A Family Affair is a perfect title for Harper Bliss's new story and in her unique way, Bliss can turn around what should be an impossible situation into a romance like no other author.
Kate suffers greatly from the fact that she and her husband Kevin cannot have children, they had tried everything, including IVF, but it was not to be. This has caused a rift in the relationship that is difficult to repair. Both are grieving big time in different ways. Kevin withdraws completely from Kate and Kate feels totally abandoned and alone on her own, since her husband, whom she needs right now like never before, is neither emotionally nor physically available.
I can't imagine how desperate Kate must feel in this situation. She is extremely vulnerable and her emotions are all over the place, while her defense mechanism is off. As she spends more and more time with Stella, her sister-in-law, an actress who is on the verge of a breakthrough and whom she had always judged as spoiled and superficial, she has to admit to herself that Stella is a very empathetic and caring person with whom she enjoys spending time. Joking about common celebrity crushes, going to a celebrity party together, relaxing in the jacuzzi, and having a tequila night make Kate forget her whole misery for a while and makes her receptive to unexpected feelings and a surprising attraction.
The story is told alternately from the point of view of Kate and Stella giving us a glimpse into their minds. I liked reading about the arguments and self-criticism of the main characters regarding their situation, their actions, and their feelings. Both women are profound and endearing and I couldn't help but cheer for them.
Cheating is a hard thing to accept and digest. Kevin is understandably no exception, even if he is partly to blame for the whole situation. In the type of situation Kate is in, I can understand how a flirtation can go too far. How the two of them handle everything afterward is all the more important as cheating for months on end is an absolute no-go. Kate and Stella fight against their feelings, blame themselves, and chew on their own guilt. But we can't control when and with whom we fall in love. Will the family break up or will time heal the wounds? Read for yourself, A Family Affair is Haper Bliss at her best. This book is emotional, exciting, and filled with hot sex scenes.

The Lady Kings, the legendary female rock band that opened doors for many other women in the music scene, had not been on stage for ten years. The sudden death of the guitarist threw not only her wife, the lead singer of the band, Lana off the track. But now they are ready for a big comeback tour. They will be joined on tour by the already successful and hip queer band The Other Women.
Cleo, singer, and frontwoman of The Other Women, is over the moon when Lana asks her if she would sing a duet with her as an encore at the end of each concert. She almost can't believe that she will be on stage with her lifelong idol. From the very first performance, the duet is the highlight of every concert evening, and the fans are blown away. The more they're on stage together, the more intense it gets, and more and more real feelings creep in. But first insecurity and appreciation of the idol hold one back, the other does not dare to admit feelings. But someday they can’t resist any longer.
Cleo quickly realizes that her feelings are more than just an idolization of Lana. But band politics threaten to destroy the budding love. Lana tries to fight this attraction, it feels like she is cheating on her late wife Joan, and there is also the big age difference. She could easily be Cleo’s mother, but what she feels has nothing to do with motherly love. Also, the fact that the two women are in totally different places in life doesn't make it any easier for both. Would this relationship even have a chance? What's for sure, is, that the sparks fly high like fireworks, the chemistry between them is skyrocketing and the sex is hot.
But not only the story of the two singers is captivating, but also all the hustle and bustle of a tour. The many different personalities and characters that meet, who are on the road for weeks in the tour bus, and have almost no privacy are excellently shown. All the minor and major frictions, and disagreements, but also the deep friendships and the elation after an almost perfect concert evening are entertaining and fascinating. The story also lives from the diversity of the supporting cast.
A wonderful, mostly light and entertaining, character-driven love story in the spotlight of the music scene, spiked with just a little bit of drama. An age-gap romance unlike any other that only Harper Bliss can make work. A perfect summer book. ...more

