It flowed from the pages and influenced my everyday life. So often people mention books that will NOT leave you alone, and I felt that way about this book… it stuck in my head, demanding that I put all other things off and finish reading it.
The story was wonderfully well written, and the characters are so dyamic, who doesn’t want to escape what they think is their fate? This book made me want to run away and have beautiful adventures in forigen lands. The romance was well done, believable, and I really loved how it all come together in the end. I am sad to see that this ISN’T a series, because this author’s writing is too beautiful to not continue in this world!
A few things I adored: **Indian Folklore plus bits of greek mythology? The history lover in me went wild. **I love how the world believed in horoscopes and how they influenced things. **Mayavati was outstanding for a lead female. She was resilient, focused, smart, and all around fantastic, and I would be honored to know someone like her. **THE WORLD! It’s so well described and so beautiful, I want to live there.
For this book, the cover got me. Between the gorgeous cover, and an endorsement from Sarah J Maas who I love, I knew I had to get my hands on this book, and luckily, NetGalley & the publisher allowed me to read it early!
Highly recommend for fantasy lovers and even those who just generally like YA. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

The Hellhound world Rue has created is among my favorites. I tend to find myself mentioning it to people often! This story is no exception. Filled with Vampires, Blood, Loyalty, Lust, and so much more. It's exactly what you would expect from Rue, and it will grab you and pull you in hard. This is adult fiction, but as someone who isn't a major fan of all erotica, I will tell you, Rue has the secret. She's able to craft a story with so much plot, background and fantastic story, and weave in the adult elements to complete the picture fully. The two go hand in hand, and wouldn't work without the other. If you like dark reads, and vampires, you should pick this book up right away. It's fantastic, and it's well worth diving head first into the lush, lovely world that is Rue Volley fiction. Well done, and cannot wait for the Hellhound series to be released!

I didn't believe I even had a CHANCE at an ARC of this book, but it appeared in my mailbox, and Suzie is now my fairy godmother! Thank you! :)
Before I read the book, i heard the hype. I listened to people fawn over it on BEA vlogs, and I saw Sarah J Maas gave it 5 stars (I was coming off a Court of Thorns and Roses Book Hangover), so I knew I must read it.
You will not regret pre-ordering this book. Not even once. The only thing you'll regret is that Book 2: WindWitch isn't ready yet. Prepare to read it in one day and wait.
I loved this book. I didn't know if I would because the beginning starts out slow. You need to know the world, you need to know Safi and Iseult, and you need to know their powers. The book starts in the middle of some action, which for me is something I love, but though the world building and background is needed, it was slow for me, but I pushed onward. Why? Because I love that this book is feauring two kick ass best friends. Two strong females who would do anything for each other. Soul Mates of the friend variety. That's rare, and Dennard does it well.
Once you hit about half way, this story will claim your life. It's going to come first before work, parties, pizza (gasp, I know), movies, Netflix, and sleep. It burrows into your head, and it sits there going "READ ME"
I really couldn't decide who to love and who to hate in this book. There's so many diverse characters, male and female, and so many misconceptions and preconceived notions about them that you really have to dig out from under the layers to figure out who is truly good, who is chaotic good (they exist outside of D&D), and who's truly bad. Dennard really did a masterful job at viewing prejudice from all different angles in this book, and showing what you've been told isn't exactly what's true.
Now, we discuss the love you/hate you, walking a thin line towards explosive relationship between Safi and Merik. Holy cow, those two. I couldn't decide if I was firmly on bored, or if I though Safi was crazy at times (she is, but what females aren't!). They have this dynamite chemistry that you can't quite pin down, but it's beautifully written and I'm dying for more! (Add me to book 2's list ASAP!). There's a scene where they dance together, and I swear, I didn't breathe the whole time. Amazing.
I'd like a windwitch (hint hint book 2 & a man) of my own, please and thanks! :)
Finally, I loved how steeped in culture and belief this book was. Dennard created a lush and beautiful world, and filled it with myths, legends, religions and so much more. I'm a fantasy girl, through and through, and this ranks among the greats for me! I made a spot next to my Tolkien leather bound edition, and Game of Thrones books, and placed TruthWitch there (It didn't stay long before my boyfriend snatched it up to read.) This book is well written, amazingly detailed, and it's just lavish to read. You will get lost in Dennard's world, and when you resurface, let me know. We can be hungover together until Book 2: WindWitch comes along.
This was one of the best books I've read in 2015, and I've read many books. It's up there with Six of Crows, Court of Thorns and Roses, and Red Queen. Dennard is a powerhouse, and belongs on every shelf! I will be hunting down Dennard's earlier works, as this is my first adventure with her, and I cannot wait for what's to come! Pre-order your copy now, and get some cool bonus items! It's worth it! I just one-clicked! :)...more

