I don't think I can write a review for this book without first saying something about the cover, because, lets face it. I love Paul Marron as much as the next girl but this cover was a big miss. He looks like a lost puppy floating in a sea of hot pink. Not so hot.
Now that I got that off my chest, on to the book. I admit I haven't read the previous books in the series, but when given the opportunity to read an ARC for this book I jumped on it to see what the series was all about. I was not completely lost! Even though the world is still complex, I could figure out things pretty quickly.
So not knowing much of Hawke's past, he basically ended up in a spirit trap that had affected his animal side and there is hardly any connection between human and animal anymore, and he is lucky to have come out of that alive.
Now the Feral House, home of all Feral Warriors, is inducting a new Warrior to replace Fox. And he comes with a mate. After knowing Maxim for just about a day, Faith has moved across the world because she feels the pull of a mate bond. Except, shouldn't your mate be the person most suited for you? Maxim is an arrogant ass, has no respect for Faith or her feelings and as the book progresses I couldn't help but just feel disgusted and sickened by him.
Faith and Hawke are perfect for each other, their attraction is immediate, they're both loving and fun to be around. But Faith feels she has to fight the attraction because she's only there to be Maxim's mate. And how will Hawke be able to deal with having the woman he wants living under the same roof and belonging to someone else?
The first half of the book I felt was a bit slow, as most of the plot happened at Feral House and without a lot of action. Once the bigger plot develops, the story flowed much better.
There's plenty of story options from here! I'm excited to go back and read the previous books as well as future books.

So if you know me you know that anything by Megan Hart is an auto-buy for me. Anything she writes I buy, I read and enjoy. This was really no exception. The Harlequin Nocturne Cravings are basically short stories that are not part of a series or even related. This was just a bit darker than I was expecting.
Starts out with a bang! Girls night, bachelorette party, and Celia meets a hunky geologist than rocks her world. Luke is any womans fantasy man. He can make your toe curls even though he's not Mr. Six Pack Abs. After their one night together though he goes to a cave to do research with his team. And he doesn't come out the same.
Throughout the book I wasn't sure if he had just lost his mind truly or he really was attacked by whatever creatures lived in the cave that fed on him for 24 hours. He keeps coming back to Celia on and off whenever it strikes his fancy between going hunting for the creatures of the night. And everytime she lets him back in. It's twisted and sexy at the same time.
The only thing I thought could've been developed better was actually explaining what the hell the creatures were and what they did. I felt there was a lot of fade to black on those aspects. But I was very happy there was no fade to black anytime Celia and Luke got together!
If you are in the mood for something a bit darker but still very sexy then give this short story a try! You won't ever be disappointed with Megan Hart!...more

Yes, go ahead and judge this book by its cover, I know I did and was not disappointed. This book is scorchingly hot romantic suspense!! This was my first book by this author and it left me wanting more!
Natalya Trubachev is a CIA operative working undercover in Russia trying to bring down a human trafficking lord. To do this, she infiltrated the organization along with her partner and now Dmitri is sending her to the States to take care of problems with their human trafficking crew there.
The girl that she's assigned to deliver to them turns out to be her twin sister, so she has to find a way to save her and finish her op.
Enter Brandon Moretti. Sexy-as-hell cop working on the disappearance and murder of local strippers, he is posing as the strip clubs' manager.
Sparks fly from the start between these two. Hot.Hot.Hot! And the suspense plot as well as the twists were excellent. "Bad guy"? It actually took me a bit to suspect the correct person.
Start your new year with some suspense and plenty of heat! This book was really good and I can't wait for the next one!
I want to mention a couple of things before I start getting into the story of this book. I read the revised version that Ms. Briggs re-released in 2011, not the original version of the book. This book is really more fantasy than urban fantasy, so it's good to make the distinction with readers. Now here's what I thought of Masques.
The first thing that I loved was the intro that Ms. Briggs did telling the reader a bit of the story of how she came to work on this book again and re-release it. It does seem like a project that was dear to her heart, as it was her first real book published, and the old issues had become a bit of a treasure to find. For us new Briggs fans it was a nice visit into a completely different world than what I'm used to reading by this author.
I'm not really big on fantasy books but this one had an element of connection that worked really well. Who? Aralorn and Wolf. She's a mercenary and she happens to rescue Wolf from certain death. From that point on they've been emotionally attached and he will go with her and cross her path when she needs him most.
Aralorn is also a shapeshifter and works as a spy as well as a mercenary. She is assigned with spying on a sorcerer. Amidst the spying and the inevitable war, Alanorn and Wolf learn more about each other. I loved their banter and their easy companionship. They felt effortless together.
I did feel the writing was a bit choppy and the scenes changed a bit abruptly at times, but it didn't take away from enjoying the story. I am looking forward to Wolfsbane....more

