No, I don't mean it's about Blue Ribbon (the name prior to Nike). It's about liquidity issues for fast growing companies. Most of the book talked about getting money to fuel the growth. Good read to understand that too much growth can be bad.
Also it doesn't get much into the modern Nike. 95% of the book is about prior to the early 80s.
I didn't mind either fact as I found those stories to be interesting.
Phil Knight does get a bit philosophical in his writing style. "waxing poetically" might be the right phrasing. It was groan inducing at times....more

I started reading this book to continue to understand my company's customer base. Then it home way more then expected. Poor kid from Ohio who takes different trajectory then what is normal from those in that area. The book even helped explain a bit why we have our current President, even though it was finished before the election.
The book didn't go into as much detail about the statistics and plight of this group as whole. More of a personal telling and how it relates to the hillbilly group. Not an opinion changing book but a good read for someone who's open minded and wants to understand more how other people live....more

But the book missed the mark. Kept saying "and then the ship would get into the most exciting naval action the world has ever seen". Then it would just be a recap of the captain's log. The story telling did not display any of the excitement it mentioned....more

I will admit that I didn't listen to all 2 hours of the source material in the audiobook....more

About a half dozen times I remarked upon a great string of words. In the end I don't know if I'm that much wiser about plants or being a scientist. But I know a good story when I read one....more
