I have never in my life felt like my heart was ripped out, stomped on and then left into pieces like I have with the ending of this story, it’s only part 1 but holy hell what a fucking story.
Mal and Chris are what dreams are made of. Honestly this is one of the best romances I have read this year. This was truly one of the most beautiful contemporary romances I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading, truly. The emotions in this, the chemistry, the overall development: literal perfection.
And let’s not forget this is a black romance, written by a black author but holy smokes you are TRULY missing out if you don’t read JL Seegars. She writes some of the best you will ever read.
I’m going to be screaming over this book, and crying and sobbing till part 2. I am unwell.

I think I’ve been desperate for a good college sports romance for awhile and what this author does? She does it beautifully. The fact that I read a book with so many diverse characters and not one seemed misplaced or forced just shows how natural and well thought out this was. And I mean diversity of every kind. I really can’t wait to read the rest of the series because there’s so many characters that I want more of.
Now the romance? Top tier. You really can’t go wrong with a commit-phobe ice skater and a hockey captain who is just one of the best book boyfriends I have ever read. I really liked how they were frenemies and became real lovers. It was truly natural development. And man…that spice? That smut? I was not expecting it to be so hot.
I can’t wait for the rest of the series, this is truly one of the BEST sports romances, college romances I’ve read in a long, long time. And for this authors debut novels? Hands down sensational....more

If you’ve been wanting something similar to The Deal by Elle Kennedy and the Perfect First by Maya Hughes, seriously look NO further. This book has me swooning, it had the typical feel of a college sports romance but holy hell that SPICE. I was not prepared. I also wasn’t prepared for how they fell for each other and how the male main character was SO soft for her. I also was not prepared for how relatable they both were.
This is fake dating goodness. Spice goodness. College romance goodness and sports romance royalty.

Listen to me right now, if you’re looking for a solid college romance series:I didn’t think dare you to hate me could be topped and then I read this. Listen to me right now, if you’re looking for a solid college romance series: READ THIS RIGHT NOW. Lindon U is about to be the next best thing mark my words. The emotional pull, the depth of the characters, even the side characters who I hope and pray have a story. I literally cannot wait for this series to keep going. One thing about B.Celeste? She writes from the heart. She really does. And she’s incredible at it. I have yet to read a bad book by her.
This book does deal with some intense trauma, and I really relate and respect the approach it took, because to tell you the truth, I really related with the main female character so please check triggers but know that this book is so worth it.
Also this was golden retriever male energy and I loved it....more

This has the potential to be great, not even kidding I was really feeling this, I thought this was gonna be the next best college romance series but damn did it fall short and I’ll tell you why: Violet.
It’s incredible how an entire character can ruin a good book, especially the way she was written. I understand you were hurt but man did she annoy me and annoyed me more when she got in the way of the main couple. I really liked Jordan and Daisy what I didn’t like is how influenced Daisy was by her cousin Violet. This book was good up until the 70% mark and then I was getting more and more annoyed. ...more

All I keep thinking is love. just love.

I loveeeeed this. I’m so mad at myself for not reading this sooner and not knowing this book existed. The only reason this didn’t get 5 stars is because I needed a better epilogue and about 100 more pages. Max the hero is all focused, but he isn’t your typical jock. He’s smart, respectful and has a good head on his shoulders. Sunny the herione is about the same, adorable as can be and respectable in every way.
I just loved these two. The combined meeting event that some would call fate and the re-meeting again in the best of circumstances. Legitmately, these two were so great. Ilsa has a way of sucking you into the universe and wanting every character to get their own story, this has the potential to be a series. This also had the potential to be steamy but it was a solid 2.5 on the chili pepper scale. I wish we had more, the book needed more. I would categorize as this as slow burn because these two defintely take their time actually hooking up and I appreciate that.
Defintely recommend for a quick solid sports romance read. ...more

I realized my review for this sucked, the one I posted earlier today so let's try this again lmao. Anyways.
This was dramatic 4 Home Sweet Home Stars
I realized my review for this sucked, the one I posted earlier today so let's try this again lmao. Anyways.
This was dramatic as hell. I mean literally, I felt like I was watching a CW show, but like a good one. Imagine if One Tree Hill and Friday Night Lights had a baby: it would be this book. We meet Molly, who is an English transplant in the middle of Alabama. And let me tell you, Molly deserves a fucking hug. I felt for this girl SO much. Her life mf sucks. Point blank. Then, you meet Rome- Romeo whatever you want to call him, who is literally the bad boy come to life. Rome is THE football player in college, and when he meets Molly, his life turns upside down in the best way.
Here's the thing, I am not really fan of insta-connection, insta-love but in this case I really did not mind. I truthfully believe it's because Tillie Cole is a magician in the way she writes. Molly and Romeo have an instant connection, like their namesakes (you'll understand when you read this book) they are meant to be. It's really just that simple. This book is so much deeper than a sports romance, I wish the author really explored Romeo's side of things and the absolute atrocity he had to call a family. Molly is truly his breathe of fresh air.
I also really liked the sad characters, they added an ounce of relief when needed, especially the girls, talk about an incredible girl clique to have. As for the villains in this book? I mean, there is no other way to say it either than these are the villains you do not feel sorry for, you just want them to straight up die.
This was a solid start to a series. I mean you can't go wrong here. It's a deeper sport's romance. It's the bad boy and the nerdy girl. It's some good ol' steam and mostly it's a pretty decent, quick read in my opinion....more

Dude. Dude. Finally. I didn’t know I needed this till now. I mean, I wanted to love this series so hard but couldn’t. But then I got this book and it was glorious. I wish we could’ve gotten more Harmony and Holt. Holt is everything I want in a man, Harmony is bad ass and truly phenomenal. I loved these two together. Makes me want to reread the books I didn’t even like in this series to get a glimpse of them.
Also Meg, if you read your reviews I demand, pray and hope we get a book on Priya....more

What a freaking classic sports-romance but with a brand new twist. I loved everything about this. Especially the two main leads. They were so freaking refreshing. The hero for one wasn’t a douche bag but an actual level headed, charismatic athlete and the herione was a sweet, misunderstood but wonderful girl. I love how the sparks gradually built up, I like how almost realistic the pace seemed.