Funny and witty but also at times a bit dull and slow. The premise of this story was interesting enough, two girls of "society" are supposed to go to a society ball but instead go to a Masquerade party thinking it'll be fun, and yes they lie to their parents. However this Masquerade is more for adult tastes, yes pretty much a kinky fuckery fest.
Regina kinda looses sight of her cousin at the party and manages to meet a gentleman follows him outside and while he thinks she's there to service the men, he says some very provocative things in her virgin ears. They soon realize their mistake and she ends up enlisting his help when she discovers her cousin has been kidnapped.
The masked gentleman turns out to be Robin Blackthorn. He is looked down on society because he is a bastard even though he has the money to buy most of the people that treat him like that. But he is fascinated with Regina, and her attributes. Even though he knows it's foolish and that she should stay away from her because her father would never approve of him courting her, after all she should be fishing for an Earl at least, he can't stay away. And if that means he has to help her find her cousin then so be it.
At the end of the day the human trafficking organization that took her hits a bit close to home, but I had figured that out pretty quickly.
One thing I will tell you I truly enjoyed about this book was the humor and the banter between Puck and Regina. Their personalities truly matched.
I am intrigued about Black Jack. I must find out more about this brother. Is his book next?...more

I've been checking out this series for a while so when I saw this Christmas read for only $0.79 on Kindle I had to jump on it. I've never read this author either so it was the perfect sampler. Now I can't wait to read more.
This historical has some spunk. Violet is no wilting flower. She was in love with her neighbor, Christian, her whole life. Then one night he finally notices her and takes her virginity, only to leave town the next day. From then on, he's been referred to in her mind as The Disappointment.
She's been away from home at Spindle Cove ever since and now that is time to go back home and find a husband she receives a most unexpected guest. A bit unrecognizable, but still her Christian. She's not sure if he's a spy or just working undercover during the war but he's risked everything to come see her and ask her to give him a chance and wait for him.
I thought this was a perfect Christmas time romance, it has some intrigue and some action and the H/h are very likeable. A fast and deliciously enjoyable read!...more

This was a pretty steamy, short shifter story and you know me, I can't resist a sexy shifter. There's just something about that big, drool-worthy, in-charge alpha male that calls to me. And that's exactly what Kade is all about.
Melanie is a bit of a recluse, she's very smart, she has everything she wants in life except a man. And she really doesn't feel like she needs one, but her friends set her up on a blind date and here she is waiting for the guy. Maybe not your typical blind date as it's more a hook-up date, they're meeting at a hotel and they have a room reserved. Hey, can't blame a girl, sometimes that's what you need.
And in comes beautiful Kade, who thought he would just blow off some steam and comes to realize he's standing in front of his mate. Was this a setup by his friends? Did they know? Of course sparks fly immediately and one thing leads to another and leads to some hot action under the covers.
I had a bit of a problem with what happens from this point on because I did not agree with the pack rules about mating and what Kade has to do to keep her, while Melanie was not even sure she wanted to pursue a relationship with him. But other than that this was a very entertaining, even though short, read!...more

