However, while investigating something that should have been easy enough for her to reconnoiter without someone discovering her identity, she stumbles across something that could make her a target. Luckily, she has Sargeant Matt Connors to watch her back after someone tries to end her life -- not once but twice. Will Matt be able to keep her safe or will the pair lose their shot at happy ever after?
If you've never read anything by Ms. O'Fallon before, this book would be an absolutely brilliant one to start with, as it takes readers on a memorizing suspense-filled journey almost right from the beginning and just keeps getting more entertaining with everything the main characters go through on their journey to happy ever after. Really, the way this story started introduces the main characters superbly and had me reading quickly, determined to discover how much danger the heroine faces because of what she learns. Will the hero be able to keep her safe?
As for the dialogue, it was highly entertaining and had me loving the danger these two face, as they don't know who they can trust besides the secondary characters that Matt has really tight friendships with. Moreover, throughout this story the heroine continually surprised me with her grit and determination and I liked that she wasn't afraid to call the hero out, especially when it came to his past and the fact that he finally needs to face it to be able to heal in hopes they can have a future together. I also liked the growing friendships she had with the secondary characters in Matt's friends, as they're just as protective of her as Matt is. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was her determination to do her job no matter how much danger she places herself in. What information will she discover that anyone would do anything to keep buried?
While the hero, he's absolutely brilliant and I loved him from the moment he was introduced. He's confident in his skills as an K-9 officer and I liked the tight relationship he has with his dog; a dog that knows all the tricks to get its way (well, at least with the heroine once she faces her fear). I also liked how protective the hero was of the heroine and that he would do anything to keep her safe. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was the decisions he makes in order to have a chance at forever with the heroine. Will he be able to face his past and finally be absolved of the guilt he's felt for years?
Overall, Ms. O'Fallon has delivered a fantastic and unputdownable read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was powerful; the romance was hot and had me loving how determined Matt is to take care of Trista because she doesn't have much experience with men; and the ending had me loving the lengths the hero was willing to go to for the heroine when they finally face off against the bad guys. However, it was how determined the hero was to make things right with the heroine that I loved most about the ending. Really, it was heart-warming and had me crying happy tears, especially combined with what Matt does in the epilogue in order to show the heroine he wants forever with her. I would recommend Lock 'n' Load by Tee O'Fallon, if you enjoy romantic suspense, the opposites attract trope, the sexy protector trope, or books by authors Laura Griffin, Katie Reus, Katie Ruggle and Piper J. Drake.

However, now he's returning home to Prickle Creek as promised to help out on the family farm. Luckily, he runs into Isabella Romano who needs his help to escape an uncomfortable situation. Yet, she's only in town for six weeks and Sebastian is planning to stay. Will Sebastian be able to convince Isabella that they're good together or will they let their chance at happy ever after slip away?
I have really enjoyed the other books of this series and have been looking forward to Sebastian's story and I've got to say that Ms. Seaton does not disappoint. Really, right from the beginning, I was hooked because I couldn't help but sympathize with the hero, as his career is important to him and going home is something he isn't looking forward to because he's never felt like he fits in at the farm, even though he has a really close relationship with his cousins. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine meet that had me smiling, as the heroine desperately needs him. Why can't some men take a hint?
With the dialogue, it was riveting and had me loving the growing relationship between this couple, as they have so many obstacles to overcome to be together. Will the heroine give up her dreams to be with Sebastian? Will Sebastian go back on his promise to stay at Prickle Creek? Moreover, I really liked both the main characters, as the heroine has done everything she can to achieve her dreams, which is proven by what she's accomplished. I also liked her independence and how resilient she is when it comes to getting her dad to stop being so stubborn. Will she convince her dad to do the right thing when it comes to his relationship with her mom? Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was that she didn't allow anyone to influence her decisions, no matter how much the secondary characters pushed her to decide to stay. No way could she give up everything she's worked so hard for.
While the hero, he's accomplished so much and it made me feel sorry for him that he had to come back to Prickle Creek because of the promise he made to his family. However, in saying that, I liked that being in Prickle Creek opened up some brilliant possibilities when it came to his career as a photographer because there's no way he could give up on taking pictures. It's in his blood and he's so good at it. I also liked the hero's confidence, how determined he is to do what's right by his family and how determined he was to win the heroine over. Will he be able to do right by everyone, especially when he wants a future with Isabella?