Ficklin you are literally trying to kill me. It's official, I've heard rumors that the author giggles at our pain, but I know it now...she's evil & wonderful all in one.
This is book 2, if you haven't read book 1, please go to that RIGHT NOW. I'm timing you, because it's THAT good. And book 2 does NOT let you down, actually, if they made book 2 into a TV show, I would not need anything else to watch for like a month, maybe longer. This book pushes off from where Book 1 left us, curled into a ball, waiting for more.. and it takes us through an insane rollercoaster of emotion. Sophie, now Catherine, has been battered, beaten and bruised by those at Russian court, but she's not giving up. She's going to rise above everyone who tried to push her down, and my god, she does it WELL! This character is so well described that I feel like I know her, I feel like Sophie was my best friend, and I watched her grow and change, I watched her heart break and heal again, and I can't wait to see what she does in the next book.
In this book, we dive more into Catherine, the queen, we see her start to grow into a ruler, a leader, and more importantly, a real woman. She has tied herself to Peter, for better or worse, and it seems worse is the way it's going to be, but now she's got Sergi at her side, to guard and protect her. He is definately my favorite. Move over Alexander, Sergi is here. Handsome, skilled, smart and cunning. Exactly what Catherine needs. Living life a a female in this time was hard, but a female royal? It's almost impossible not to misstep against someone, and that kept me on the edge of my seat, and made me want to read all day long instead of work. Catherine learned some hard lesson, but even as it killed us, it elevated her to a new level, and a new stage of the game
This book, much like book 1, leaves us waiting, wondering, dying for more. The way Ficklin ended this novel is so perfect, we know what Catherine/Sophie's plan is from here on out, and I for one CANNOT wait to see it happen. There are people in this novel just begging to be kicked off their high throne.
I honestly DO NOT want to wait for the final book! I don't! I wish i could throw a 3 year old level temper tantrum and get myself a copy right now, but that's just not going to happen.. sadly. (If I thought it would work, I'd be doing it FYI). This book is not to be missed. It raises the bar (which I thought couldn't get higher after book 1) and then jumps over it like an olympic pole vaulter, Ficklin clearly shows a mastery for the craft and for the ability to reduce her audience to a tiny little ball of emotion, but I wouldn't trade it for the world! Bring on book 3! I'm ready!...more

Anna is a native american living in Switzerland, and feeling completely lost. She wants to be a good wife, but she ends up entangled in torrid affairs.
Normally, I like woman who are strong, who know what they want, and are going after it. Anna is not that woman. She's passive, she's flawed. Her phycological profile is intriguing, and God, I hated her. I loved hating her, and to be honest, it was refreshing it! It was a gripping well written novel, in which we didn't love the characters. That takes talent on the part of the author. You've gotta have skills if your characters are so hated.
This novel is different, frustrating, wonderful and a breath of fresh air! Very good!

Review by Cianna for Sunshine & Mountains
This is such a refreshing book! I’m so annoyed it took me so long to read and enjoy this story, but glad to hear that the next two books in the series are already out! That means I don’t have to wait. Elementals is a really interesting territory for a book, I like freedom it provides, diving into something that hasn’t been covered as often as other characters, and I love the backstory, the soul mates, de ja vu, and the past lives. These are all things that interest me quite a bit, so I really dived in, and loved every minute of it. I liked the way Maryah developed, and how her relationship with Nathaniel came about, which just really illustrates the very fine line between love and hate. I like that the author played around with first impressions in this book, and what we get when we look a little harder. I wish more of the major storyline was introduced into the book, but I can see the need to address Maryah before we can jump into any of the other action, but I like the places it did connect to the big storyline, and those moments where you find out something critical, and you are just picking your jaw up from the floor. In a world flooded with YA books, both great and terrible, this book shines as a well written, well thought out debut novel, which really pulls in the reader and makes them anxious for the next book, and the furthering of Nathaniel & Maryah’s story! Plus, it didn’t hurt all the mentions of Colorado and Colorado Springs, where I live. I love when books pull from things I know! It makes everything a little more real! Thank you to the author for making my life a little more exciting for a few hours, and giving me a new series to love! I can't wait to get my hands on the next ones!! :)

