Or at least a fan of Lucy Foley - this is probably more accurate as I ordered her other novel The Hunting Party a few days ago. She is definitely an author who likes to write character-driven novels, and I am 100% the reader who loves those.
The Guest List is about someone turning up dead at a highly anticipated wedding and the events that lead up to that death. Therefore, the time is not linear and goes back-and-forth, while simultaneously switching from perspectives: the bride, the plus one, the best man, the wedding planner, the bridesmaid, and the body (in a 3rd person POV). So if you aren’t a fan of multiple perspectives, maybe this isn’t a book for you. Though, I wouldn’t write it off so quickly!
If you prefer one-perspective in a novel, I’m right there with you, but Foley did such a good job with balancing all the characters that I barely noticed there were 6 perspectives. Each character has their own unique voice, troubles, faults, desires, and characteristics; that said, they all somehow connect together, and it’s not until later that you figure out that connection.
Truly, I was blown away with this book. I have to give it up to Costco for having great selections of books, because otherwise, I may have not picked up this book, given bookstores are closed and I did not have it saved anywhere online (Amazon, Book Depository, etc.).
If you are a fan of thrillers, mysteries, or novels with strong characters, I really think this is your next big read....more

Incredibly eye-opening. I didn't know 50% of the stuff in here and I'm shocked schools don't teach more about this content.

Although it reads more like a textbook, because it's all factual, I didn't mind it. That said, if you're not in the mood for a strictly nonfiction book, I'd hold off on this one - but I would definitely still add it to your TBR list....more