Overall, Ms. Seaton has delivered a splendid read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was heady and intense from the moment they meet; the romance was on the sweet side, but had me loving this couple together; and the ending was heartwarming, as the hero can't let the heroine get away. She means too much to him to let her go. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as these two are living the dream and I was so glad that Sebastian's family approved. I would recommend His Outback Temptation by Annie Seaton, if you enjoy the friends to lovers trope or books by authors Margaret Way, Fiona McArthur, Fleur McDonald and Nicki Edwards.

Ethan is always cleaning up his twin brother's messes, but this time swapping places with his twin brother might actually be worth the trouble. Going Ethan is always cleaning up his twin brother's messes, but this time swapping places with his twin brother might actually be worth the trouble. Going on a road trip with his twin's girlfriend, Gwen, is the best time of his life, but when she discovers the truth of his and Evan's deception, will she be able to forgive him or will they lose their shot at happy ever after?
I love sitting down to read a book penned by Ms. Madsen, as she creates such wonderful reads and this is one of her best books yet. Really, the main characters were incredible, the fun plot was spellbinding from start to finish and made this story unputdownable; and the humor-filled dialogue had me smiling or laughing. The way this story started drew me in immediately, and had me loving Ethan right away. He's a good brother and I could understand why he's always cleaning up his twin brother's messes because Evan seems like a bit of a selfish jerk at times. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where this story really takes off, as it had me reading quickly, determined to discover whether Ethan could pull off being his brother enough that Gwen wouldn't get suspicious.
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, as Gwen has serious trust issues because of what happened in her last relationship. Will Ethan be able to win her over and prove that he's someone she can trust? Will Gwen be able to trust Ethan again after she discovers the truth of his deception? However, the dialogue wasn't all intense. Really, there was plenty of playful banter that had me loving the off-the-charts chemistry these two shared.
With the heroine, she's resilient, courageous and I could understand why she needs backup to go home and face everyone after things that happened in her past. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine is that the hero's twin brother's description of her so rings true. She does remind me of a hurricane -- the human variety -- in the way she's always spinning words and has too much energy, especially in the moment when she and the hero first meet or once caffeine enters the mix. While the hero, I couldn't help but sympathize with him, as lying to the heroine isn't easy because he really likes her and doesn't want to hurt her. Will he be able to make things right when the time comes? Furthermore, I enjoyed the hero's confident attitude, his determination to show the heroine a great time on their adventure and the promising future he has that he's worked so hard for. Too bad his brother doesn't have the same attitude when it comes to hard work and being responsible.
Overall, Ms. Madsen has delivered an absolutely captivating and well-written tale in this book where the romance was nicely-detailed, even if it did take a while for this couple's relationship to go from platonic to physical intimacy; and the ending had me loving the hero's determination to win back the heroine because his efforts are endearing and shows that no boyfriend will ever know her as well as he does. Will Gwen be able to put her trust in Ethan again? However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as Ethan and Gwen are so happy together. I would recommend Counterfeit Boyfriend by Cindi Madsen, if you enjoy the mistaken identity trope, a story about a brother doing a favor for his twin brother by switching places or books by authors Melanie Shawn, Samantha Towle, Lila Monroe and Naima Simone.

However, she never imagined she'd fall in love with the man. Will their fake engagement become one for real or will they both walk away from their shot at happy ever after?
Being a romance reader that much prefers stories be told in the third person, I think Ms. Williams did a marvellous with this historical romance, even though it's told in the first person from the heroine's point-of-view. Really, the characters were fascinating and often butted heads with the heroine being quite independent and fierce while the hero is determined to look out for her and protect her because she certainly doesn't put enough stock in her own protection, even if it does seem she can take care of herself.
As for the dialogue, it was very entertaining, as this is a story encompasses the friends to lovers and fake relationship tropes. Will Edwin be able to win Mary's heart? Will they realize how in love they are with each other before it's too late? Moreover, I really enjoyed both the main characters. The heroine is resilient, courageous, has a heart of gold in the way she always wants to do something to help others whether it be humans or animals; and I liked how determined she was to win the challenge the hero proposed. Can she play the hero's lovesick fiancé for two weeks? I also liked how she made good friends with some of the secondary characters, even though it felt wrong to be deceiving her new friends.
While the hero, he's confident, is used to getting his own way and I liked how he pushes the heroine's buttons just as much as he pushes hers. I also liked how protective he was of the heroine and how determined he was to win her over because he needs her just as much as she needs him. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was how much of a challenge the heroine was because she's so independent and isn't about to let any man dictate what she can and can't do. Will she realize that all the hero is trying to do is protect her?