I was excited to receive this book from Penguin to review, just reading the synopsis, but when I started the actual book is when I felt really lucky. This is such a touching, emotional story based around really realistic characters who people can completely relate to. It’s all about life’s changes, and if it’s too late. When is too late? Herron does an outstanding job in this novel really showing us true characters with real struggles. This is the first book by this author I’ve read but I love her voice. She’s the perfect storyteller for this story, and she really find the perfect balance in some really tough topics. You’re faced with a lot of broken people and dark topics in this book, but Herron manages to show us the beauty in the brokenness, and the hope in the hopeless. You start to really see beyond what’s expected into a deeper, more beautiful story. You see how one choice can affect so many people, and you see just how people choose to handle that . You’ve got a mother struggling with the death of her son, and the loss of the daughter she never knew. The daughter trying to figure out her life without a mom, and a Father who never knew about his daughter, and has been crushed, not only by the loss of his son, but the loss of his marriage as well. Nolen is one of those characters that you see beauty shining from brokeness, he’s a convicted felon, gave up everything that was his life before, and has fallen all the way to the bottom, but his struggle and courage is something so beyond touching. I’d gladly read another book by Herron in the future because her way with characters is exactly what we need more of. Complex, confused, broken but beautiful. The author allows us to see beyond what’s in front of our faces in this novel to what’s really there. There’s such a wonderful theme of forgiveness and healing in this book, and it really brings tears to your eyes LITERALLY, I cried. I suggest this novel to people I meet in bookstores now, my book club, and friends and family. It’s beautiful and haunting and it’s perfect. Thank you Rachel Herron!

What a book! :) I have vary particular taste in books, and so I always try to look closely at a book before I pick it up. I read the back of this one, I saw the comparisons, and the endorsements, but I wasn't 100% sold. I'm glad I decided to hop on this blog tour anyway! This book brings South Africa to life in vivid color. This book wasn't perfect, hence the four stars instead of five, but I thought the author has such a talent, I was captivated. First books aren't always a perfect home run, it doesn't mean it's not worth a try!
The main character, I felt, needed something more. I couldn't really relate to her, only because of her dramatics at times, but I truly wanted to. She is left penniless, and in those times, you have two options, work or marry. She chooses the second, and marries a doctor. I don't know if the author wanted to make us feel a violent urge to shake the silly out of the main character, but I wished I could quite a few times. Her choices, and reactions, though probably slightly understandable in the time period were upsetting to the reader. She falls for the wrong man, when the right man is in front of her, but she can't see it. She's the portrait of a naive, young, pig headed girl. She has a single minded focus, and that causes her to do some really dumb things in the book.
I do think the saving grace for this novel (and the reason for a strong 4 star rating) comes from the author's wonderful ability to paint her scenes! Wow! She's got such an outstanding talent. I felt the heat, I was on the ship, and I knew it all. She did a wonderful job bringing her reader along, and getting them settled right into the scene. Her main character might not be the best we've ever heard of, but for a historical romance, the history part of this is OUTSTANDING, it's interesting while being mostly correct and realistic. She's got a talent, there's no question, and I expect to see another book from her, and I think, she'll surprise us.
All this book needed to blow away the 5 stars would be a stronger, more logical main character who the readers could relate to. That's something I'm sure the author can work on, and blow us away in her next book. Would I recommend this? Yes, I think I would, honestly. Yes, there's a few issues, but I think this book does something beautiful at times, and it's worth reading! :)

Marie F Crow is brilliant. This lady cannot be stuck in a corner. She wrote amazing horror, and now she brings us a light-hearted, adorable children’s book with such a positive message! You cannot stop Marie F Crow.
I am beyond excited that I got to read this book. Yes, I know I’m not the target audience and it took me a total of like 10 minutes to really read and look at the pictures, but gosh almighty, it’s just too cute. I love the zombie, I want a pet zombie for myself. I want to give them as Christmas gifts to everyone I know (and include a copy of this book with it!). If you have young children in your life, consider grabbing this book. The illustrations are precious, and no, this book is not introducing children to horror. It’s a story about not judging people by their appearance, a valuable lesson for any child growing up. Marie F Crow weaves this tale for small readers (and big readers) with the amazing talent she uses in other books, but brings it to the perfect level for a beginner reader. This book will allow you to sit down with your kids, grandkids, godchild, ect and enjoy a funny, adorable story, and really look at the message behind it.
I don’t know what more I can say, except that you need to give this book a chance. It’s just one of the best picture books I’ve seen for kids lately, and I think for the modern generation of parents, this zombie with a heart of gold is something just out there enough to be fun, and allow you to break the mold of the same old, same old kid’s books, and add a new book to your family’s collection. You can tell Marie F Crow put her heart into this book. It’s touching, beautiful, and such a great little book! :)

