When her grandparents and mother passed away Jennifer was on her own and she vowed she would make a life for herself.
At the age of 30, Jennifer is a beautiful woman, she is a head turner, and she knows it. She uses this beauty to her advantage that gets her swept up in a trendy world of wealth and privilege as a professional mistress to rich older men. They lavish her with places to live, expensive cars, beautiful clothing and jewelry, surgeries to enhance her looks and trips to exotic places.
Upon returning to her Las Vegas hotel room, she walks in on what looks like a very violent scene. Jennifer’s latest lover, Nick, is singing in the shower while his wife lies face down dead on the bed. It is at this time Jennifer realizes she no longer can ignore the directions of her life and the danger she is now in .. she flees.
Desperate to hide, she needs to create a whole new person - a new look with a new name and locates herself in a small town of Boulder City. What she wasn’t expecting was finding a new life with new friends that cared and just maybe this is really the life she is supposed to have.
Like most of Robyn Carr books you always get the small cozy town feel and Swept Away is no different. While you will get the sweet romance story this novel really centers on Jennifer’s journey from that life of wealth and privilege to one of living with less but having good friends that care for you and finally finding that one special man that will give Jennifer what she needs most - love. Swept Away does have a few heart-wrenching moments especially with little Hedda that Jennifer takes under her wing. I loved the tight community in this small town and enjoyed learning about all the secondary characters.
Not all Robyn Carr novels are 4 star books but this one certainly was one for me. It was an easy comfort read that kept me engaged and wanting to hear the next chapter. I feel part of the story towards the end was predictable and a little rushed.
This is an audiobook narrated by Thérèse Plummer - she never disappoints me....more

Chris is a young 27-year-old divorcee, down and out of luck with 2 young children, vile little dog called Cheeky whose rented house catches on fire ….. guess who rescues her - if you guessed Mike score 1 for you! Having just moved into the Sacramento area Chrissy has no family, no friends and no money so she has no place to go with her 2 kids .. if you guessed that she moves in with Mike .. - if you guessed Mike score 1 for you! Chrissy and her kids fill a hole in Mike’s heart and house .. within days he does not want her to leave. But Chrissy has a hidden past that will come back to haunt her and interfere with this new relationship that she and Mike are developing.
I have enjoyed many Robyn Carr books and stories about second chances, but this book just did not do much for me. I found Chrissy to be whiny and at times, between an ex-husband and an overbearing Aunt I found her to spineless. I also felt Mike was afraid to lose Chrissy and the kids and could be a little controlling.
The best I can give this book is 2 ½ stars. I think I need to give Robyn Carr books a little rest time.

Sometimes tragedy and sadness can turn your whole life around for the better .. at lease that is what Hannah Russell is about to experience when her best friend, Erin suddenly dies and names Hannah as guardian to Erin’s five-year-old son, a little boy with special needs; you see Erin has been estranged from her mother and stepbrother for many years. Noah has a mild case cerebral palsy and will need to receive special physical therapy and medical attention; luckily Erin made sure a special trust was set up for Noah … just in case. Single and terrified to fail as a guardian to this little boy she decides that she and Noah need to time away to get to know each other. Hannah rents a beautiful country home in rural Colorado from freelance photographer Owen Abrams. Upon arrival Noah and Hannah are greet by Owen and his very large Great Dane Romeo. Owen was supposed to be on a photography trip that got cancelled .. he assures Hannah he will be in his barn/office and promises to stay out of their way. Well, you know that is not going to happen especially when a little Noah immediately bonds with a great big clumsy dog.
Noah, Hannah and Owen together learn to deal with their difference, tragedies and sadness that they have been dealt and this unlikely trio fight to become a family. They find support with all the residents of Sullivan’s Crossing.
This is the final book that I am aware of in the Sullivan’s Crossing series. It was great to return to Sullivan’s Crossing and meeting up with many of the characters from the previous 4 books in this series.
I am rating this book at 3 ½ stars. In general, I enjoy this book, it was a light easy read and held my interest. Ms Carr needed to introduce her catalyst, Noah’s material Grandmother sooner. I just found at times the story was a little unbelievable .. the close friendship turned into romance between Hannah and Owen took less than 2 weeks. While I realize people in small towns can be friendly and helpful, I felt the connection between Hannah, Noah and towns people farfetched. For a 5-year-old I found Noah a little too adult like. I found the ending rather predicable … but this is a Robyn Carr book and she always leaves us with a happy ending....more
The Summer That Made Us by Robyn Carr is the story of mothers, daughters, sisters and cousins that once all spent lazy summers at the family lake housThe Summer That Made Us by Robyn Carr is the story of mothers, daughters, sisters and cousins that once all spent lazy summers at the family lake house until one heartbreaking summer. Jo and Lou are sisters that have not talked to each other since that summer. But what really happened between these 2 sisters that torn this family apart?
Talk about a dysfunctional family; there is Meg dying from breast cancer, her sister Charley, a 44 year old talk show host who has just lost her job, Hope, who lives in a fantasy world and her sister Krista that has been in prison for 23 years for murder. Meg embarks on inviting her mother, aunt and cousins to spend the summer at the lake house and help mend these old wounds.
I am only giving the book 3 ½ stars – I felt the beginning was slow and had a hard time getting to know these characters. As story starts to unveil itself it turned out to be a heartwarming story of family love, being truthful and learning to forgive happening from the past.