A story of a successful and ruthless woman at the head of a studio who rules all of Hollywood, whose subjects and antagonists alike tremble before her, and her only weakness (in her eyes) Audrey, an employee with whom she had a torching hot affair, and wants to keep it secret, or even better, forget it at all costs. But also an Ice Queen has to learn, that love isn’t something you can switch off as you like.
Neve and Audrey's story captivated me from the first sentence and never let go. I had to force myself to put the book down to get enough sleep to do my job properly. It also didn't help that I'm working for a queer film festival where we're about to open and there's still so much to do. That was bad timing on my part to read this book.
The fact that the POV is of Neve, a picture-perfect Ice Queen, was extremely pleasing to me. Most of the time we get to know them from the point of view of the other main character. Also, the talks with her therapist at the beginning of every Chapter were a clever idea by the author. Through these conversations, we learn layer by layer all the nuances of this troubled woman.
Neve's personality fascinated me. She made me feel, not always good feelings, but even when she acted like a complete idiot and big shot, I couldn't hate her. I tried, but the way Milena tells us Neve's story, it just didn't work. I could feel her fears and in the end, I understood where they were coming from. But if I could have, I would have given her shit about her actions, would have shaken her - if I would be brave enough to do so.
Soon we are able to see much more than a strong, unyielding, sometimes ruthless woman who plays out her power. And we understand, that her motto "offense is the best defense" is sometimes nothing more than suppressing her own fears and insecurities.
Love is such a powerful emotion, it lets us do the most amazing things, but sometimes also the absolute worst things for fear of love. And even in the most painful moments, the chemistry between Neve and Audrey is scorching hot.
This is not an easy-to-read story, it is heartbreaking and painful, but also wonderful and surprising. I was never sure how this story will end.
This will definitely be one of my favorite books in 2022. Thank you, Milena McKay.

On the advice of Gaby from Lezreviewbooks.com, I decided to get the audiobook, and it was the right decision. Thank you, Gaby.
The narrator TJ Richards did an exceptionally good job. And I think with the subject matter of loss, depression, and suicide, it was certainly not an easy job. But JT performed all the moods and emotions perfectly. The voices were appropriate for the characters and I always knew who was speaking. Congratulations.
As for the story itself, Lise Gold has a new fan as of now. I loved this book with all its drama. It starts off with a bang as Ella tries to take her own life. Luckily, Cam is able to save her - and their unexpected story together takes off. The author struck a perfect balance of drama and sweet romance. Not only were the main characters well fleshed out, but also Vania was a wonderful friend, a friend as one could wish for.
Depression, loss, even suicide are very important themes in the story, but still, the book is not difficult to read. It is above all a story of hope, friendship, and fighting and overcoming problems. It is a wonderful love story, the chemistry is strong and the dialogues are honest and good, and with a good share of humor. Especially the scenes with the paparazzi photographers on the beach in front of Cam's beach house made me laugh. The perfect way to handle them. I am a photographer myself (no paparazzi) and I could picture them running.
Cam is an absolute sweetheart, I fell in love with her at first "sight". Through her own painful experiences not too long ago, she is able to understand Ella well and support her. And she is not only a good friend, but also a great boss, a wonderful partner for Cam, without being perfect. Ella also won her place in my heart from the first moment. I felt her pain over the loss of her twin sister, her despair and hopelessness. Her path back to life and ultimately happiness is not an easy one, but it shows, with the right people by your side, you can accomplish a lot. This book gives hope.
I absolutely recommend this audiobook. Thank you, Lise and TJ ...more

Amanda Morgan has been the face of New York's The AM Show for many years, the morning TV show that presents serious news to viewers in an entertaining way. Her goal is to eventually, if she had her way, now, take over the evening news show that she has been promised for years. But the patriarchal patterns of the old boys' club on the carpet floor had successfully ignored her until now. And if the rumors are true, she's now even to be cut altogether. But Amanda vows not to leave the field without a fight. And with help from an unexpected side, they show what woman power means. Dakota is also in the morning TV show business, but far from New York as the face of the Cock-a-doodle Rooster Report, sort of a country AM show cousin. Her biggest and only idol is Amanda Morgan.
Amanda spends a hot night with Dakota, not knowing that Dakota is in the same business as her and knows exactly who Amanda is. After she finds out, she feels betrayed and swears revenge, living up to her reputation as the Dragon Lady. But the news universe has other ideas, fate and tragedy take the wheel in hand and bring the two women on the same orbit - it takes good navigation skills that it does not come to a fatal collision.
What I love most about these authors' stories are the characters. They are wonderfully imperfect. They are always very well defined and have a convincing background that you learn bit by bit. For example, Amanda is always the perfect host of the Morning Show, who also helps her show partner cover his age-related mistakes. But in her private life, she has to fight with her shortcomings and doubts, which nobody suspects. Dakota has her quirks and flaws too, she trips herself up from time to time and is sometimes adorable speechless when she has to work with Amanda. She also has a tendency to keep putting her foot in her mouth.
The chemistry between the two was undeniable and the inner monologues they had for or against a relationship were heartwarming and also hilarious. The story has a good flow and as always when the two authors work together, there is a lot of humor. A little mystery, conflict, and jealousy among work colleagues bring tension to the story. And sometimes you get help from an unexpected side, and the strength of women and their abilities are all you need to achieve the goal.
One of my favorite phrases was: «The roaches were so big I would've made them pay rent, but I was afraid they'd gang up on me and take me down»

