One named Grace who hardly ever speaks and Mirage who can move so quickly he disappears. But, as the two men train - and are "enhanced" they begin to feel a bizarre connection to one another... not only can they read each others' thoughts but their once-banished emotions are revived.
The action in this story is great. It's really well-written, clear and I mean, I don't know much about being a sniper or an assassin but the lingo seemed realistic to me!
I will definitely read more of this series....more

The one thing that stands out for me is the pacing of this novel. Now, that might not seem important to some people, but BOY is it when it's a horror! Matthew has nailed the pacing ... this novel starts off with a slightly odd mysterious camp that videographers are being sent to. Then the plot slowly winds up like a clunky roller coaster until you're approaching the end and hanging on for dear life!
I loved the main character, Ander... actually all of the characters were quite unique which is always a pleasure to read. It's scary, cute, gross and engaging! I feel like that's a good set of words for a horror novel! ...more

Sometimes, it's really nice to read a romance in which there's no massive trauma or conflict. That's not to say there aren't speed bumps for the main characters to overcome. There are. They just read like normal - real-world speed bumps. Sometimes, things can't be fixed and you just learn to live with them. I liked that.
As someone who lives with chronic illness, I really appreciated the approach to a MC living with chronic pain. It really is something that is difficult for others to understand. I liked that Ash really fought to express that he didn't need fixing... just acceptance and acknowledgement that he knew his own health and body. Big stuff right there!
The family is lovely and I hope I see where there's room for this series to continue. The Darling family were lovely - all the characters developed enough that I'd be delighted to see what they get up to in the future.
