This was my first book by Nadine Dorries- although I have a couple waiting on my kindle. I loved every minute of this book. It starts when Ruby is rescued and taken to the local convent. When she starts work at the castle she has a sense of deja vu. Why does the castle look familiar.
I loved the characters- the ones who worked in the castle and the ones above stairs. I could picture the coast through the windows and was desperate to know how this would end.
A real family saga with a few surprises along the way. I loved her writing style and I'm now keen to read more.

Lottie is the main character- but you get to know the others so well you feel that you know them. Lots of old and new money mixing. Would love a follow up to this one.
Lottie is trying to decide whether to settle with her boyfriend or one of the other tasty men that catch her eye! She writes so well about the animals in the book- great for animal lovers everywhere. They are characters of their own – really fleshing out the whole experience.

Iris has escaped an abusive relationship and is enjoying working in a small bakery with dreams of running her own cake making business one day. She has a best friend with a young daughter and they help each other out. Her friends brother comes home for Christmas and he turns out to be the man she met out the previous night.
They fall for each other- but will the course of true love run smoothly? He's due to return to base soon and possibly back out to Afghanistan before leaving the army in a couple of years. After living that lifestyle as a child can she imagine waiting for him?
I loved the descriptions of the gatherings she organised for her family.

When further heartbreaking times happen she decides to make the trip alone. What a spectacularly romantic setting for a Christmas book. Tilly Tennant has the amazing talent to transport you deep within the pages of her books, imagining yourself on holiday in the snowy setting, meeting Santa and the reindeers. You share in the emotions the characters are feeling.

The song was Cinderella and the lyrics were just beautiful. I looked him up on the internet and learnt a lot more about his music and faith. This book follows his life from childhood, with the struggles, tragedy and the way his strong faith pulled him through troubled times. It was an extremely honest account with some really heartbreaking sections. I do really admire people with strong beliefs and the way that they live their lives with a set framework....more

They have agreed to go on a ski-ing holiday together and have been following a fitness regime in preparation.
I loved the description of the ski resort and the nerves of the friends, most who have never been ski-ing before. It sounds such a perfect festive holiday. Ginny will be marking the first anniversary of losing her husband and the other friends are also going through some troubled times of their own.
It was lovely to read a book about mature friendships and the different outlooks they have. I felt as though I was learning to ski myself and almost tempted me to think about booking!...more

I feel as though I am amongst friends whilst I am reading. It is set in my favourite place- Cornwall. I can jut imagine the tide crashing on the shore whilst everyone goes along their way and making their way up the steep hill to see family and friends. Alice and Jonny's wedding is growing closer and they ask family and friends for help. Zak is back with his grandma after a troubled time in the music industry and is wanting to hide away and heal his wounds. Tess is also harbouring a troubled past. Can they work together to ensure the magic comes together for the wedding? I loved the warm family relationships where everyone is looking out for each other, the romance of the wedding and between other characters and the whole village community pulling together to ensure that Alice and Jonny enjoy the day of their dreams amongst good friends. The carnival plans sound fun , if a little stressful and really makes you imagine that you live in Polwenna and have been roped in to help organise a bake sale for the carnival. I can't wait to return to Polwenna.

I've seen my daughters Rome holiday photos , so I could picture some of the story settings and feel the atmosphere fully. She was awful to her behind her sons back and she would have made me run the other way!
You do wonder where this story is going to take you- as the first page gives you the idea that Pammie has a hidden agenda. We don't know why or what she might be capable of. But she comes across as a very over protective momma bear who wants to keep her cubs unnaturally close.
Emily has a lovely family and a close group of friends who are there for her throughout the book.
Once I settled into the story I really couldn't wait to see what happened next. I will look forward to reading more by this author. ...more

We see his next victim lined up and how he is setting the scene for his evil purposes. Everyone around him is wary of him and we are aware of his thoughts and depravity. You are desperate for him to be unearthed and arrested but not sure that we will be in time. You can see the grooming process in progress and you really want to call the police and let them know! I wasn't sure what I would feel about this book- as the subject matter is so harrowing- but it is more about the workings of the evil doctor. I couldn't put it down....more

I love books with a wedding and this one was the stuff of dreams! Emily has had a tough time and is keeping all relationships at arms’ length. Her friend is determined to get her settled down- despite keeping her own boyfriend secret from her family. When Alice’s sister is getting married at a castle , the guests are invited for a whole week of celebrations and Alice sees this as the perfect way of finding Mr Right for her friend. I loved all the characters- I felt like I really got to know them. The whole wedding build up was perfect- I loved the sound of all the activities although I’d have probably have been hiding in the library for some of them. It sounded like the perfect break away with a pretty wedding to look forward to at the end of it. There are sparks of romance and also some characters to avoid! I could quite easily have sat down to breakfast- they sounded delicious. I adored Jennifer Joyce’s previous books and she has a marvellous way of making the food described in her books sound so tempting that you have to have something handy to eat! ...more

The setting, food and characters are all connected within a hygge theme- guaranteeing a warm, comfortable and happy feel. You can imagine yourself in Eva's cafe being wrapped in her welcome and enjoying the delicious food on offer in a cafe that makes you forget life outside. Kate is a publicist and when she gets passed over for a promotion finds herself the only one available to run a campaign pitch for Lars idea for a Hygge department store. He is very impressed with the way she pitches and invites her and a team of journalists to an organised tour to embrace everything he is trying to introduce. The team of journalists provide many amusing moments and you can feel Kate's apprehension over being in charge of a group of grown ups on a 'school trip' with the added danger of them piling a lot of drink to the expense account. You can just imagine trying get them through duty free and then down to reception to leave on time for the trips. She gets to know them better and they start to form a lovely group having fun. I loved every page of this book, the cover is sure to grab your attention and the story will make you sigh with happiness....more

An eight year old girl goes missing from her parents party- but no one can tell the police when they last saw her. Everyone seems to have something to hide and the parents aren't presented sympathetically at all.
It's every parents nightmare- but they don't seem to be living in a nightmare and are still more concerned about how they are perceived. There are obviously secrets in this family- but just what secrets we are left to discover.
We read real time updates on facebook and twitter revealing what the local people think. We also see the tv appeal where the parents are alway scrutinised closely. This always makes me feel great sympathy for the parents at the worst point in their life they are expected to appeal to the public whilst everything they do and say are watched by the police for clues to their guilt.
It's a real page turner making you second guess events along the way...more

I was really keen for this one to be released as a single volume. It leaves you with lovely images of CedarWood Lodge coming back to life after Clio decides to renovate it and turn it into a venue for celebrations. You fall in love with the old house and all the characters become firm friends. There is an air of mystery surrounding the house and lots of romance, too. This one concentrates on French recipes and in particular Kate's life and issues. Her friends rally round and provide huge support and the occasional babysitting to help her feel like her own person for a while.
