They both have their own emotional baggage, and I loved how they managed to come to terms with their issues. It was refreshing to read about grown-ups acting like grown-ups, and none of their problems feels like unnecessary drama. It felt very grounded, and had lots of good people supporting each other in it. That is something I've come to appreciate a lot. In a way, that sort of thing makes me happier than any romance could. It was funny, too, and had just the right amount of sex scenes. Lately I've been having trouble finding romances that hold my interest, and this had me hooked right until the end....more

I'd come across this series repeatedly on different review sites and decided to give it a try. For the most part, it was a fun fake relationship story with lots of bickering, but it never convinced me entirely, and the conflict in the end (and its resolution) didn't work for me. It was a nice read for a Sunday afternoon, and I don't have any regrets, but I'm also not eager to read any of the sequels....more

It’s been a while since I’ve read what I‘d call a „mainstream romance novel“ that I can wholeheartedly recommend. „The Flatshare“ is about Tiffy and Leo who share a flat without ever seeing each other (lets ignore the depressing fact that such a scenario isn’t completely unrealistic in the wonderful world we live in), but start getting to know each other via short notes they leave each other in their flat. Both Leo and Tiffy are good people, and it was lovely to see them fall in love. It also had some genuinely funny bits, and the necessary drama was topical without becoming too preachy. A fun romance all around that I cannot wait recommending to people. ...more

I haven't read that much historical m/f romance, so the things that had me raise my eyebrows possibly are quite normal. And to be fair, I enjoyed myself too much to really complain. So even though Iay not have believed everything about the story, I believed it enough to have fun, which can't be too bad....more

I gave this a try after reading several glowing reviews and while it didn't quite live up to that, it certainly was a lot of fun. Both Cassandra and Joshua are lovely, and their banter was hilarious. It did feel a bit like a modern comedy dressed up in historical clothes at times, but I enjoyed myself too much to mind. I'm already curious about the next books in the series, whenever they may come....more

There was so much love and passion and tenderness and friendship in here, it melted my heart. And while there was quite some angst, it never felt overwhelming or overdone. Really, this was wonderful and I highly recommend it....more

I'm still a bit hesitant when it comes to m/f, but I loved this - it's a sweet and hot friends-to-lovers story. Because of the length, we don't get that much character development, but even though we only spend a very short time with them I had a better idea of what these characters were like and what they felt than in some longer novels I've read. I definitely will read more by her, and I really recommend checking out her writing, especially if you're a bit wary about m/f. It's great stuff....more

If I added all the m/f romances I've tried to read and never got past the first couple of pages to Goodreads, that probably would even surpass the number on my manga shelf. I've had so many bad experiences with m/f romance that it takes a lot for me to want to give it a chance - and I actually think self-published authors may be the best choice right now. From what I can tell from what we are selling at our store, at least 80% is still the kind of stuff I don't want to read. But I would love to read more books like this.
Ruth is an amazing character - I loved her prickliness and the way she slowly, slowly opened herself up. It just felt so real. And Evan was just lovely - and the way he treats Ruth was perfect and made me melt. I liked Evan's relationship with Zach as well, and the other supporting characters also had enough depth to make it satisfying. Ruth's relationship with her sister made me tear up a little, actually. This just had everything I could ever want from a romance novel. I'm so glad I gave it a chance. This definitely won't be the last Talia Hibbert book for me....more