Overall, Ms. Williams has delivered a really god read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong and heady from the moment they come face-to-face for the first time; the romance shows how good these two are together; and the ending had me loving that these two didn't give up on each other because they're meant to be together. I would recommend How to Fall for the Wrong Man by Harmony Williams, if you enjoy Historical Romances, the friends to lovers trope, the fake relationship trope, or books by authors Eva Devon, Darcy Burke, Jess Michaels and Callie Hutton. ...more
Her divorce should have put her off men forever, but somehow Jameson O'Halloran finds herself deeply attracted to her ex brother-in-law, Scott Clarke,Her divorce should have put her off men forever, but somehow Jameson O'Halloran finds herself deeply attracted to her ex brother-in-law, Scott Clarke, when he comes back to town after his father suffers a stroke. Unfortunately, Jameson and Scott know nothing can come of their attraction, especially when family secrets and the fact that she was once married to his brother are reasons enough to keep away from each other. Will Scott and Jameson fight for their shot at happy ever after or does too much stand in their way of being together?
Having absolutely loved the first book of this series, I couldn't wait to read more about the O'Halloran sisters and the town they live in, as it's quirky and charming, and I've got to say that I loved this book every bit as much as the first. Really, the main characters were incredible, and the dialogue was highly entertaining due to the main characters back stories and everything these two go through on their journey to happy ever after because they have huge obstacles to overcome to be together. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where things really come alive, as there's plenty of chemistry between this couple, and yet, any relationship between them seems impossible.
As for the dialogue, it was a wonderful combination of intense moments due to the main characters back stories and playful banter that had me loving this couple's growing relationship, especially the moment where Jameson says things in a moment when she has a rather say-what's-on-your-mind reaction while under the influence. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous, is a good mother and I liked the close bond she shares with her sisters, even though it seems she goes a little overboard when it comes to being protective of her younger sister. I also liked how the secondary characters helped bring the hero and heroine together since her ex is an absolute piece of work that didn't deserve such a wonderful person as Jameson in his life.
While the hero, family secrets have kept him on the run for years, and I liked how determined he was to learn the truth no matter how painful the truth might be to learn. He's also confident, kind, caring and I liked the way he took care of Jameson in her time of need. I also liked how determined he was to make things right with his dad, especially after everything that's happened and everything that he learns. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was his determination to win the heroine over, even though the obstacles they face are tough and there are times when it seems they'll never overcome them. Will he be loyal to family or follow his heart?
Overall, Ms. Rico has delivered another fantastic read for this series where the chemistry between this couple was off-the-charts; the romance was on the sweet side; the secondary characters entertained me just as much as the main ones, although the heroine's ex was a total jerk at times; and the ending had me loving what the heroine does to fight for her chance at forever with the hero. Talk about cryptic clues and deliciously good pie! However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up wonderfully, as the heroine knows this time around that Scott is her Mr. Right. I would recommend Mischief and Mayhem by LE Rico, if you enjoy the forbidden romance trope, second chance romances or books by authors Sonya Weiss, Victoria James, Jennifer Hoopes and Jody Holford....more

Now years later, she's surprised by Logan's re-appearance in her life and wants him to get to know their daughter. Unfortunately, they're complete opposites and it's hard for Thea to put her trust in just anyone. Will Logan be able to win Thea's heart and prove he'd do anything for her and their daughter or will both be unwilling to compromise in order to have the happy ever after they both deserve?
This is the second book I've read by Ms. Perry and what another fantastic and captivating story this brilliant author has delivered. Really, right from the beginning, I was hooked because Thea and Logan have such a strong connection in the prologue and it's just as strong when they come face-to-face again for the first time in years. However, it was from the moment of their reunion in the first chapter where things get interesting, as Thea's life is turned upside down. How is she going to be able to face Logan when she's hidden something so important from him?
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, especially that of the heroine because she hasn't had the easiest life, but she's managed to work hard to get to where she is in her life and I could understand why she was determined to make sure nothing drastic changed for her. Moreover, the heroine is strong, brave and I liked how determined she was to help Logan get to know his daughter, even though it wasn't easy for her to let someone in. I also liked that she wasn't afraid to speak her mind, especially if it came to anything concerning her daughter because Thea is very protective of her girl and won't let anyone hurt her. While the hero, he's confident, hard-working and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over, even though he knows he has his work cut out for him. I also liked the growing relationship he and his daughter share. Will he end up disappointing his daughter? Will Logan be able to win his daughter over? Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was the decisions he makes in order to have Thea and their daughter in his life.
