I love Karla, but this is definitely not my fave series of hers. Like The Bombshell Effect, this book also feels rushed to me. It's like they hook up, insert lots of family drama, a grand gesture, and the end. While she dives deep into Ava's complex family dynamics, I just feel like I didn't have enough time to really fall in love with these characters together. ...more

Premise: you keep running into a hot guy around NYC, and he just so happens to become your new boss. He's upfront, telling you how much he wants you, and you *try* to deny your feelings. But things get complicated when his past comes knocking.
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would! It had just the right amount of angst, thanks to past chapters in Chase's pov that come to a point in the present. Chase also oozes confidence and cockiness. He was supportive and protective, even after he broke Reese's heart. But she didn't let him give up on them that easily....more

- Small-town Montana ranch - Cowboy romance - Second chance - Childhood friends to kinda enemies to lovers - Workplace romance - Past & present timelines - No breakup - Dual POV - Narrated by Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor
Premise: Indya spent her summers visiting West’s family’s ranch. But years (and a couple of broken hearts) later, she returns to bring it back from the brink, and he’s not too happy about it.
Crossroads has a lot to like: - Past and present timelines, so we see them grow up and fall in love over several summers. "That was how it had always been between us. We belonged to each other. Even when we didn’t." - A determined FMC working herself to the bone out of love for her dad and West. I loved seeing her transform his dream into reality. - A cowboy MMC who always thought about her (a.k.a updating her cabin in case she ever came back). West was determined not to let her go once he had her again. - A little bit of hate before it turned to love. It took West a hot second to realise Indy only wanted to help. When he finally let go of his anger, things heated UP! - A couple finally getting to know each other past those childhood summertime feelings. "I knew her heart. I knew her laugh. I knew her shrugs and the way she looked every time she was fighting tears. But that wasn’t enough. Not anymore."
I would’ve liked just a little more tension and a slow burn, but that’s really my only complaint!

Let me list what I loved about this story: The premise! It might just be because I’m an avid traveller, but I love how Raine finds herself in a random pub in Cobh after losing her belongings and lands a job working for Jack within hours. Then, the ending where she finds her home with him and is able to keep travelling? THE DREAM, PEOPLE. - Having two neurodivergent MCs. Raine has ADHD, while Jack has ADHD and OCD. But this inherent understanding of the other just added another layer and depth to their relationship. "With Jack, I feel perfectly at home in who I am." ...more

Ronan and Willow meet while flying to Hawaii and fate keeps putting them in each other’s paths. She has a firm no baseball players rule because she works for a team, but with Ronan playing for a different team, she gives into her desire. But things get complicated when he’s traded to her team months later.
This was a very easy book to binge over a weekend. The dynamic between Ronan and Willow was addictive. What’s not to love about a charming single dad with a cute kid and a sassy, strong woman? Nothing.
Ronan is a protective papa bear and green flag central. He gave Willow what she craved most – a family so she wasn’t left feeling alone again. At one point he literally says, "I want to be the only man to give her what she deserves. First, last, only." Like, okay, sir ...more

What I loved: - Danielle. I want to be her when I grow up. I adored her strength, vulnerability, and relatability. While I’m not a parent, I think anyone who is will relate a lot to her plight. Case in point: "Everyone should have kids; they’re great for self-esteem. Said no one ever." ...more

Wes and Ada share a kiss at Brooks’s bar before she runs out… and learns the next day that he’s her new client. She tries to keep things professional between them, but when Wes sees her and understands her like no one else, she struggles to keep the walls around her heart erected.
Something I admire about Lyla’s writing is the character depth – mam dives deep, and I love her for it! With Ada, you have a woman who comes off as cold but is really just shy and lonely, trying to find herself again after being trapped in a loveless marriage. She found both herself and a family at Rebel Blue Ranch, with Wes, the girls, and the Ryders inviting her into the fold.
"I think I might have been homesick for Rebel Blue before I knew it existed" = perfect found family vibes.
Then you have sweet, gentle, sunshine Wes, who’s looking to prove himself with the new guest ranch and step out from his siblings’s shadows. I loved the way he tenderly cared for Ada and understood she didn't want to feel trapped again.

What I loved: - Shay's character growth. It was wonderful to finally see her realise she'd lost herself after her husband's passing and then find herself again with the help of her friends and Rowan. - Rowan. The dedication said, "a touch of alpha, a pinch of cinnamon, and a whole dollop of sweet," and this is the perfect description for Rowan. While I didn't quite buy how fast he fell for Shay, he was very much a caretaker and very sweet with her and her son. He understood her need for control while also helping her slowly let go in some areas. - Two top moments: Rowan buying velcro sneakers to make Kai feel better and sending Shay a certain present ...more

How to End a Love Story is… not what I was expecting.
Firstly, it took me a hot second to get into this book, primarily because of the writing style—the third-person POV changes mid-chapter. I think listening compared to reading helped me adapt to the different style.
But at around 20%, I got a bit more interested in Helen and Grant’s dynamic. They’re the epitome of black cat/golden retriever energy. She’s very cold towards him because of something that happened in their past that changed both of their lives forever, but he slowly makes his way through her impenetrable wall and into her heart.
They go from enemies to reluctant friends bonding over shared trauma to friends with benefits.
Which leads to another thing I didn’t anticipate – the spice. It was spicier (and hornier, tbh) than I expected. But I also felt the amount of spice didn’t fit the story, and Grant’s dirty talk didn’t fit his character. I did like the marker scene, though, not gonna lie.
Finally, this didn’t pull at my heartstrings as much as I expected, either. It definitely got angstier towards the end, and I liked the character development, seeing them forgive themselves and Helen overcome her imposter syndrome and confront her family, but there were no tears in sight.
My feelings for this book are as complicated as Helen's feelings for Grant, clearly ...more
