IF what Harry says in this book about the lawlessness of the press in Britain, then no wonder he and his family had to flee. Esp if no one else in theIF what Harry says in this book about the lawlessness of the press in Britain, then no wonder he and his family had to flee. Esp if no one else in the family was going to help him out. I'm surprised that as rich as this family is they are at the mercy of the press and even put out their own spun stories. How odd. No wonder Harry left. What does this say about the people of Britain who must buy these tabloids? I get that not every fake story in the press needs to be corrected but this seems like a whole cleaning up of the press is in order. OF course if noone bought the press' garbage papers, then this would go away. Just saying....more

A beautiful story about how a family can pull together and create a family filled with love and trust. AmandaOne of my favourite books read this year.
A beautiful story about how a family can pull together and create a family filled with love and trust. Amanda's son writes that he is really a she. Amanda's spouse tells her he is a she. Mix all that up and instead of an explosion, they create a loving family where everyone matters and people can be who they want to be....more

It is only near the end of the book that she starts talking about actually working on healing from the insest she suffered. Even then she is very sketchy about what she learned in therapy using broad sweeping ' over the next year and a half' etc. While i wasn't looking for grisly remembrances, i would have liked to see more specifics of how she changed. The last couple of chapters were a summary of some of the changes she made. As i have ocd, i'd have liked to see how ocd affected her life specifically. But she just glossed over it....more

There is a lot of American race issues i knew little about. Now i understand better the difference between caste and racism and how caste infaltrates everyone's psyche. Big question the book didn't deal with was Obama's precidency. It was touted as a win for African Americans and a time for whites to regroup and bring back the caste rulings. What it didn't do is to analyse Obama's actions as president and show how he helped his people with better laws, better actions. She writes "The price of privilege is the moral duty to act when one sees another person treated unfairly. And the least that a person in the dominant caste can do is not make the pain any worse Change the word 'privilege' to president and i wonder why Obama couldn't do some of the basics Wilderson talks about: getting rid of traitorous Civil War Statues ( you don't see a statue of Hitler in Germany). That was the LEAST he could have done to help all African Americans to feel more at home and comfortable in their own country. I am not much into American politics so i don't know if he did anything to get rid of the caste system leftovers but i wonder if he thought himself above - an honourary white, a 'don't rock the boat' president? Just b/c he is charismatic and good looking doesn't make him a good president. That just makes him a good entertainer. A man who was giving such power should have done something with it. Obviously i think Biden (and Trump) and any other president has the obligation of forwarding the country towards the constitution. Trump got many jobs back into the country for people of all colours, what will Biden's legacy be? ...more
