...more

--- There are different kinds of horror, Lovecraft wrote about swampy horrors, about noxious things; here the horror is the creepy kind. There are vampires, not the emo ones from Twilight, but vampires covered in blood that attack at night and who need the permission to enter in private places. However the creepy part are not not the vampires, but the Swedish suburbs that worked on young ones who want to escape reality (some by pretending to be somebody else, some by using drugs, some by using violence), couples broken by death or alcohol. It's a landscape full of extreme figures: alcoholics, self-righteous policemen, anxious mothers, evil kids. In this set Eli and Oskar, both alone for different reasons, met and became friends while a killer is hunted from the police for having killed and mutilated a boy and while other dramatic events happen....more

--- The book contains the whole story of the Bone cousins expelled from Boneville, who discover a valley and begin an adventure to bring again peace. I liked the graphic novel for different reason, among which the characters; the Bone with defined nature (the good, the greedy and the smiley one), the village inhabitants, the forest animals, the stupid rat creatures (and their love for quiches) and the dragon. The novel contain moments of absolute fun and more dramatic ones; the drawing is always precise and helps in bringing out the Bone in this new world in which they are guests. I liked a lot the story, the drawings, the comical and the dramatic moments; a must read....more

"The final dream" has a science fictional setting for most of the themes dealt with, however it reflects also various aspect of the actual way of living. During the day people live for their works, unsatisfactory for most of the times, while they spend their perfectly scheduled evenings with their husbands, wives and lovers. Night is for dreams only: men are mostly unable to have happy dreams by themselves, so they please the need of dreaming by subscription services that send happy dreams directly to their brains. Yosif is a particularly appreciated dream artist, but something is changing in its productions. The short novel follows Brian, lawyer of an important corporation, and his wife, both subscribers of Yosif dreams. The novel points out how dreams influence people marriages and working lives. Similar themes can be found in Philip K. Dick novels; there humans need something (drugs or simulation) to avoid their horrific life, here they need to dream happily.
