It's light action-adventure steampunk with a dash of humour. Doesn't turn into paranormal romance and doesn't get too dark or overly dramatic. It's reliably light-hearted fun read, designed to put a smile on your face. Perfect as 'pick me up' read after heavier darker books.

Great ending to this wonderful adventure-fantasy trilogy. Since it’s the last book it is really difficult to say anything about the plot without major spoilers. Suffice to say if you take all the action adventure, mystery, sense of danger and magic from the previous books – crank up the suspense, the pace, the intensity and level of threat – this is what you get. Highly recommended! [image] Veiled Temple
My only minor grumble is that some of the beautiful friendships that formed through this series I would have preferred to remain friendships without any romantic undercurrents. That said, there is very little romance in this series and it doesn’t affect the plot - so don’t let it discourage you. [image] The Portal
The imagery in this last book is incredible and I couldn’t resist the temptation to find fitting pictures to some of the places and characters. I hope it will make up for the lack of reflection on the plot. Enjoy! :) [image] The Hunters

Even better than the first one – intense and action packed epic fantasy adventure that grabs you from the first pages and doesn’t let go. Less mountains and travelling this time, but plenty of magic, mystery and investigation inside the city as the brutal murders of mages start threatening the survival of the whole Ninavel. Recommended to everyone who likes fantasy.

Nice balance of both ground and space action with a good dose of humour. Interplanetary politics and space battles added enough sci-fi flavour to satisfy my appetite. On the whole very enjoyable light read.

My own fault foToo much action not enough of sci-fi for my taste. I think spy action thriler with near future technology would be a better definition. My own fault for not reading the blurb - this is near future (only 20 years from now) - and all action is on earth where various organisations are fighting for control over the new emerging technology. That new technology or drug is the fictional part, but it's not exactly new idea or very exciting... All together there was not enough science fiction here to grip my imagination....more

I enjoyed the action adventure part, character introductions, world with interesting magic system and the heist for the most part.
Romances on the other hand were a bit too see-through and naïve for my liking and there is something to be said about quality vs quantity – three romantic storylines is a bit much for one book. In general I find YA romances rather unsatisfying – all that angst and drama and no sex. Why? Better the other way around.
Heist was interesting and mostly enjoyable although there were moments when extraordinary skills and planning and lucky circumstances were a bit hard to believe. Tank was definitely a stretch too far.
On the whole it didn’t blow my mind, but I had some fun moments. ...more
