I love to see how the career trajectory has changed and how luck and timing can come together with enough talent sometimes.
I'm not sure how many of these lessons, other than hard work, that I could apply to my life for growth, but it was interesting, and the author reads it to you
I think the humor is overstated. I also think it's weird that in order to actually hike the trail you have to get car rides to different sections. Is I think the humor is overstated. I also think it's weird that in order to actually hike the trail you have to get car rides to different sections. Is this normal? This seemed like cheating, but I have never attempted, so I have no idea.
I'm going to assume that Bill and Katz aren't friends at all anymore, for him to write about him this way. Also, it seems weird to only put food in one person's pack for someone who has been on an extensive hike before.
I would say this is worth a read, but I don't think it is as spectacular as others seem to think. Maybe because I grew up in the mountains and hiking.
What I do love about this, is the interactions with others, and the camp sites and facilities, and I love the way that the book ends with the need for the locations with a shower and bed for a night or for some respite to keep going on the harrowing journey.
For all of the bear talk, I was kind of disappointed that this was such a focal point given what happened and seemed like a bit of a cheap ploy to suck in people who wanted to read about bears.
Overall, a solid 3 star book. I'm glad I read it, and I am good not to ever read it again. ...more
The EveryGirl's Guide to Cooking does something very right. It describes the recipes, gives a lot of photographic references and adds in tips about substitution or how to get the best out of your time and ingredients.
With that being said it is also a huge "I love Me" book dedicated to maria Menounos herself. I guess I should have expected this, but she starts out showing her team and then proceeds to talk more about herself than about the actual recipes.... For this I can only award it a high of 3 stars.
If I could rip out half of the self brag book and leave the recipes, It would easily be a 4.5

My biggest issue is that the flow and timeline could be much better! This is nonfiction; there's no need to jump back and forth in the timeline to try to generate suspense, and it didn't work.
Otherwise, the grooming and the creations of teen groomers was insane.
The fact that still no one has any idea what the truth is or how many victims there were is scary.
The appendixes are some of the best parts of the book.

I also hope never to need to go on trial there. In a way it is a bit like being in jail for years while a case is built against/for you.
Worth a read. He's a serial rapist at the very least.

A lot went on at this Chicago hospital, and Franklin shared some of his best stories throughout his career.
The only negative thing is that, in talking about the hubris of doctors, he also has his own, which comes through in some of the stories. It wasn't overly unexpected, but still a bit off-putting.

In short, Constance Wu is valid in the Mental Health tag. I won't say anything that could be construed as shaming her, but she definitely isn't super nice to other people a lot of the time.
The lack of linear flow of this got a bit annoying, but there were some good stories.
It was fine. I LOVE the movie, so it was fun to see the sections that they go through.

It's always great to have reminders of how different sexes can deal with different situations and things to be more aware of.
Being Neuodivergent has made relationships difficult for me to navigate, and sometimes, things like these can help my pattern analysis to avoid ending up in terrible situations with terrible people.
It's worth a read once, prob not something that would ever be re-read, though.

First of all, I want to hug Britney, I can't believe all that she has been through, and I probably would have gone even crazier if someone tried to keep me from my son.
I also feel bad about the way things seemed to be turning/have turned out with the latest Beau.
Worth the read, but I wanted it to be more in depth. This was more of a response to all the questions, and for that it was great.
Britney deserves whatever privacy she wants and to be as crazy and free on Instagram as she wants. She has more than earned it. But I would still love a more intimate look into her from her if she ever feels compelled to write it.
I was dying laughing at the Barbara Walters comments though!

Having worked in the restaurant industry, I expected that, especially from someone with a lot of time in it. It's a weird, toxic existence for many. I could survive in it while I was in it, but I am glad that I was able to leave for a career that demanded a lot less human interaction because this environment is not for the weak or the introverted.
The writing style was fine; I didn't see anything majorly wrong with it. This had more of a tell-all feel, which is fine, but the book's tone was more of an issue for me in terms of enjoyability.
I'm not a reality TV show lover, so that type of person would probably be more of a target audience of this book. What rubbed me the wrong way was the tone of the author, who seems like a huge A-hole.
I know you need to have some of that to out up with these people and to be good at your job and I do not doubt for one second that this man is a wizard at his work, he is probably top of the line. But that doesn't mean I have to like him or how he tells his story.
This is fine if you want a gossipy name/event-dropping book in a way that sheds a shadow on more of those around him, but it's just not more than ok for me in terms of reading enjoyment.
There's more than one way to tell a story; this was his.

It didn't feel very painfully honest other than perhaps the suicide notions, and it definitely wasn't inspirational. I felt more intimate from Jada's red table tops. If anything, this was more of a publicity stunt to save face post-slap and entanglement talk.
I feel like this book got blown way out of proportion and that lies were extrapolated from what was said here. Now I don't know how much of what I heard about it came from interviews, or the actual book itself. But the Tupac being Jada's true love was the opposite of what was written here. As far as what the truth is, I have no idea. Only Jada can know her heart. It's also easy to talk about someone when they aren't alive to contradict what is said, so you can lead the narrative.
Jada describes herself in a way that is kind of personality-less and depressed and suicidal for the majority of her life other than when she would get very aggressive and combative about things. There was no prenuptial, and she bought her house years ago. They have lived in superstar houses but have been business partners.
She really didn't say a lot, just a lot of vague name-dropping. It was far from a tell-all
Also, I'm pretty sure Wesley Snipes has to be her "Lance".
Mostly, Jada just sounds sad and like she is kind of existing.
I guess I wanted this to feel as intimate as the Red Table tops, and other than heartfelt thank you to a few people, it wasn't a very surface-level biography.
Kerry repeatedly talks about her detachment and need for privacy. This comes through clearly in the reading of her memoir.
While reading more about soKerry repeatedly talks about her detachment and need for privacy. This comes through clearly in the reading of her memoir.
While reading more about someone I have watched and admired was good, it felt detached and had zero intimacy.
I can tell that Kerry sharing this secret was huge, and she has spent years dwelling on a secret that felt like betrayal. Even the title is a bit of a slap in the face to what this means to her family.
The way it is written, it feels like the news was still raw for her, so I was shocked to see that it was completed and published five years after she first found out.
I hope to see more of Kerry onscreen, and maybe she can find more security and trust to let us in a bit more in a future memoir. I would love to feel like I was in the room with her while she read it, but instead it felt like another skin she had slipped on for this part.
