It was entertaining, sweet and fast paced, a thing that I appreciated at the moment. The story was interesting and flows directly to the point without any unnecessary drama.
Lucas and Gabriel met through a chatroom when they were young and as the blurb says, they became each other lifeline until Gabe stops answering his emails. Five years later, they see each other for the very first time at the bar where Lucas works and things are strained between each other, especially from Lucas who holds a grudge towards Gabe because he feels abandoned by him.
The thing is these kids had some pretty heavy baggage and after they open up to each other, they realize there is more to the story than they let on. One of my few niggles about the story was that Gabe is bipolar, I don't have any problem with him being bipolar, what bugged me the most was the way the authors approach Gabe's illness. I've read books with this illness and I guess I was expecting something a bit more developed, I don't know, I didn't actually feel his illness.
Besides, I felt that the writing lacks energy. It's simple and repetitive that hovered on the edge of being obnoxious.
To not make this longer than necessary, I enjoyed what I read. Do I wish some things worked up in a different way? Yes. This is a story that was so full of potential that IMO the authors didn't know how to exploit. But if I disregard that, I can say that Lucas and Gabe's relationship was sweet, hot and I liked seeing how they brought down each other walls and become friends and then lovers.
I’ll keep it short and simple without giving away much of the plot.
Shane Wallace and Maxwell*4,5 stars*
A kinky, hot and great enemies to lovers story!
I’ll keep it short and simple without giving away much of the plot.
Shane Wallace and Maxwell “Van” Sullivan are two men who had a rough past. Shane used to be bullied by Max’s and his friends in high school. What Shane doesn’t know is that the golden town boy didn’t have it as easy as everyone thought. 12 years later, Max is back to town to help his mom and Shane can’t help but bring bad memories back to life.
Even though Shane is still a bit resentful about what he lived when he was younger, he and Van manage to put that awful past behind them pretty quick and damn, things start to get pretty steamy between these two.
Depth of Field is the type of book I love because it has everything I enjoy: good banter, incredible sex, delicious dirty talk, kinky moments, and the perfect amount of angst. Not everything goes around sex, which is another plus for me. These boys have a great amount of forgiveness to do and resentment to overcome, not only between them but also with the people who are around them.
Their chemistry was just natural and I liked they didn’t panic or regret about fooling around, they just gave into each other desires to have fun and good sex because they just… fit. I liked they’re open to each other, they get to know who they were and who they are, I loved there’s great amount of communication between them! They don’t hold back, they just tell everything that was bugging them to each other to get it out of their system, because unconsciously they support each other despite their previous story and that makes their relationship pretty smooth and easy going until their insecurities come to bite them in the ass (mostly Shane’s).
“I love you. I love you so fucking much it scares me because nothing has the power to hurt me like you do.”
Hart did a great job, I really liked this book. I actually don’t have many complaints, just some grammar mistakes that bug the hell out of me and some cheesy moments but they were purposely cheesy and that made them hilarious.
“How about you take that towel off and come here? I’d like to do you tonight. You be the outlet and I’ll be the plug. We’re electric together, baby.”
Van is such a great character, after some flashbacks, I was surprised to see he turned out to be pretty lay-back and Geez, his passion was what sucked me into the story at the same time as Shane loneliness and ‘what ifs’ just squeezed my heart.
Oooh!! I almost forget to mention the title has something to do with the story. I freaking love when the title means something and it isn’t just random words on the cover!!! Besides, we got such a sweet epilog that was the perfect icing on the cake. I don’t have anything else to say just that I highly recommend this book....more
Wow, this was extremely good! Gale nailed it again. NAILED IT.
I was taken aback by this book. I was expecting some enemies-to-lovers story w*5 stars*
Wow, this was extremely good! Gale nailed it again. NAILED IT.
I was taken aback by this book. I was expecting some enemies-to-lovers story were one of the MC was an asshole deeply hidden in the closet but NO, it wasn’t like that at all. It took a twisted way darker than I’d have imagined. I didn’t know that Gale was going to cover so difficult subjects as emotional and physical abuse, eating disorders or lots of self-loathing and suffering.
(I just noticed that the blurb says that stuff but I don’t usually read it, I like to start a book almost blind, so I wasn’t completely prepared for this but it wasn’t a bad thing because I can take it.)
I was completely prepared to hate Laurent even more because he was an asshole to Isaac in Power Play but my heart just broke into million pieces when I found out why he was like that. He’s a freaking hot mess and, when Isaac finds out why he’s the way he is, he becomes Laurent’s friend, whether he likes it or not. Isaac makes sure to integrate him in the team, he gives him a nickname he won’t hate and he helps him to not be so mean to others. (It’s a defense mechanism that Laurent has been using his entire life so it wasn’t so easy to just turn it off.)
