you know how books will name drop the title somewhere in the prose?? got me pointing at my kindle going “oh!!! there it is!!!” except this time, when the author title dropped, i GASPED. the first use of the word velvet is when the FMC asks the MMC what she feels like *wink wink* and he audibly says “like velvet.” Oh, but IM NOT DONE! he then proceeds to give her a stupid nickname (as all romance books do nowadays) and guess what it is!!!?? ding ding ding!!!! he calls her fucking VELVET. I wanted to love this book soooo badly. it was really slow to get into, but then it started to pick up and I found it hard to put down. But once I hit about 50%, it started to slow down again and was hard to get through.
both characters were undeveloped imo (and had ugly ass names.. like goll and una? omg). and they both kinda just became obsessed with each other without any good reasoning?? once they got together and accepted they had feelings for each other, the plot kinda slipped and got boring. I know it's a novella, but still, I hate it when the MCs fall for each other right away and we see absolutely zero reason as to why. It's just instant lust. That just usually feels lazy to me and like the author doesn't want to/know how to write chemistry. It also makes it so when the MCs actually get together, it's not very satisfying. Like I did not care at allllllllllllllll.
