From the first page during the debutante ball, I was hooked. We are following three girls who aren't really friends but know each other and are all connected by Lily and something that happened in the past.
There were plenty of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat, and I really enjoyed the growing friendship between the girls. And that ending was a complete surprise! ...more

Throughout the story, I never had any idea where it was going to go next, and I loved every surprising moment. This hooked me from the first page when we see Thomas and his tribe trying to escape the blight, and his and scorcias story had me complete immersed in the story and had me staying up into the wee hours of the night because I couldn't put it down. The world building is unique and well thought out and descriptive without being overwhelming, I loved Thomil and Sciona and how they went from two people from complete opposite ends of the hierarchy and became something more. I will absolutely be reading more by this author. ...more

I will definitely be reading those previous books! I was pleasantly surprised by the ghostly Doris, who helps Georgiana solve the cases involving the bodies her little doggie seems to keep digging up, and I enjoyed Georgiana and her relationship with her partner Colin.
From start to finish I was completely sucked in and ended up reading it in one sitting. I thought both of the cases/ mysteries were really well plotted, and I especially enjoyed watching Georgiana solve the cold case. The current case, well I don't condone murder but this guy definitely had it coming. I loved the characters and both cases kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see how they were going to play out. ...more

I liked Meg and Ethan separately but had a bit of a hard time investing in their romance for most of the story although I did like the ending.
I liked the setting of Bainbridge Island, and I thought the residents of the town, particularly the ones involved in Pickleball were pretty funny. There was a lot of ball humor that had me at the very least smiling while reading. I thought the friendship Meg has with her bestie Annie was great, and I really enjoyed seeing Meg find her way back to what she loved after her divorce....more

Not only is Hattie carting around a dead body, and of course, it is someone she recently argued with, and of course, she takes it to the corpse whisperer.. I mean Mia. and of course Mia helps a girl out, making sure Hattie doesn't go down for a murder she didn't commit.
Mia, Lucy, Hattie, and King Tut are on the case! They will not rest until they have uncovered the truth! Covert Chaos has so much going happening! It's non-stop from beginning to end, had me laughing out loud around every turn, and a great mystery that kept me guessing. I can't wait to see what going to happen next!!...more

Their little town is super adorable, and the mystery always keeps me guessing.
Mercy and Lizzie have done it again and find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation when they find the body of a famous author. Well, mostly Mercy as Lizzie is busy running the bookstore, and the festival in town. I love that when Mercy is investigating, she gathers clues from things she has observed and asks questions. And in this installment, she gets to work with our hunky detective and not do investigating behind his back... well mostly.
This series is so much fun, I can't wait to see what is going to happen next!!!...more

Maggie is a great character. After some tragedy, she left her grandmother's home. A place that always made her feel safe and loved. She is trying to make a life, living next door to her best friend, and working with Violet to open a community garden. She does have some push back, her cousin Simon is making a nuisance of himself wanting more of the inheritance than he has a right to, an obnoxious real estate agent who won't take no for an answer when it comes to selling her house, and a weird rivalry with a woman she went to school with who seems to go out of her way to be hateful towards Maggie. Then she finds a body.. along with the rest of the community gardeners, although from the way the police are acting it seems she is more of a suspect than a witness. And when no one can find her friend Violet, the woman she was opening the Garden with, and the police don't seem that interested in finding her, Maggie and her bestie go off on their own to figure out where Violet is, and who really killed the person in the garden plot.
Maggie and her friend are of course repeated.y warned away from the investigation by a hunky Statie.. Could there be some chemistry? I hope so! but they are determined and actually discover evidence the police missed.. I really enjoyed going along with Maggie as she investigates and gets herself in a bit of hot water both with the police and with the killer.
This was a fun and fast-paced read that had me entertained from beginning to end, and I will definitely be keeping my eye out for book 2!...more