This definitely was a slow burn and I absolutely adore it! It was hard to Laurent at first because he hates being touch but as their attraction grows, he just finds out that Isaac won’t hurt him and he lets everything flow. Isaac is such a sweet little thing. He’s exactly what Laurent needed, though I can tell that Gale loves pairing such different people. I don’t know how she makes it work but these two complement each other the same way Misha and Max do. And the chemistry and connection just feel… right.
I loved seeing Misha and Max again. They are such supportive coaches and Max still is as dummy as always and I giggled a lot with him.
I liked how Gale managed Laurent’s issues, she makes sure to show you there’s no magical cure and that he got lots of hard work to heal. The writing was perfect and even though it was darker than I expected, the banter was always present to light up the moment a bit.
I loved this book and I highly recommend it!...more
Athletes + BDSM + age gap = a Dani very happy. YEY!
Andrews nailed it with this story. I don’t even care that I didn’t understand a shit when4.25 stars
Athletes + BDSM + age gap = a Dani very happy. YEY!
Andrews nailed it with this story. I don’t even care that I didn’t understand a shit when they were talking about baseball (I know, my bad. Not a big fan of baseball.)
If you are not a big fan of baseball either, let me warn you that the first 35% is mostly about that. The beginning is SLOW and after 45% is when the romance starts to pick up. However, that didn’t stop me from enjoying this story.
Andrews wrote beautiful characters in this one. The MCs were splendid. Jake is 35 years old baseball player that is not so eager about baseball anymore… until he’s traded and he starts spending time with Nico. God, those two together are hot and sweet! Jake is super overprotective and he cares so much about Nico’s well-being that melts my heart. Nico has lots of issues but he kinda overcomes them thanks to Jake.
This story involves so much more than just sex and romance. It’s about acceptance. Accepting who you are and accepting those that are around you. Even if you have some retrograde thoughts *cough* Nico’s Dad *cough*. It’s also about healing and reconciling with those you once hurt (because you were being a completely and jealous asshole.)
Jake and Nico’s journey is not easy. There’s angst, guilt and self-loathing. So be prepared.
Finally, I have to say that the writing was fantastic, everything felt so real that it made me enjoy this story so much. Andrews did an awesome job with Nico’s family. I liked their interactions. I adored Val, she was so supportive and sweet and I liked learning more about Nico’s dad.
This is the second book that I read from Andrews and I must say she doesn’t need to write about zombies to do a great job.

This is such emotional story. It contains lots of drama, mental illness, self-harmed scene which may be uncomfortable for some readers.
I was hooked from the very beginning of this book. Theodore is such wonderful character, he’s funny, sexy and he definitely isn’t a fan of one night stands.
He starts working at a Publishing House because that has always been his dream. He accepts the job mostly because he’s a writer himself and he wants to see the process of bringing someone else’s imagination and dreams to life.
“I’m not just a reader or a writer; I inhale written words like they’re my oxygen.”
His POVs were amazing, the way he perceives the world is unique.
“People intrigue me. Life intrigues me. I see a story behind every set of eyes I meet, history in every voice.”
He knows how to see beyond people’s armors. And when he meets James, Theo can see right through him.
James is the CEO in the company where Theo is working, and after a wild Friday night, they didn’t expect to see each other again.
James is beautiful, arrogant, cocky and hides a darkness that threatens to swallow him. That’s why he never lets anyone get close to him. But he can’t help himself with Theo.
“I’ve never allowed myself to become attached. The funny thing is I didn’t allow myself to get attached to Theodore. I was simply powerless to stop it.”
After their rough beginning, they start hanging out together and Theo kinda pushes James to be in a relationship. Even when James doesn’t feel capable of being in one, he does his best for Theo and because James thinks that Theo deserves better he tells him about his illness…
“My mind isn’t fun. It’s dark. Twisted.”
I don’t know what else to say. This story literary WRECKED ME. It isn’t easy to read, it took me time to go through it because I couldn’t stop crying.
I didn't read the blurb, I was completely blind when I got this gem on my precious Kindle. I had a lump in my throat since I found James’s problems. God, it literally broke my heart. I’ve never read about this illness, but Haken did a great job helping me understand a little bit more about it.
I was emotionally connected with these MCs. If they suffered, I’ll suffer too. And trust me, I suffered a lot. They definitely went to hell but they found a way to come back stronger and ready to face new problems.
Obviously it had a HEA, otherwise, you wouldn't be seeing me here. I would have been in a dark corner crying forever and ever.
