So, don't go into this book expecting 'Gladiator meets Game of Thrones' as the blurb says. I didn't find this book similar to GOT whatsoever, but it was still incredible in its own way.
This book is about a royal girl seeking revenge for her family - and herself - by killing a horrible queen. Honestly I've read a LOT of books with this same premise - I think 2 just this year - but Kill the Queen still managed to be special and interesting. I really enjoyed the world building and the characters, and this was such an entertaining read!
WTF was this book? WTF was that ending? If that was supposed to shock me, it just made me roll my eyes...

I really liked the premise of this book, but the execution was soooo bad. Mackenzie is an idiot, Blake is an idiot, the romance was ridiculous and forced, the 'secrets' were stupid and nothing made much sense.
I felt the same way about the other book I read from the same author - The Cellar - so I think I may be skipping her books from now on....more

Some parts were sarcastic and funny, which I liked, but at the same time there wasn't anything new or inspiring regarding 'business advice', which I thought was the purpose of #GIRLBOSS?
This book also made it really hard to like Sophia. I found myself rolling my eyes whenever she mentioned how Nasty Gal was the best company in the world or how hard-working she was (which was A LOT), and it just felt like she was talking down to the reader... Not all that enjoyable....more

The ‘plot twist’ - not even sure if I should call it that - is obvious from the very first chapters, and honestly there’s no way the main character would be so clueless...
At the same time, this book was so damn entertaining! Three princes? Trials? Magic? Fights and intrigue and politics? I like all of those things!! I just wish it was longer, with some scenes and relationships being better developed.
This book is perfect if you’re looking for something fun and quick, and with some steamy scenes. I already know the rest of the series will be extremely fun to read as well and I can’t wait. :D...more
This was pretty cool!! A housewife from the 60`s that is secretly an assassin? Why do I find this plot so entertaining? lol The art is also gorgeous. IThis was pretty cool!! House of Darken, however, had a great premise - and a gorgeous cover - but the execution just wasn't good.
I really wanted to like this - come on, it's about hot aliens! - but I just didn't feel anything for the characters. Emma was a bit annoying and the romance just came out of nowhere. The world, which could have been really awesome, also fell flat, unfortunately.
I'm thinking maybe the other books, that have different main characters, may be better... I'm still debating if I'll continue on with this series or not......more