Y’all. I don’t even know what to say. If you are a fan of The Deal by Elle Kennedy aka the Off Campus universe and have been trying to find a college sports romance that even measures up to it, look no freaking further.
This was SPECTACULAR. I laughed so hard. The boys- River - Crew - Hollis are absolutely hilarious and drool worthy. I loved their friendship, I loved their brotherhood. It reminded me so heavily of The Off Campus boys.
Now, now for the love story. River, RIVER. Oh man. What a guy. Do guys like him even exist in college? Because if so, I clearly missed out. River is complex, he’s kind and he has the world on his shoulders but he’s trying to deal.
Now, now, Anastasia? My kind of girl. Maybe I felt a kinship with her because she’s aiming for law school but she isn’t a Barbie blonde and didn’t have the most convential background. She’s also just such an awesome gal.
And when you put these two together: SPARKS. But what I loved about this is this is actually slow burn. These two don’t get together, let alone kiss till towards the very end. I genuinely really loved their romance, it went from strangers to enemies to lovers to friendship and then to love. It felt perfectly natural in a world of fiction.
This book could have easily been 200 more pages and I would’ve goobled up every single word. I haven’t loved a college sports romances like this in a long, long time. I cannot WAIT for the other two in this series, getting a glimpse of those boys makes me so excited for their own stories....more
Sometimes people sneak up on you and suddenly you don’t know how you ever lived without them.”
This is the book that got me to read again. I was in a Sometimes people sneak up on you and suddenly you don’t know how you ever lived without them.”
This is the book that got me to read again. I was in a book rut for awhile and back in 2016 when I discovered this book, I thought I was going to be disappointed. I was severely wrong. There's a reason why this has such a fan following. This book is beyond any expectation. It sets the bar for contemporary romances and even sports romances.
Garret and Hannah are probably one of my favorite couples ever. They are laugh out loud funny. The side characters who end up becoming main characters in their own books are all lovable. This book builds so easily on relationships and friendships it's hard not to believe it's real life. The Deal is probably one of two books I always recommend to Romance lovers. I would even recommend it to someone who isn't a romance lover, because that is how good this book is. Elle Kennedy brings to life a set of characters in the off-campus series that you want to revisit over and over again. And you will.
Garrett and Hannah however, will be the one couple that cannot be topped. Garrett is probably top 3 book boyfriends in existence and Hannah is a female character who is no means weak but continuously strives to be better. It's so important that I am not annoyed when I read characters and these two did not annoy me at all, I wanted them to be real so I can be friends with them.
Elle might have done a spin off with the Briar U series but I hope one day she revisits these two and we get another glimpse of them. I cannot recommend this book or series enough. Truly one of my favorites ever.
“Unbelievable. Every girl at this college would cut her frickin’ arm off to help me out. But this one? Runs away like I just asked her to murder a cat so we could sacrifice it to Satan.”
Update 10/30/20: I’ve read this book atleast 5 times since it released and on my possible 6th-10th reread I still fall so deeply in love with Hannah and Garrett. Everything about them is so perfect. This book is so well paced. The issues that are talked about, the maturity level. Just the characters in general.
Elle Kennedy really made a masterpiece with this and then continued to make one of the of the best college romance / sport series in the history of romances. I don’t know how this series can ever be topped because it makes you FEEL. It makes you want these characters to be real because they are so freaking awesome.
Just ugh. This book. Every single year I’ve read it since it came out, it just holds up. G and Wellsey forever. I hope and wish one day we get a novel continuation of these two in their late 20’s with the rest of the crew....more
Ok. Alright. Listen. Before the pitch forks are thrown my way I just...didnt like the pacing. It was so fast. So fast. And 3-3.5 “Half Measured” Stars
Ok. Alright. Listen. Before the pitch forks are thrown my way I just...didnt like the pacing. It was so fast. So fast. And actually the story was all over the place. At first, I really felt for December, I was like shit this girl’s life is a mess. And then boom! love. I felt December could barely get a grasp of herself. And I almost found her selfish?? in the way she handled josh.
Also, bro. The people around her a MESS. I was like girl, pls get a new crew or like find something healthy but I understood why things were falling apart it just seems it all got ok again rather quickly.
The saving grace of this book was Josh. Josh...Josh is perfect in every way. Literally I mean he is a solid book boyfriend. He is perfection, he is hot and he knows how to take care of a girl. Josh was just wholesome in a way I didn’t think possible and the patience he had with December? *chefs kiss* I just didn’t feel the pacing, I wish there was more depth in the book? More flashbacks maybe? Just more building.
I’m definitely going to read part 2 of their story because I know they have a semi sequel in their series and I’m hoping that the rest of this series is better than the first because I just wasn’t feeling this sadly....more
