I did like this, but not as much as others in the series. It's another where their lives seem to maybe not quite fit? It was more resolved in this 3.5

Hmm. I think some of my problem here is I liked the couple a lot and they felt just right and a good fit and like THEY knew that, so when the conflictHmm. Anyway, I enjoyed this. It's one of those those books that lets its heroines be real jerks at times, so definitely hated them at times, but I appreciated that in the end. And it is indeed a very queer book.
Buuut I just don't think it nailed the ending!! It didn't all come together for me....more

Anyway, it--along with other books I'm slowly reading this month--has made me realize that so much of my reluctance to DNF is that there's usually SOMETHING in the book that makes me want to just . . . see what happens! See how something is dealt with!

Ehhh. It's been a while since I read a small town romance, so I kind of enjoyed that aspect of it and I liked the heroine. She got to be a fully roundEhhh. But overall the book was just kind of there. I didn't really understand why the aunt hated her and then didn't and then did again.
The standing stones stuff was weird and maybe insensative.

I'm not sure if I read a slightly different one or if my brain just decided to do its own thing, but I thought it was going to be about the hero and the heroine in an isolated cabin somewhere and maybe something bad was happening in the outside world, but they don't really know.
Um, no, it was about something bad that happened in the contemporary world that essentially sent the world in lockdown. I am familiar with such events! But it also made me go, well, I guess we are better off! We still have electricity and the internet! So that was a weird reading experience. I almost put it down because um, too close to real world events, but I didn't.
Anyway, the romance was very half-baked. I liked Sela growing into her own, but I'm not sure that storyline got all the way there either. (view spoiler)[I was disappointed she gave up her leadership in the epilogue. (hide spoiler)]