Overall, Ms. Perry has delivered a superb read in this book where emotions run high because Logan and Thea are total opposites and the heroine can't see herself ever fitting in with Logan's world; the chemistry between this couple was powerful and had me loving these two together; the sizzling romance brought plenty of heat to this story; and the ending had me worried for one of the main characters because of what's going on, but had me loving what the hero does to have Thea and his daughter in his life. No way could he let the heroine get away. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, as the hero and heroine have come so far in their relationship and have so much more to look forward to. I would recommend Tattered by Devney Perry, if you enjoy second chance romances, the opposites attract trope or books by authors Kelly Elliott, Melanie Harlow, Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. ...more

But when she finds herself with a houseguest who is good with his hands and knows his way around a hammer, things begin to progress. Yet, Seth has secrets and Bobbie doesn't trust easily. Will he be able to convince Bobbie to take a chance on him or will they walk away from their shot at happy ever after?
Although I haven't read the previous two books of this series, I found this book could easily be read as a stand-alone. Really, and right from the beginning, this story drew me in, as the heroine is determined to go things alone, but she needs a night of fun. Just one night to let her hair down with a man that she'll - hopefully - never have to see again. Will things work out the way she's hoping? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time that I absolutely loved, as there's plenty of chemistry between Bobbie Jo and Seth, which had me wondering what would happen between them.
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, as the father of the heroine's child is an absolute jerk that has put her through a lot and is still putting her through a lot while the hero has secrets that could end up getting people he cares about hurt. Moreover, the heroine is feisty, resilient, courageous and I liked how determined she was to keep things platonic with the hero, and yet, he's hard to resist. I also liked how good of a mom she is and that she would do anything to protect her son, especially when it comes to the battle she faces with her child's father. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was the close friendships she has with several of the secondary characters that would do anything for her.
While the hero, he has secrets that could come back to bite him and it seems that the past will always have a hold on him. Will he be able to keep Bobbie Jo and her son safe? Furthermore, the hero is confident, cocky and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over, even though there's a chance he could hurt her because he's a drifter and incapable of staying in one place for too long. I also liked how protective he is of the heroine and that he would do anything to keep her and her son safe. Including making sure her son's father doesn't make any more trouble for the heroine than he already has.
Overall, Ms. Bliss has delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was powerful; the scorching romance heats up the pages with plenty of heat and passion; and the ending had me loving the lengths the hero would go to in order to keep the heroine safe, even if it means he could lose the heroine's trust in him. Yet, in saying that, I liked how things worked out for the best for these two, as Seth isn't about to let Bobbie Jo get away. He wants the heroine and her son in his life forever and isn't above proving that with his heartwarming words. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up wonderfully, as the hero and heroine have come so far in their relationship and have so much to be happy for, especially since Seth got his wish. I would recommend Law of Attraction by Alison Bliss, if you enjoy the mysterious strangers trope, the sexy protector trope or books by authors Rachel Higginson, Tee O'Fallon, Scarlett Cole and Layla Hagen....more

Luckily, Everett Hetherington, the new earl of Westbury is looking for a wife; someone with enough money to wipe the family debts. Will Everett be able to convince Grace that their marriage of convenience is so much more or will the pair go their separate ways once the terms they've set for the marriage are fulfilled?
What an utterly fantastic, fast-paced, captivating read Ms. Pendle has delivered in this story where the main characters were fascinating due to their back stories, as Grace will do anything to get her brother back while the hero needs Grace in order to wipe the family debts and save the family estate; the compelling dialogue drew me in from the very beginning and had me loving this couple's growing relationship; and the obstacles these two face to be together had me wondering whether they would be able to overcome them. Will Grace and Everett take a chance on each other?
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, as Everett is an honorable man and determined to pay the family debts, even though the debts belong to his deceased brother while the heroine can't believe what a mess her late father has made. Why wasn't Grace made her brother's guardian? Moreover, the heroine was strong, determined to fight for her independence and I liked how she did her best to resist the hero because she has plans for her life that don't include staying with Everett. I also liked how far she was willing to go to help her brother because she's not about to let him stay in the situation he's in now.
While the hero, he's confident, charming and I liked how far he's willing to go to get the heroine to stay because he needs more from her than what they've agreed to. Will he be able to win Grace over? I also liked how far he's willing to go to help the heroine get her brother back. Will he find a way to help Grace? Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was his determination to fight for his relationship with Grace because she comes to mean so much to him.