And I don’t regret it, it’s a beautiful love story and4⭐ I am a big fan of sports romances and when Lezreviewbooks.com got the book, I snatched it up. And I don’t regret it, it’s a beautiful love story and as far as I know, it’s Ms. Gavez’s first novel.
Dani Martinez is the most successful and famous tennis player at the moment. And as much as she loves tennis and success, she enjoys the anonymity on Tumblr where she befriended Ari, a law student. Ari has no idea about tennis and no idea she is talking to a sports celebrity.
I can’t really imagine how exhausting a personal life can be when you’re famous and (almost) everyone recognizes you on the street. But I can imagine that I would enjoy the anonymity of social media while getting to know someone without bias or prejudice and being loved as the person you are and not just for your fame and money.
Ari Nunez is still searching for the right path in life. Law is her profession, but not with the big companies, where she could make a lot of money. She actually wants to make the world a better place, and that doesn’t go together. So what should she do? Maybe her Tumblr friend can help, she trusts her and loves to talk to her. Ari has also been through a bad relationship but is unsure if Dani is really serious about her. She has self-doubts about whether she can live up to the expectations.
Dani, for her part, tries in an endearing way to convince Ari what she sees in her, that she is a wonderful and strong woman, and that she can achieve anything if she wants to. Dani must learn to deal with defeats herself, and find solutions to get back on the road to success. Is Ari a distraction or the gasoline for her tennis engine?
The joy of a new message, or hearing the other person’s voice for the first time, the anticipation of the first meeting in the real world, and when they actually meet, everything was wonderfully described and the dialogues were interesting, realistic, and sometimes fun. Also, the struggles of a long-distance relationship and the constant changes in time difference feel real.
This is a sweet love story with little angst and just a bit of drama. You don’t have to know much about tennis to enjoy the sports parts of this book. Although a few events were a bit predictable, it didn’t stop me from enjoying the story. The writing style was good for a debut novel, there was some repetition but it didn’t bother me much and I’m sure with each book Johana will improve her writing style.
An entertaining, sweet love story, a perfect vacation read, or for a lazy weekend.

For me,This is the first book I’ve read from this author. I’m impressed as the story is very up-to-date as it takes place during the Corona pandemic. For me, this story has a little bit of a fairy tale touch, and I mean that without judgment, as I like them. For one thing, I don't believe that a person with a lifestyle like Jay Firefly's can change so thoroughly and be clean in so little time. And for another, where are the red-eyed beauties in human form? But in my opinion, a story doesn't need to stick to reality, it is allowed to be better than the real world.
This is the story of two women who could not live in more different worlds. Octavia, with her unique red eyes, is a paperless immigrant who had to learn to look after herself at an early age and who had not always made the best decisions but has learned from her mistakes. Now she's got an illegal job as a maid to a rock star. Jay Firefly is the aforementioned rock star who enjoys all the extravagances of a successful life with fame in abundance, drugs, gambling, women, no matter if somebody falls by the wayside. When the Coronavirus changed the world as we know it and forced people to stay at home, Jay and Octavia have to find a way to get through the lockdown together.
When the two are trapped in Jay's New Yorker penthouse, they form a relationship of convenience that quickly becomes a friendship. Octavia seems shy and submissive when she started her new job, but it lasted only a short time in this special situation. Soon she dares to question Jay's lifestyle. Although she rejects the rock star's behavior, she is somehow attracted to her. To Jay's own surprise, she accepts the criticism and begins to rethink her life and behavior. In the beginning, Jay is an impossible, arrogant, and unsympathetic brat who doesn't care about others, as long as she has fun. In two weeks, more women passed through Jay's bedroom than I had in my entire life. I knew she would change and wow, she did. When feelings come into play one thing is clear, Jay has to change a lot to have a chance for a relationship with Octavia. And Octavia knows, she has to open up too and share her secrets. Both have to be brutally honest for a chance of a happy ending.
The author has created interesting characters with all their flaws and edges. With no private life, but a lot of money and all the attention you get from so many groupies, I guess life as a successful rock star is not the easiest one. But how Jay and her friends were behaving was tough to stomach. There is an age gap that is sometimes noticeable in the behavior of the women but has no impact on the couple. The chemistry is tangible and the sex scenes are hot. The story touches various topics like drug and alcohol abuse, respect, and protecting your loved ones. And although some of these topics are difficult, this is an enjoyable read. My only problem was I somehow couldn't fully connect with Jay and Octavia but I can't put my finger on exactly why.