Worst case scenario EVER... You have a hot one night stand with a hot guy who rocks your world. You don't even know his last name and he's actually just passing through your city. And then he never calls you again. Fast forward a little bit and you find out you're pregnant. Damn!
This is what happens to our heroine, Kelly, and even though she attempted to find Trey (that's the only thing she had to go by) she was unsuccessful.
Now two years later she has moved to his city and happens to run into him after her bank was robbed and he's the officer that shows up. Chance encounter.
Trey hasn't stopped thinking of her since that night and cursing his luck that the paper with her number was lost. Now that fate brought her back to him AND he finds out he has a kid he decides he's not letting them go. But will that work for Kelly?
I thought this story was really sweet, with enough sizzling chemistry between Kelly and Trey to keep things interesting. They've gone through something pretty crazy but they both felt more for each than just lust from the very first time and now they have a second chance.
Perfect story to curl up with on the couch with a blanket! ...more

My least favorite of the anthology but still sweet and entertaining. Carrie and Austin are high school sweethearts. They grew up in West Virginia in a small town so when Carrie wanted to pursue her dreams of working at a prestigious museum and move to the big city. Austin didn't want to relocate thinking her place was there with him. So they broke up. And Carrie loves him too much to go back home for Christmas, see him, and fall back into bed with him so she decides to stay in the city for the Holidays. But Austin thinks its time she sees where she belongs and opens up a Christmas tree lot outside of her apartment building in the hopes to win her back and bring her back home with him. I didn't like Austin's attitude toward Carrie's work, which was her problem with him. I thought he was a bit of a self-centered ass and it was all about him at the end of the day. Until at the end of the story the light bulb goes on. I still didn't feel how they could make things work....more

Tess was forever changed when she was involved in an accident, and not only because she lost her parents that day. She now has the gift, or curse, to see dead people.
Usually preferring to ignore them until she is faced with Kipp. Not only is he hot as sin, too bad he's a ghost, but he is persistent as well. He was a cop and was killed while being very close to discovering the killer in a cold case about a young girl. With Tess's help, Kipp is able to communicate with his partner and try to finish the investigation.
How he gets her to help? Well, he discovered that just a few dirty words in her ear and he can have her panting. A bit of a bittersweet love affair because they can't touch but a strong connection nonetheless.
This story was sweet and had all the elements of a great read even though it was so short. Some intrigue, some action, some humor and just enough steam to keep me interested. I really liked all the characters, the H/h, the best friends. I am looking forward to reading more of this series.
This story is the reason why I bought this anthology. Yes I know I could've bought just this story, but last year I enjoyed all four novellas in the Christmas anthology that the Kent Brothers # 1 was in sooooo here I am. The Kent brothers are hot general contractors. You gotta love a man that works with his hands *waggle seyebrows*. Much in the same way as his brother in book 1, Wyatt was previously married. But in his case he married the hot popular woman that everyone wanted. And he was the hot young stud all the girls wanted to have. He didn't know that's why she married him and they ended up going through a bad divorce. And now he has to do a job for her little sister. Calliope was a bit chunkier, with frizzy, curly hair from what he remembered; so he was not expecting the knockout that greeted him. And she is nothing like her sister. She's sweet and caring, she runs a childcare business, she's good with kids, people love her. And even though she's much younger than him and he feels he's broken he can't help but to be extremely attracted to her. Like watch-out-the-room-is-on-fire attracted to her. I have a special place in my heart for the Kent brothers so I LOVED this story and can't wait for the next one to fall! But this one.... droolworthy!...more