This was wonderful! I was obsessed with Abigail from the first book. This sweet child who has a zombie as a pet. It was wonderful way to help children work on acceptance with such a fun twist that’s so relevant to our society today. Zoo Day is even better. In this next story, Abigail is going to the zoo, but once she gets there her poor zombie has to deal with the people who don’t accept him. He just wanted to play with the children and smilie at the babies. In this story, Abigail’s uncle has to help people come to understand just because the zombie looks different and a bit scary, that he’s not harmful and he’s actually very friendly. I loved this story. I loved when the zombie swam with penguins and the monkeys stole his arm! This is just precious! Plus, The Risen fans will get a special easter egg of an appearance of one of the members of G.R.I.T! How great is that?! Overall, fantastic book with a great lesson and humor for the whole family! Check this out as a wonderful addition to your family library this holiday season!

What a interesting paranormal romance! This book started out slow for me. Might be a personal thing, but it didn’t grab me right off the bat. I was pulled in once things got going and I’m completely glad for that! This is a fantastic book, and I am only on the four star, and teetering really close to five, because I like books to grab me right away. Personal preference. This a paranormal novel, it’s got a lot more going on under the surface. Yes, Lisa works at a PR firm, and she’s good at what she does, and her hott boss is hitting on her. We’ve seen that story, but what Morgan does differently in this book is introduce the supernatural elements. That’s what makes this book different then all the others! This is a battle of heaven and hell, and Lisa signed herself on to the wrong side. Alex, the wonderful sweet counterpart to the evil boss, is going to fight for Lisa no matter what it takes. This was a good story, once I got into it, it kept me reading, and I was engaged. I don’t usually read romances, unless they are paranormal, but this was pretty good. The sex scenes were quite steamy for those of you who look for that in a read, you will not be disappointed. Overall, this is a great read! Don’t miss this! Big things coming for Julie Morgan! :)

Water’s Edge is a very relationship driven book, It weaves a tale of people and their connections to each other, and what it really takes to be a family. It’s a very interesting book and is a good fit for the woman’s fiction genre. The book is filled with drama, and emotional issues, and really gets on a deeper level. I really enjoyed the way that Riddell writes. She weaves the story so well, and you get wrapped up in it, and you really relate to her characters. This book is really driven by the characters that Riddell has created and the interconflicts we find them in. I thought it was a unique and interesting look at family dynamics, and very realistic as well. I enjoyed seeing each individual character’s struggle, and their journey. Overall, I thought the book to be well written, touching and a very good read. I’d recommend it to any fans of women’s fiction out there.

But this year, I’m making more time for non-fiction in my life, both serious and humorous, and this lovely, touching piece of creative non fiction fit right in. It’s a story of really understanding what normal is while you are struggling with a disease that keeps taking your “normal” and throwing it out the window. The author is inspiring. I enjoyed how the book was structured, chronologically, and it didn’t get too overwhelming, with event after event. She’s got a nice, flowing, quality to her writing, which allowed me to enjoy the memoir without feeling like I had to keep up with each date hitting me in the face. Her struggles are something you don’t really think about if you are a healthy american, you don’t realize the toil a chronic illness takes on the person, their life, and their family. The stories about school and people telling her that she wouldn’t succeed hurt. We live in a world where we believe everyone is equal, but you can clearly see here people who weren’t willing to take the time to look past the illness at a very smart, talented individual. I enjoyed this book, I cheered for her and her successes and I think this book will open a lot of eyes that previously didn’t notice or understand this kind of journey. I’m completely glad I read it, and will suggest it to others.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read, and as I was reading, I kept turning to my boyfriend, and say, "Hey, guess what just happened in my book", and this time, he was actually interested. I love the succubus idea for this novel. clever, interesting and unique. Plus, RB is such a fun character. She's got strength, smarts, style and a little bit of sass. The idea of the levels of power the telepaths have also interested me a lot, I love that the author took the time to really describe all the gifts in the back of the book, for those of us who really wanted to know more, without weighing down the actual story with all this extra detail. I also thought the intro was quite helpful to set up the clans, the powers, and the general behind the scenes plot for the novel. Going into the story knowing that allowed a lot more of the story to slide by without needing excess explanation. Interesting plot angle to tie succubi to the sex trade. I would have never seen that angle coming for a book about succubi but I actually really loved the idea as a plot. I thought that the scenes were described well enough, maybe a little more could've been added, but it wasn't really necessary. I know a lot of reviews mentioned that a lot of RB gifts didn't get fully explained, but she does list them out and the back of the book goes into a lot of great detail for that, so I didn't really feel like it hindered the story in anyway. I loved that it was set in Europe and especially Ireland. It's just such a lovely place, so I love when books are set somewhere a little exotic from my boring, everyday, united states life. Overall, the plot has twist and turns, and the major one dealing with the girl they were trying to track down was the one that really got me. But I loved being surprised, I loved this world, and the characters were fantastic even if some of them suck as people. Check this book out, it's a great paranormal read with mystery and humor! It's perfect.