A perfect example of a complex story without getting lost in too many topics. Clare Ashton did an excellent job creating interesting personalities, weaving in uncomfortable issues such as stage fright, the pros and cons of being famous, experiencing panic attacks, stalking, and what effects it can have on an actress. Besides we experience such a sensitive age-gap love story with Anna and Jessica, it’s just heartwarming.

Campbell St. Clair's debut book is a bestseller and now it will be turned into a movie. When she discovered who is playing the lead role, her feelings are all over the place: anger, disappointment, joy, and nervousness for seeing Sloane Murphy again. Sloane was a great influence over her life back in college.
Sloane made a career as a movie star and can live her life without money problems, contrary to her upbringing. When she gets the chance to play the main role in the book adaption of a novel which helped to understand herself better, she grabs the chance. She doesn't know that a classmate from college wrote the book.
Told from the point of view of both main characters, the reader has the possibility to get to know them both. Campbell is struggling with her second novel and trying to figure out her future, care for her little sister (don't exactly know how old she is, but several years younger than Campbell) and the recent loss of their father.
Sloane is successful, but she has some secrets she isn't quite prepared to share with anybody. And after meeting Campbell again, she has to come to terms with her sexuality and her coming out. Seeing Campbell again after years brings her fragile life balance upside down.
What I liked most was the interaction and the dialogues between the MCs, their banter, flirting, fighting and talking. We get to know what happened in college that had such a big influence on Campbell. Even when the attraction was there from the moment they met again, luckily, they didn't jump into bed together at the first possibility. They took their time to get to know each other.
I liked the secondary characters of Val and Riley very much, they brought some perspective to the story and guided the MCs in the right direction, sometimes with a kick in the ass. They are both witty and help bring Sloane and Campbell back on track to happiness. But it is a jumpy road with some angst involved.
For me what took a bit of getting used to was that some of the scenes featured meticulous descriptions of details but left untold important events which were later narrated as flashbacks. It's unusual and not my favorite style. Additionally, some events were a little bit predictable.
Overall, it is a nice romance on the predictable side and with a little bit of angst. My rating 3.5 stars ARC provided by the author and LezReviewBooks.com in exchange for an honest review...more

And we also meet some of the characAs a spin-off of Breaking Characters, in Changing the Script we find us again in Lee Winter's film-industry-world. And we also meet some of the characters from the first book. It’s a stand-alone novel, so you don’t have to read the first one before, but hey, you have to read it, before or after.
In Changing the Script it’s all about Alex Levitin, an independent film director, and the Senior Constable Sam Keegan. After getting a huge tax bill, Alex is forced to take on the job to direct the «worst script ever movie» Shezan – Mistress of the Forest. She’s determined to make the best possible and change the script to a much better version. But the start is not very promising.
Sam has her hands full running a one cop police station in a rural part of New Zealand. The local bike gang and increasing drug traffic is enough to deal with, she really doesn’t need the glamorous Hollywood at her doorstep. She loves the small-town life where she grew up and is fiercely protective of her people.
I liked how the author created tension at the beginning between the main characters after Alex nearly had run over Sam and a second meeting with a heated argument at the local bar. Adding some sabotage, twists and turns, crime and funny moments to the craziness of a film set, and you have a wonderful and entertaining novel in Winter’s style. And the beautifully described landscape of New Zealand invites you to a visit. The pace is perfectly timed, there is never a boring moment.
The romance is lovely and feels real. The chemistry between Sam and Alex is sparkling, even in the beginning, it was more sparkling anger on Sam’s side than erotic sparks. But after having to work together to stop the sabotage on the film set, the feelings are changing. We learn a lot about Sam and get to know why she feels and acts as she does. I very much like the noble, protective and broody character of her. And the amiable, bubbling, sometimes the bossy personality of Alex is a great contrast. In my opinion, the only small thing missing was, I would have loved to know more about Alex’s past.
And there are a lot of wonderful, quirky and witty accompanying characters and some well-known from the previous novel Breaking Characters too.
Lee Winter is always a sure bet for an entertaining few hours of reading. She has a way with words I very much appreciate and love. Highly recommended.

