.
This book makes you want to be a part of it all. The dreams, the hopes, first love and first kisses, heck, it makes you want to even be a part of the town and the little diner itself.
Hudson was a great character, I would even go as far to say that she is one of my favorite characters I have read in awhile. There was just something so real about her that you couldn't help but feel for her, want to help her realize her dreams and help to make them come true. Heck, I wanted to even push her in the right direction at times and help her open her eyes and see what she did have (as strange as that may sound to some).
This really was a sweet story of realizing ones dreams and giving it your all to achieve them and never letting them go.