Overall, Ms. Pendle has delivered a wonderful debut novel in this historical romance where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance was delightful and had me liking that the heroine took a chance on the hero; and the ending had me loving what the hero does for the heroine because it shows that he will do anything for her. Then again, she's everything he wants in his life, so why wouldn't he do everything in his power to prove his love. I would recommend Six Weeks with a Lord by Eve Pendle, if you enjoy Historical Romance, the marriage of convenience trope or books by authors Sarah MacLean, Maggie Dallen, Tina Gabrielle and Harmony Williams....more
Losing the love of his life wasn't easy for Chance Palmer, but now he's ready to find love again. However, first he needs to convince Michaela 'Mike' Losing the love of his life wasn't easy for Chance Palmer, but now he's ready to find love again. However, first he needs to convince Michaela 'Mike' Grayson that building a resort in Kings Grove would be a fantastic idea. Will Chance be able to convince Michaela to take a chance on him both personally and professionally or will the wounds of their pasts keep them from ever getting another chance at forever?
Ms. Stewart's Kings Grove series is such a wonderful series, and this story was a fantastic addition to it. Really, everything about it -- the charismatic characters; the entertaining dialogue and the fast-paced plot -- drew me in and had me turning the pages quickly, determined to discover what obstacles these two would face to be together. Would Chance be able to win Michaela over, especially since she's been through so much with what happened in her last relationship?
The way this story had me smiling because the hero is a good brother and I loved the teasing banter between Chance and his brother that shows they're close. Yet, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time in this story where things get really interesting, as there's a slight misunderstanding between the pair, but I liked how hard the hero works to convince the heroine that Kings Grove is the right place to build one of the resorts for the company she works for.
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, especially that of the heroine, as she's been through so much with what her ex put her through in the past and is still putting her through now. Yet, she's resilient, courageous, a good mother and I liked how determined she was to prove herself when it came to her job. I also like the decisions she makes throughout this story, even though her ex didn't make things easy for her. While the hero, he's been through so much too, and to give his heart to another woman is something he never thought he'd do. Not when he was so in love with the last woman he was with and then lost. I also liked how he's managed to move forward with his life. He's full of confidence, charm and I liked how determined he was to win Michaela over because she's the first woman that's interested him since he lost the woman he loved. Yet, what I liked most of all was the growing bond between the hero and the heroine's son. It was adorable because the little boy needs someone like Chance. Someone that treats him like a kid and doesn't get frustrated with him like someone else in the kid's life.
Overall, Ms. Stewart has delivered a delightful and charming read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance was delightful and had me glad that Michaela took a chance on the hero; and the ending had me loving the hero's determination to win the heroine's heart. Then again, I also liked the decision the heroine made in order to show Chance that she wants a life with him. It was time she started doing things that she wanted and were good for her and her son and not accommodate to what everyone else wanted of her. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up wonderfully, as the hero wants the heroine forever and isn't above using a very public gathering to get what he wants. I would recommend Love Redefined by Delancey Stewart, if you enjoy second chance romances or books by authors Bella Andre, Susan Mallery, Jill Shalvis and Melody Grace....more

So, when Dani LaSalle becomes a target of the people he's determined to take down and put a permanent end to, he decides to risk everything to keep her safe. Will Luke be able to protect Dani and put an end to the people he's after once and for all or will the pair lose their shot at happy ever after?
This is the first book I've read by Ms. McKenna, and although I wished I'd read the previous books of this series, this book can be read as a stand-alone. Really, and everything about this book -- the confident and protective super-soldier hero; the feisty and resilient heroine; the thrilling plot that entertained me with it's action-packed suspense; and the riveting dialogue -- made this story an absolute page turner that I found impossible to put down.
With the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, as both have been through tough times. Their childhoods weren't the easiest, but I liked how they've come out the tougher for everything they've been through. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous, has serious trust issues and I could understand why she makes the decisions she does, even if they are reckless. Will she be able to put her trust in Luke? Will she help him with anything he asks of her, especially when she owes him so much? While the hero, he's confident and I liked how determined he was to protect the heroine, even though it seems he should give up on Dani since she doesn't trust him no matter how many times he proves she can trust him. I also liked how determined he was to get his memories back no matter the risk to him. Will he uncover the things he desperately wants to know?
