I thought I had a pretty good grasp of the horrors of WWII. I've studied so many aspects of it for decades, but there's a particular brutality in the minds of some tyrants that requires all people, whether under that rule or outside of it, to pay attention, recognize the danger and do whatever we can to prevent its growth and success. Hitler wasn't the only one. There have been many "strong" rulers with no regard for the lives of those they rule. There are several now. This history is important.
Reading Bloodlands isn't pleasant but Timothy Snyder tells it in straight forward easy to understand terms. Please read it....more
