Most novels I come across never make it past the surface, like the author is just doing it for bucks (yeah, I definitely need to be a bit more discerning in my tastes). This book felt different, felt real and it transported me into its world. First Love is a beautiful thing to read about and Autoboyography made it transcendent. I enjoyed even more so because it's about more than just love, it's firing on all sorts of cylinders : coming of age, religion, familial relationships, the bonds of friendship all weaved together with a spellbinding prose that made sure I couldn't put this book down until the very last word (seriously I read up to the about the author and added them on twitter). This is definitely recommended reading and I can't wait to get the paperback( I need to have this on my shelf!) ...more

HI love the world this story takes place in, it's fascinating and exciting, even if it's not a new idea, it seems to be put together in a fresh take. However, I feel as if the sequels have lost the vibrancy of the first book; and the plot lines are no longer well fleshed out, causing the rhythm of the book to be oddly paced as seen in a major plotline being resolved quickly after a big fuss was made of it. Also the repetition of the MCs reluctance to play the political game & accept their new place in society was downright annoying.
All in all, I did enjoy reading this book, and I will hope for improvement in the ones that follow. ...more

My first thought after reading was, awww. I quite enjoyed the story of Manny, the go getter personal trainer and Chris, the rising star, firmly in the closet actor. Harper Miller definitely knows how to do a lot with little. With just a little paragraph here or there, characters are made, fully fleshed out and vivid, Joulie, Titi Lucia, Aimee. The book is told from Manny's POV, and his character is built up especially strong, he's leaps from the page and burrows his way into your heart.
Likes -the characters -hot smex, it was definitely scorching. -Manny's bisexual, and that's something you seldom see. -I liked the vibe between Chris and Manny.
Dislikes -I didn't get as much as a look into Chris as I would have liked.
Also, when reading, don't forget to go to the website : kinkysinglesconnect.com for the epilogue!
Would I recommend this? Of course, if it's written by Ms. Miller it's bound to be good.
Would I read this again? Most certainly!

The MCs constantly calling each other (and everyone else) beautiful and gorgeous was the sum total of their relationship (and this book) . Also 2/3s into the book and nil character development/ world building just smexi times and thinking about smexi times, and what was with that whole spiel about always using condoms and then suddenly with this one person you know diddly squat about no need for condoms because you're both 'clean'. *eye roll*Add in instalust/love, and it all combines to form a pretty unexpectedly sucky read.
Would I read this again/ finish reading this? Nope.
Would I continue the series? Already did, the fifth book wasn't too bad, I really enjoyed Marcus and Joe's story.
Would I recommend this book? Nope, but go right on ahead to book five! This series is clearly very loosely affiliated with paranormal elements and so you don't need to read in order or read them all. ...more

3.5 stars! This was such fun! I was giggling throughout! You guys, there was a curly haired AA mom & son supervillain team! Like where has this been all of my life?! I really enjoyed this but I wish the author lingered more on the development of the relationship between Crush & Max, especially since Crush even approaching Max was so out of the left field for Max. In short, this would have been better if longer and with some actual world building.
Would I recommend this? Yes!
Would I continue in this series? Yes! Especially if there's more Max & Crush goodness to be found!

The whole super soldier pairs/ futuristic aspect was pretty cool. Very slow burn, intercepted with military happenings (which I liked, and thought was done well) but overall the story was missing something.
Would I re-read this? Yes, maybe upon a second reading I'd like it more.