Overall, Ms. McKenna has delivered an incredible read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was off-the-charts; the sizzling romance heated up the pages and showed how good these two are together; and the ending had me on the edge-of-my-seat with worry for the main characters, but had me liking that the heroine finally realized how much Luke meant to her. I would recommend In My Skin by Shannon McKenna, if you enjoy paranormal romance, romantic suspense or books by authors Lara Adrian, Cara Carnes, Cynthia Eden and Rebecca Zanetti....more

Ian Gamble wishes he could forget his past. Too bad a night of drinking at the Crooked Angel Bar won't make that happen. However, it's just lucky that Ian Gamble wishes he could forget his past. Too bad a night of drinking at the Crooked Angel Bar won't make that happen. However, it's just lucky that he's at the bar when a fire breaks out and he manages to get Kennedy Matthews, the bar's manager out without any problems. Yet, when the investigation is ruled arson, Ian pushes Kennedy to tell him what she's hiding, especially since he knows she's holding something back to do with the investigation. But when he learns the truth, Ian wonders whether he'll be able to protect Kennedy from what's to come because her brother is in way over his head or will they lose their shot at happy ever after because an arsonist will do anything to put a stop to the people trying to take him down?
What do readers get when Ms. Kincaid pens a story encompassing a strong hero tortured by his past and a resilient and feisty heroine determined to do everything she can to help her brother; highly entertaining dialogue that -- at times -- kept this reader on the edge-of-her-seat; and a fast-paced plot that drew this reader in from the very beginning and made it impossible to put this book down? Well, the answer is an utterly satisfying and mesmerizing read where this couple's chemistry is off-the-charts and their scorching romance does their chemistry justice.
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and everything they go through on their journey to happy ever after, as Ian has survivor's guilt due to his time as a marine while Kennedy feels she's let her brother down. Will the pair be able to help her brother? Will Kennedy be able to help Ian heal from his past? Moreover, I loved both the main characters. They were incredible and have such a great support team in the secondary characters who will do anything to take down someone determined to cause so much destruction.
With the heroine, she really impressed me with the way she stands up to Ian when he thinks he knows what's best for her. Certainly, her it's-my-way-or-I-go-it-alone attitude and her determination to help her brother makes things interesting and cause plenty of tension since Ian doesn't like how trusting Kennedy is of her brother. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine is the way she helps Ian to work through his past. Things happen for a reason and what happened wasn't his fault. While the hero, he's been through so much in his past and I couldn't help but sympathize with him, as his parents weren't the best of parents and it's understandable why he joined to the marines as a way to escape. However, everything that's happened in his past has made him the resilient and remarkable man he is. I also liked how determined he was to protect Kennedy, even though she's really good at protecting herself.
Overall, this story was a fantastic read, as too, are the other books of this series. As for the ending, it had me worried for the main characters and was a total shock because of what happens, but I loved how things worked out for Ian and Kennedy as they're so good together and for each other. Deep Down by Kimberly Kincaid will appeal to fans of authors Jennifer Bernard, Kate Meader, Shannon Stacey and Jennifer Blackwood, but in my opinion it's a must read just like the first three books of the series are. ...more

Will Carson and Joss be able to overcome their past demons to get their happy ever after or is it too hard for each of them to ever to put their trust in another person again?
This is only the second book I've read by Ms. Rothert, but I've got to say that I love her style of writing. The words flow seamlessly; the fast-paced plot was enjoyable, the dialogue was entertaining and drew me in from the beginning; as the heroine isn't about to let her ex and his new bouncy girlfriend drive her away from her place of work; and the characters had interesting back stories and tough obstacles to overcome including the hero's jealousy and both their trust issues.
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, as both have been through so much. Will the hero be able to give the heroine everything she wants, especially since he didn't have the best upbringing? Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked that she stands up to her ex who is an absolute pain and needs to understand that the heroine is in a good place in her life. Actually, the best place in her life, especially with Carson in it. I also liked how good of a doctor the heroine is and that she would do anything to help someone in need, even if that someone hasn't been the nicest to her. While the hero, he has doubts on whether he can give the heroine everything she needs, but I liked that the heroine didn't give up on him. I also liked that he was willing to fight for his relationship with the heroine by working through his issues, especially since his past has such a hold on him.
Overall, Ms. Rothert has delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance was nicely-detailed and passionate; and the ending had me loving what the heroine does to help someone in need and had me loving the decision the hero made because he wants the heroine to have everything she wants in life - love, family and happiness. I would recommend Healing Touch by Brenda Rothert, if you enjoy stories by Harper Sloan, Kristen Proby, Kelly Elliott and Devney Perry....more