This book really caught me off guard. The premise was interesting, but I was worried that a story based on a patent attorney wasn't going to really hold my attention, but as I kept creeping deeper into the world of this "cure for cancer" my brain alarms started going off, and the book just took off for me. It's just got such a great way about it. The intricate details of the crafting of the storyline and the characters were just so good, each little turn we saw something and our brains just filed it away for later, and a nice big "ah ha" moment. The writer obviously crafts a compelling tale in this story. I mean, at first, it's a bit slow, but once you really get into the ride, you are thrown back and forth, and you start to be confused on which way is up. I loved it. I think the attention to detail in the book is really what makes this such a great mystery. We're given clues all along, but we don't really notice them because of the way things are written, and it's intentional. I usually always guess the ending of mystery novels before I get there, but this one, though I did pick up on some clues, I did not see it coming. The author wants you to get to the end and be shocked (and I was), but then in your head, you start to see it, understand it, and it hits you like a freight train but in a really good way. Don't miss out on picking up this book. I really didn't want the book to be over, and secretly i'm hoping for a sequel, just so I can know more, but unlikely. It's a wild ride, but one I believe you'll thoroughly enjoy.

Abby and Nathaniel, are back in this book, and Abby is being trained as Nathaniel’s submissive, but there’s a slight problem. Nathaniel starts to fall for Abby, something he’d never do with one of his previous submissives. Will he be able to handle transitioning to the role of lover, friend, protector, from his previous role as Dom?
Overall, this romance story, falls in the vien of our popular genre defining romances Fifty Shades of Grey and Crossfire series, the man is distance, cold, powerful and just wants sex, the difference in this one in how much we delve into the world of BDSM. This book has a lot more to it then FSOG did, so readers, if you are unsure, understand that this is a completely different lifestyle choice, and this isn’t just a vanilla sex book. The work is well written and researched, and the characters play their roles quite well. The scenes are very described, and stay true to that lifestyle.
The main plot in the book is Abby & Nathaniel’s relationship, and how it’s going to develop, and where it’s going to go. We begin with submissive training, but really we’re just building on their relationship from previous books. It did seem that they reached the end without as many twists and turns as we’re used to in this genre, but I think the characters are written well, and act honestly, and that really reflects on their love for each other, and the reason they are trying for their HEA.
I didn’t read the earlier books before I read this book, but though I’m sure you’ll be thrown right back in with this book, even if you haven’t read the series, the author builds the characters so well, you arent’ at a loss. I suggest reading the whole series though, to get the whole feel for Abby and Natheniel’s relationship. I thought this was a wonderful book, and a change from the heavy hitting names we constantly hear in this genre. Tara Me Sue wrote a wonderful love story, that deals with a different lifestyle, but overall it’s the story of the love of two people, and what it takes to make it to forever!

It didn’t hinder me in any way, but seeing other reviews, if you read previous books, you’ll come into the book with some preconceptions, which doesn’t seem to be a bad thing either.
Raven is a tattoo artist, young, vibrant, loud, all the things you’d think about when picturing a female tattoo artist. Jonah, the male lead, is sophisticated, father, lawyer, completely opposite of what Raven is. They meet over a tattoo and thing spiral out of control from there.
For those of you who aren’t erotic romance readers, this wouldn’t be for you. Unlike some erotic romances there isn’t a big story to go along with all the sex, besides the story of the couple’s relationship in and outside of the bedroom. The sex is quite kinky, a little more then I was interested in really, but the story of their relationship is sweet. Raven is broken into a million pieces, but she hides it well. Jonah fights to get Raven to open up about her life and her feelings. He and her go back and forth, but there’s some really wonderful moments where she opened up to Jonah and finally realizes there’s someone who will be there for her.
Overall, my feelings were mixed on this, only because romance without a big plot usually doesn’t interest me as much, but I enjoyed the elements of their relationship building and also seeing Raven soften up. Jonah is a good man for her, and their chemistry is there right from the start.
Romance reader, pick up this book! I think you’ll really like it, it’s got well written sex scenes, sweet romantic moments and two very interesting characters!