If you are looking for some heat this holiday season then this short story will warm you up. What could be the worst thing to do at the company Christmas party? Go home with the boss. But heck, Angela knows she's good and she can find another job and Ryan is utterly delicious. But when she agreed to go home with him she wasn't expecting that he'd have his best friend there.
Of course Ryan didn't expect it either. Wade is ruggedly handsome, a cowboy. Ryan is sophisticated model good looking. I mean... what more can a girl ask for Christmas? I'd say she was a good girl this year!
Ryan has never had a problem sharing women with Wade in the past but something about Angie wakes every possessive instinctive.
This story is short and it is an erotica story so there's a lot of sex and not a lot of the actual storyline so if you're looking for something hot then this will be for you....more

If you are looking for something sinful to fill a short gap then look no further than list little gem. This short story is as hot as they get.
What more can a girl ask for than after a divorce and going to her high school reunion she gets hit on by the hot stud that used to be the football quarterback? Ohhh I know! You could get him plus his best friend who is now an NFL star!
Trigger and Kailey were neighbors growing up and he's always had a crush on the smart guy but felt intimidated. His best friend since forever, Bullet, has always had a thing for him and now wants to share in the beautiful woman that has captivated the heart of the only friend he's ever had.
But let me tell you, there's nothing wrong or less hot when she's with just one of these hot guys, but as the title gives away, some times the more the merrier.
The story, even though short, was very well written, touching on enough of the characters that I felt that I knew them and cared about what happened.
This is a permanent menage story and it does have just a small touch of m/m (very minor) so that goes as a warning. But it's wickedly hot! ...more

Who doesn't want to get a piece of a hot and successful NFL quarterback? Well there is one girl that doesn't want anything from Jaime Dalton, his childhood nemesis Cass Pendleton.
When Jaime finds himself looking for a personal assistant to help him keep his life in order, the perfect choice falls on his lap. Turns out Cass has been unemployed for a while and who better to come to her rescue than him? He knows he should be safe with her, I mean, no way would she have any interest in him or his money. And he could never be attracted to Cass, right? Right?
Except I've always said there's something behind those kids that fight so much growing up, and when these two are left alone in a beautiful mansion in Miami they discover things about each other they never thought would be true about themselves.
Turns out proper Ms. Pendleton likes to be spanked and told what to do. Who would've thought! And by Jaime Dalton. He's sleek, he's sexy, he's predatory.
Of course we have to throw in a bit of suspense and drama to the mix when photos of their sexcapades go public and his reputation takes a hit.
The story was light even though it deals with BDSM but it was entertaining, even if the heroine was a bit over dramatic at times. And I guess maybe I'm a bit spoiled with my BDSM but I didn't like how they both sort of stumbled upon the knowledge of their preferences and then felt ashamed of it.
The ending was the stuff of soap operas, a bit over done where it wasn't necessary but Jaime redeems himself in the end with flying colors (even though I'll admit I kinda saw it coming). ...more

This book had me from the blurb. It sounded hot and wickedly erotic, and frankly, I just can't resist a BDSM story. Being that this is part of a series, I was happy to find that there were only a few minor details of the story that I was left to try to piece together. Like the concept of the business and our heroines job, which is how this story starts off.
Jennifer works as a bondage/fetish model, and to be quite honest, within the first two pages I was asking myself if I had made the right choice in picking this up because she was talking about one of her fetish pictures which involves a knife. However, this is not the tone of the story, so I'm very happy I kept reading.
She is a tortured soul, coming from a very difficult childhood and lacking love her whole life. She's never let go, she can't follow anyone's rules. So when she finds herself agreeing to be Daegan's temporary submissive, you know there are bound to be control issues.
Daegan has a few skeletons in his closet as well. A gorgeous Irishman, he now returns to the States to leave the past behind and even though he's not searching for another relationship, or another submissive to claim as his own, Jennifer captures his heart from the very beginning.
Ropes, cuffs, crops and floggers mixed in with a good dose of caring and wanting to heal the wounds of their past, these two give in to their feelings and desires. Hot and seductive. I will definitely keep an eye out for this authors next release!...more
