Ugh, the description I read of this was something like, "accidentally end up in bed together" and I wish I'd known that meant, "one of those books wheUgh, the description I read of this was something like, "accidentally end up in bed together" and I wish I'd known that meant, "one of those books where he assumes she's a prostitute and has sex with her!" (She is drugged on medicine and goes along with it, but is hardly in any shape to consent.)

I always thought these were romances, but I would actually call them primarily political fantasy.

I liked it! I really liked Laurent, which is maybe a bit terrible of me, but there is clearly more to him than Damon is seeing right now! (Which is certainly fair of him.) I like that it's taking time to build their relationship.

I enjoyed listening to this, but if you've listened to Undisclosed, you won't find much new information at all about the book. And Grace is right that this is a lot Rabia's story, not Adnan's. And I found it interesting to read about, but I think maybe that was a different book.

Anyway, apparently I was in the mood to read this straight through, but it is still just okay. I guess mostly it feels unpolished. Lots of good glimmers of stuff, but it doesn't all come together.

And to some extent, I was ALWAYS going to compare the next Billingsley I read to my beloved Chime, but this had a lot of parallels with the mysteries to both reader and narrator. The romance, too, had a similar flavor.
This started off pretty cute, but the second half wasn't as fun.
