The Cemetery of Forgotten Books series are among my favorite books of all time and I was devastated when Carlos Ruiz Zafon passed away in 2020. Before his death, he put together this slim collection of short stories to be published posthumously. I'm normally not much of a short story reader - I'll read one here or there, but rarely delve into full collections - but Zafon's prose is so good that I just tore through these. Some tie in loosely to the Cemetary of Forgotten Books, others are standalone stories, but they all have the same Gothic, moody atmosphere. And, of course, they are all written so gorgeously that I'd like to curl up with the sentences and take a nap. This will surely appeal to anyone who has loved Zafon's other works.