Cooper is another new author for me and it’s a good discovery. I very much liked Cooper’s writing style and the story. And as a New Zealander, she knows much about the Maori culture, which she weaves beautifully into the story. As I know it’s her second novel
The story takes place in England, near London, and is a very nice slow-burn romance with interesting and strong characters. The romance is beautifully written from the POV of both women and we are witnessing the feelings, doubts, deception, anger, and love from both of them. The beginning is a little slow, but after about twenty pages it gets better and better.
As Alana is a native Maori from New Zealand, we learn some pieces of the Maori culture, which is very entertaining and interesting. She’s a very temperamental woman and sometimes a little quick-tempered. Together with her brother Leon, she produces Maori dance shows and they are also the lead dancers. Brear is a reticent artist who’s looking for a new orientation of her art. After her father’s death, she has to fight with guilt about her last discussion and an artists blockade. As she met Alana and got to know her better, it seems she has found her new muse.
Braer and Ariana have great chemistry and are strong-willed women. But deception and hurt have the ability to destroy a wonderful relationship they have started to build. Will they be able to jump across their shadow and forgive, to be with the woman they love? The secondary characters bring depth to the story and are very well developed too. The love scenes are beautiful, hot and emotional. And I loved Rex (German shepherd dog) and Nero the cat.
Recommended to all romance lovers. I’m looking forward to the next one in this series.

This was my first novel by this author, and WOW I just loved it. As I know this is her third book yet. And I will definitely be reading the others tooThis was my first novel by this author, and WOW I just loved it. As I know this is her third book yet. And I will definitely be reading the others too.
The story is a heartwarming romance with “Sam” Samantha Markson and “Abby” Abigail Taylor in lead roles. But there is a third really important person I can’t leave out, Abby’s nine-year-old daughter Grace. And don't stop because of that child, she's just great. It isn’t a new kind of story but even when I knew what will be the problem, it didn’t stop me from reading this sweet love story.
When Abby, a world-famous actress from the States, comes to Melbourne for starring in her new film, she brings with her Grace. She wants for her daughter that she learns as much as she can about the country her mother originally is coming from. She hires a private teacher and therefore Sam is coming on the scene. Sam is a teacher at a private girls school when the school's director gives her the order to teach a nine-year-old girl for three months.
I fell in love with Sam immediately, her humor, her ability to make everybody at ease and her charm let me fall for her. That she is tall, blonde and beautiful didn’t hurt either. She’s such a sweetheart. Like Sam, I also had a little crush on Abby too, the gorgeous, beautiful actress. The chemistry is great and sparks are flying very soon, but it isn’t instant love, it’s more of a slow-burn romance. Whit the sword of Damocles hanging above their heads, both women don’t want to start something with each other when after three months Abby will go back to the US. But as you know, you can’t organize everything in your life as you want, especially when it comes to love.
The romance is sweet, but what I liked the most, was the talking and the interaction with each other. It is written very well with a great part of humor and witty comments, and with some great secondary characters as well. Sam, Abby, and Grace are very well characterized and developed and the whole story is realistic.
I highly recommend this book to every romance lover, I’m happy I’ve read this book and have discovered a new author for me. My rating 4.75 stars

The setup in thThis is my fifth novel by A. L. Brooks and I liked them all. So whenever Brooks will bring on a new book I’ll definitely be reading it.
The setup in this one is nothing new, closeted actress meets writer, but what I really loved was that the MCs are grown up women in her late 40s, early 50s with yearlong successful careers. They meet at a retreat, where they are the only guests at two secluded cabins in the Norfolk area. During the daily strolls through the forest and around the lake, they occasionally meet each other. There is an instant attraction and it didn’t last long till they got to know themselves very well – physically. There are some hot and steamy sex scenes, beautifully written and enjoyable, maybe not when you sit in a public place, but whatever you like. This part is more of an erotic romance, but it goes back to just romance. There are also witty dialogues and some insides in the thinking of both characters. And there is the lovely dog Gizmo.
I liked that it’s written from both characters POV. I always want to know what they both are thinking and feeling, what experiences they had from their life and where they want to go. There are some great dialogues with secondary characters and between them. The struggles Tamsyn has to overcome, after fearing of losing her assignments for the last thirty years, if the public will discover she’s a lesbian. Is she willing to risk everything for Maggie? Is she tired enough of always hiding her real personality? See for yourself. I very much enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to the next from A. L- Brooks.