I'm loving the direction this story is taking! I love how Rylann goes about talking to ghosts, and helping them where she can. We are getting some forward momentum in a few parts of Rylann's life, with her relationship with Ford and with her mom.
Rylann and Mickey find a body thanks to the help of a ghost, Turns out the victim is a relative of Ford, and that has him and Rylann working closely together. Which led to exactly where I was hoping between the two of them. yay! I have been waiting for this since book 1!
The mystery is especially twisty with lots of suspects, and secrets coming to light. Of course, Rylann ends up in danger, she just can't seem to help it. And in an extra surprising twist with how she gets out of it. And that ending, well lets just say I need the next book asap!!...more

From the first moment Eleanor meets Henri Bonheur, aka Harry, if that is his real name, the chemistry is palpable. You could tell right away they were going to have some great banter, and Kate Bateman didn't disappoint. I loved watching them work together, and if Harry needs to demonstrate what a great pickpocket he is from time to time, well, it's all in the name of solving a mystery.

But as soon as Griffen is able to communicate with Emily they are instantly in a relationship. Emily is helping Griffen with his curse stuff, and trying to bring him into the current century, and Griffen is way to mushy with his compliments, and I just found it too much too fast.

Redd has finally arrived in Eden, her only objective is to meet her mother and get the answers she's been craving her entire life. The colonists are overjoyed to have Redd back in Eden.. for an entirely different and sinister reason than that one of their own has returned home.
Redd has a lot to uncover, secrets and lies that affect not only her life but everyone else who lives in Eden. We also get the POV of Eleanor, her parts were so emotional and devastating. She has done everything remotely possible to save her daughter each time a piece of her soul dies and in the end, it didn't seem to make much of a difference.
This story is compelling, and emotional, and kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. At a little over 400 pages, I thought it would take me a while to read, but I flew through it, reading it in one sitting. I love this series, and I can't wait to see what Katie Hayoz is going to write next. ...more

And once I realized what was happening I wanted to punch her even more.

I loved Carrie's relationships with her great-aunt and uncle and how the slow-burn romance worked perfectly within the story. The writing is atmospheric and sucks you in and you sucked into Carrie's everyday life of trying to fix up her grandma's cabin and deciding whether or not she is staying in Woodsmoke for good. And the relationships with the people she left behind, which she's unsure if she wants to fix. Oh man, this one was a rollercoaster not only for me as a reader but for our lovely main character Sam Jellico. We learn along with her, so many things about her past, and we get to see her outsmart her father yet again! Her romance with British billionaire heartthrob Richard Addison is steamy and so lovely. They make an unlikely yet absolutely perfect couple, they just get each other.

While I haven't read the first book in the series, and I did feel like I was missing some context in the relationships it wasn't too bad that I couldn't follow or enjoy the story.
Willow is an ex-marketing manager running a bar with her two friends. She is trying to move past the trauma of her abusive ex and help other women who went through the same trauma. Eli is dealing with his baggage from his sister being murdered by her ex. And he has had growing feelings for Willow for quite some time especially after they shared a kiss that neither of them could forget.
I liked both Willow and Eli separately and together, although I did feel like once they started fake dating their romance progressed really fast. Also even with Willow being in danger and both of them dealing with their past issues the stakes felt pretty low. There wasn't really and suspenseful or tense moment that made me not want to put it down.
Despite that, I thought the romance was cute, and I really enjoyed Willows and Eli's friend group and would like to go back and read the first book. ...more

I enjoyed Chase as our MC, and I loved her friends and little sister Guthrie. Chase's relationship with her parents is strained, they love the van life, and all Chase wants is to settle down and have roots. She also wants Guthrie to get help. She has gone through something traumatic in a wooded area and since it happened she hasn't spoken one word to her family,
Now Chase and her family are moving to a fire lookout in Pando.. in the middle of the forest, which doesn't seem like the right place for a little girl who was traumatized in .the .woods. I thought Maggie did an amazing job with the police. I enjoyed watching her study those little snippets of letters and words and explain how they could point to a specific person, or a least help rule people out. She does this sentence diagramming, and I really enjoyed trying to figure out in what order things were supposed to go. It was definitely easier with phrases I was familiar with.
